Trains are indeed cool. Which explains why we spend so much time watching TH-cam videos of them! Thanks for the trains, the nice scenery, the close up look at the line side litter and the fun narration...
Thanks for sharing your video. Over the years I have done a lot of rail-fanning / train watching. I have met a few girls that where there only because there husband or father dragged them along. So it was vary refreshing to hear your enthusiasm for the trains and the treasures along the tracks. it seems that I'm one of those fathers who is guilty of dragging his daughters and wife along while chasing the trains. I like how you set the settings and descried the local area. Another thing I like was how you took time to film each object you encountered. To many times people who are making video tapes bounce from one object to the next with out giving the viewer time to look them over. Your doing a nice job, keep it up.
I really love this commentator, not many female rail fans. Be safe and keep up the great work, I think the contraption is a radio switch machine with a automatic propane heater to prevent freezing during winter ❄️
Trains are priortized and he may wait on several depends on their classification, the big box is a dual controlled power switch machine ,DC and AC , used to throw the point normal and reverse position, watch it go normal for the train going toward West Virginia, the LP tank supplies fuel for the heaters on the points for freezing ice and snow to melt it from the points
Enjoyed your video, the only thing that can improve it would be if you by a tripod than your picture would be very smooth. But I still enjoyed your effort. :) thanx a lot.
I usually prefer shorter videos, but really liked this one, thanks for sharing, and at one point (16:30ish) you pointed the camera at what you called a "contraption" a long metal rod being held in place with a giant padlock, that would be the switch arm used to throw the switch manually, and I guess the other stuff attached to it would be equipment to automate the process? So I probably didn't tell you any more than you already knew there, oh well. and yes as you said at the end "trains are so cool".
That container train looks a lot like one of the trains that comes through ATL. NS 221 & 222 =; intermodal trains but they come out of Charlotte and run to Atlanta.
Kind of surprised you didn't know what most of the railroad equipment was, since you came out with a lot of videos before this one unless your someone else. Great video other wise.
when ever your standing at the switch and would like to know if the train is going to start, look at the switch points and if you see them move from one place to another the train is starting to go. put your camera on a stick to help you keep it still.
Should the conductor have to get out of the cab, he'll unlock the padlock, throw the switch and allow the train to pass. It is a tamper control against trespassers playing with the controls.
l have watched a few of your videos ,as someone else mentioned l love the way you mention where your at thats cool to hear about .l love how you talk about growing up in areas but l do have one little complaint about this video , shaky hands .besides that l really enjoyed ... l would like to suggest a fellow railfanner ......pwalpar....he is retired from working on the railroad ,l think you would enjoy some of his .you both share a similar style .

The propane tank feeds a flame burner to melt snow/ice buildup on the switcher so it will still work in the winter.

Norfolk southern weather hot 🥵 summer
Really enjoy the commentary and the surrounds! Thought I was going to learn how to read those signals, but still non the wiser!!!
Adrian C thx!
Great clip! Thanks a lot!
They were more than likely talking about u in the trains. Good video and find!
Red over yellow means medium approach. There is a train in the area and it is being told to move at medium speed when approaching that signal
Triple meets are rare, liked it!

One of my best catches ever yesterday!! Must See!! Maybe The Second Best Train Lashup Ever
The tank, is for diesel fuel ( kerosine) switch heater when it snows...

Melvin Tate thx for commenting!
a gimbal works great for hand photography to but they can be pricey

yes, thank you!!
On the other side of the river is, the old Virginian RR
That Switch machine has detectors and if the points open either normal or reverse opens 1/4 inch the signals will not clear.
I would love to see you do some videos on NS Pocahontas District it's always buzzing.
First time I saw a mix of coal cars, bethgons and top gons, guess it doesn't matter when you rotary dump, need a small tripod though, really helps

Happy Sunday 😘
The signal is diverging approach which means going into the other track & stop at the next signal, looks like Bel springs???
Kind of surprised you didn't know what most of the railroad equipment was, since you came out with a lot of videos before this one unless your someone else. Great video other wise.
I really love this ..... Trains meet in virginia
Excellent!! Thumbs up! 15

Nice catches.

trains rule-n-roll!!
Cool vid. Very risky though, you need not risk your safety or freedom for your subscribers. I would hate to miss out on future video's.
Great video but I assume its very illegal to be there....
possibly.... but in this rural area of Virginia, it is VERY common for the property to be used to access hunting, fishing, or hiking areas.
excelent,,likeee
Are you Baltimore&OhioRR or his wife/gkrlfriend/significant other? If you are B&O, how come we've nevef heard your voice before?
