I mean Nas still making music and he's definitely Old-school 90s. The youngins of this drill music era will still talk about him as if a Nas album will be trash and that's not the case. I guess these brothas are saying "for the culture" do it. But AZ is saying nah F that I want billboard money.. Nas ain't thinking that way because if he was he wouldn't have had Lauren hill or Eric sermon on one of his recent albums. I just think AZ don't see it happening between him and Nas in particular

In 1996 and 1997, the music industry underwent a significant transformation as the four major labels( BMG, Sony, Warner & Universal) consolidated into three with exception of EMI, leading to the disbandment of all subsidiaries. Many prominent hip-hop labels and artists, excluding those affiliated with Def Jam, found themselves associated with Interscope Records. Alternatively, they were distributed through Interscope, which was, I believe, under the umbrella of Universal. This restructuring occurred following Universal's acquisition of BMG, resulting in substantial disruptions for numerous independent labels and authentic rap acts

But the business isn't hard copy = hard paper the way it used to. They have to get 20B views for nas to want to put his time and money to it. If this was '98 business... they would get terror squad numbers ×2. and everybody would be all in.

The contracts that many artist in the music industry sign to or used against them are unconscionable in nature. For instance, when you invest in something or someone by putting your money into them, a product or service, your recoupment or return is the money that is made back above the investment. For example, if you invest $10,000 into someone or something, and make back $20,000, that's a $10,000 profit. However, what these music companies do is: invest $10,000, make $20,000 back (which is a $10,000 profit), then require recoupment from the artist for the $10,000 invested in them that they just made back plus the $10,000 in profit, thus leaving the artist short of the $10,000 invested in them, which the company got back plus $10,000 more - this is called an "unconscionable contract" in contract law, which is illegal and can be annulled or terminated in a court-of-law.
