That is VERY dependant on the situation. More often than not elite players are now focusing on the speed of pass and where the pass is going, rather than worrying about how it shall be received. Either throw the arial quickly (at the right time) to give your team mate more time to do something with it. Or, make the pass in such a way where your team mate will have more space.
