    I ran something like this, back in the Summer of 1976. I remember it was dome shaped theatre on Central Pier in Atlantic City. We used a 70mm Century projector.

    За 7 секунд заряжал проектор с закрытыми глазами. 6 лет работы в кино официально только. И до этого работал заменяя отца.

    Oh the dreaded DP75. I hated those things with a passion - and still do to this day. Not Kinoton's finest hour by any stretch.
    Sprocket pads that would fly open when they felt like it, a lens mount that refused to return to operational position reliably resulting in a VERY blurred image and a gate that was a pain to thread.
    And to think *this* machine was the follow up to the legendary DP70 / AAII.

    I’m glad they are still using the traditional 35mm film and not the digital way

      That 35mm film is in fact 70mm!

    • @burmiester1
      @burmiester1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep like he said this film is actually 65mm wide with a 5mm soundtrack. The 70mm standard was developed to get a hyper wide version of 35mm with much grander sound. I love both gauges so much! Hope film makes a big comeback.

    • @davidolden971
      @davidolden971 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@burmiester1 65mm is the gauge of film negative stock. 70mm is the release gauge.
      If you took a strip of 70mm and laid it on top of a strip of 65mm, the sprocket holes would perfectly line up.
      As has already been mentioned, the outside (2.5mm from each outside edge) is for sound.

    Here in the USA, all the Cinema 180's I saw had Ballantyne 70mm projectors.

    Hi. I'd like to find the owner / film maker who shot this clip for possible inclusion in a documentary feature film but I cant see how to trace it back any further than the KinotehnikNet group. Can anyone help?

    What kind of lens this projector is having ? looks very different compared to other projectors and why full image reflects on the front mirror of the booth ? in normal projector booth the image goes out to the screen like a small square of light frame.

    Has to be a DP75. Those things sent rubber band sales through the roof, after the projectionist had a heart attack as the sprocket pads flew off the sprockets and thus turning the operator grey prematurely. :)
    Hated those things with a passion.

    • @Ampex196
      @Ampex196 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmmm. ... Abused examples could be a nightmare. Properly cared for DP75s' were lovely to operate; NO rubber bands required!
      Unlacing halfway through the demo was pointless and certaily risks damage.

    Hi there, it's great you are enthusiasts and are interested in this machine, however, as a documentary film maker by trade, you really should at least give credit when copying and uploading someone else's video. Perhaps I'm just too old school. :-/
    That said, thank you for keeping the dreams alive, this machine and ALL her related films and accessories is currently up for private sale.

    70mm projector doesn't need anamorphic lens?

    • @truefilm6991
      @truefilm6991 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Usually not. Most 70mm prints are meant to be projected with spherical lenses, either shot on 65mm camera negative or blow up from various sources including VistaVision (35mm 8perf horizontal), 35mm 2x anamorphic and 35mm cropped widescreen. There is a standard however, that is called Ultra Panavision 70. It uses a 1.25x anamorphic lens on the camera and projector. Movies shot on this format are for example Ben Hur (1959) and The Hateful Eight (2015). For the latter 70mm roadshow film prints were made that came with the 1.25x anamorphic lenses for standard 70mm film projectors.

    Cant watch another moment of this - With such a valuable print - In my day no one would ever touch the leader - we would attach Gash Film to the from - Lace up and Run down to the STart Mark
    At the end of the run the print would be returned and not a finger had ever touched the print - INCLUDING a pristine leader
    Added benefit is that if on the rare chance you messed up a lace up - The Run down will only tear or snap your waste film -
