I’m waiting for delivery of this kit has just landed got the upgrade version Nige.Going straight on the bench as soon as it arrives . Great review as always mate
Dear Nigel, I must say that RFM is very impressive. I will be very interested in how the sales perform on both kit types- it should provide some valuable insight into the market as regards detail in models. You made a great comparison presentation there! Kind regards, Z
Listed as out of stock at Tiger Hobbies Nigel. Listed as pre-order at Jadlam for £42.95. I must admit that I am becoming a fan of RFM kits. Especially the price of them compared to other manufacturers. I already have a Hobbyboss King Tiger kit that includes Zimmeritt. So, I will be passing on this one. But I will definitely be looking at RFM kits again. I might get their Sherman Easy Eight kit. That one is only £45.
It's looking great, too bad they didn't throw the brass skirts in the upgrade version. I will probably buy this kit as I always wanted to build a King Tiger, originally, I wanted the standard, with moving tracks and perhaps, the brass skirts option (I can probably make the skirt with thin aluminum sheet, tho), not really interested in P.E. (that is too thin for a tank at that scale, it would be okay for 1/72) or metal barrel (as the plastic one looks pretty straight) but actually, after comparing the price, the upgrade version is a better choice (for me) as the moving tracks are $20. Thanks for the review, Nigel👍🏻
Question ?. Would you include in your model detail that will never be seen. Personally not, but what is your opinion ? Companies seem to add it all of the time at extra cost.
Its all a matter of opinion. There is enjoyment in building but if you are only interested in what can be seen, then dont bother doing the stuff you can't see?
don't get the King Tiger with the steel tow cable..... i think it's Dragon, this is because you can't bend it and fix it in place, it's so stiff !!!!!!!!!!!
@@darronhedges5873 i don't know what they were thinking of........my KT are the Takom kits, but do i want another KT ...........not really..........at the moment i'm struggling with the Fujimi 1/500 Yamato.........God it's hard, the parts are so tiny.
Yes, I totally agree excellent idea. You get to buy the complexity level you want.
Looks good. RFM is currently the top 1 ww2 tanks manufacturer for me
Hello from across the pond! I always like the reviews. That late heavy German armour is pretty a pretty heavy subject!😊

Mine (plus PE fenders) arrived this morning from HobbyLink Japan and it is indeed a beauty. I'll be keeping an eye out for the interior set.
Did the fenders come free?
@@NigelsModellingBench No, they were a separate item, but less that £10.
looks really nice, would look great in a dorama, you want the one with the individual fenders
I agree!

I remember it well, the premium PE fittings trying to hold tension on bent cable kept breaking.

Meng is simpler and lower part count.
Thank you.
