Woozi has been producing & writing songs since predebut! Adore U was written, composed, and produced by him & Bumzu, and Vernon & S.Coups both wrote their own raps.
Seventeen has been popular since debut, but they uniquely don't have any standout megahit songs. Their popularity growth has been consistent, rather than having one megahit song that skyrocketed them to fame.
Pretty U got them their first win. It is a title track, and it has a MV, but the standout aspect of Pretty U is its musical theatre-esque choreography. And the MV shows absolutely zero choreo, so most people recommend the dance practice.
Very NICE is considered their biggest hit, but it didn't win any awards on release, and didn't get super popular until much later. Don't Wanna Cry kickstarted their popularity in Western countries (I, for one, knew DWC years before I got into Seventeen). But yeah, it's hard to identify a single song that made them popular.

adore u is such a debut. screams $17 and a dream. went to promote on music shows with cheap wardrobe and samsung earphone as inears. they're phenomenal.
I am always amazed Hoshi found the inspiration for the choreography for Pretty U while sitting on a sofa at a Waffle House.
I am thankful to have read SEVENTEEN Lyrics Inside to learn more about Adore U, Mansae, and Pretty U, and that they are continuous Love Stories. Adore U where a boy meets a girl, and Mansae where boy becomes close with girl where it expresses the boy’s heartful emotions towards the girl, and Pretty U what would happen if the boys from Mansae fell in love for the first time. Then there is Aju Nice where it is a song that expresses one’s feelings towards their crush as “Nice,” so in the MV their hearts are exploding because of seeing their crush. I am also amazed the fact the inspiration for Aju Nice came from golf.

Rewatching dance practices multiple times to focus on each member is definitely something I do a lot too. Only with certain groups I guess, but for those groups I've done it with pretty much every song.

You cannot help but to smile and follow along with the choreo, because as a Carat, you know you've hit replay at least 14 times, 1st to enjoy and each member focus after. Thanks for your reaction RJ. Pretty U was probably when they first had legit buzz on them. Even won their first music show win. Then it just went on with Aju Nice.
jeonghan wasn't feeling well when they recorded Adore U but when they do the live performances, he sang his lines.
I did not know this, i think I never realized he doesn't sing in Adore U since I normally like listening to live Performances and rarely listen to the studio versions 😮😮
And back when the MV came out I wasn't familiar with each individual voice so I never realized is actually Seungkwan singing the studio version.

Pretty U is one of my favorite dances. Yes--the Theater Kids of K-Pop. And yes--it's Dino who has been dancing since he could walk! His parents are both dancers and his dad owns/runs? a dance studio. He was maybe 16 at debut? Carats help me out.

I get you on how dance practices, live performances etc can sometimes change your feelings towards a song...this is how it was for me with Blackpink and Pink venom (absolutely hated the song when I first heard it).

I love Adore U! The MV is a little awkward, but the music is fantastic the best debut I've ever seen ! React the Vanner version é amazing, this group participated on reality "Peak Time", great show.

@@rjkpop yup! Lol. Pretty U was only like 3 months prior to Very Nice so there was no way it could’ve naturally grown back that quickly. It’s a lot less common in boy group but they use hair extensions and clip-ins too.
