- I make two forging hammers based on the traditional Swedish pattern. The common cross peen and a matching straight peen hammer. For these I use the drift I made earlier to create eyes that match the factory made handles that I have access to.

Those are some wonderul looking hammers and the new forge looks like a great addition to the shop.
Thank you John!👍
@@torbjornahman TH-cam will not let me leave a comment straight to your channel. I'm having to do it this way to tell you thanks for the fantastic thumbs up video. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and wisdom
As someone who does not do blacksmithing, I'm continually fascinated by how different it is from other forms of crafting. The way he imagines shape and plans his steps in advance is so much different from, say, woodworking or industrial metalworking. There's always at least one point in each of his videos where I say to myself "I don't see where this is going," and that makes it even more delightful and satisfying to see the final product take shape.
Thanks!
@@torbjornahman Sorry, I forgot to ask; does the forge use propane? I looked at the Nordforge website, but they don't mention the gas. Thanks.
Yes, propane!
Same
I think its wizardry 😂
I no longer blacksmith for a living; cannot even do as a hobby thanks to a wrist surgery. But when I was full time at it all day everyday, hammers were what kept the doors open. Hammers were most favourite thing to forge and always my best product. It never gets old watching a blank piece of steel become a piece of art on a handle. I’m glad I can still get my forging fix vicariously through videos
Thanks. Sorry to hear about your wrist problems.
forgot how therapeutic these videos can be
happy easter
You have to appreciate a man that pounds the living crap out of red hot steel, then he takes a break outdoors to admire the spring flowers, and then he goes back into his shop and pounds the living crap out of red hot steel :)
😀
I knew a blacksmith, the size of a small mountain, who had absolutely no idea how strong he was, so he would constantly "gently close the faucet" so hard his wife couldn't open it if her life depended on it. After some back and forth about the problem he bought a small pipe wrench for each faucet and placed under the corresponding zink, and told his wife that if she made a mark on the faucet that was on him, not her, because he knew that sooner or later he would be in a hurry, forget all about it, and leave her alone at the house "with no water". I always though that was such an adorably sweet solution.
On creating traditional Swedish style hammers you nailed it.
How I love observing the work of a man whose FORGINGS come out with a finer finish than many 'finished' works!
Exactly!
That design of hammer would appear for a particular purpose. I truly enjoy watching a master craftsman.
That "Swedish coffee" by your hammer mill looks strong and delicious!!!
😅
A Hammer for every occasion and shape. 😍 Beautiful crafting.
Wow! Those turned out really nice, glad to see you left the hammer marks in them, but cleaned up the working faces. Thank you for taking time to build, film, edit and post this video.
Thanks
⚒️ Easter Hammers!!! ⚒️ Awesome looking 👀 forge! Thanks for the video!👍
Thanks!
a long awaited new video !
Happy Easter from Cologne 🍀🍄🍀
Perfect !!! Great sit down and enjoy Vid for relaxing on Easter Sunday 🐥🐣💐
Absolutely gorgeous! And it was so satisfying to see you starting the eye with a punch that had an indexing nub on it, what a great idea!
Thank you so much!
Can’t wait to make my own. I have a crappy setup with charcoal and home made anvil. One day I’ll make all my tools just like Mr Åhman here. Simple joys of life.
Great work.
Im just 2 years into Blacksmithing.
Your videos have been a great help.
Thanks for all the priceless information
Great! Thanks
Excellent video! I could watch you work all day, great job!
A beautiful matched set! Well done 👍 Thanks for sharing!
"King of Småland," indeed!! 🙂The new forge will serve you well and will be much better for your health! Does it run on propane?I love the heartbeat of that big power hammer! I remember you making the foundation for it. The snowdrops and wild orchids are lovely! Your new hammers are gorgeous! Thanks for another great video.
The pilot tip matching up with the center-punched hole is very smart planning and execution. I love your attention to detail--like your perfectly height matched front shelf for loading the hammer in and out of the new forge. And the finished product makes me want to hit red iron quite a lot...beautiful. Thanks
Thanks!!
Very nice hammers! I always enjoy your videos.
Great!!! Thank you, and good luck!!
I enjoy witnessing the mastery of this craft, thank you!
I live in Alaska; we still have snow knee-deep. Must be nice to be thawed out already.
I love your profile name. ❤
It's still knee deep in northern Sweden. But we in the southern half are lucky. Grass has started to grow and first spring flowers are up here outside Uppsala Sweden.
( Some 50 miles north of Stockholm but still in the southern part. )
@@hnorrstromI’m in coastal Maine, USA, and your spring is further ahead than ours.
Autumn down here in Australia. Still pretty warm though - 25 C forecast today.
A new forge! It's the sunrise of a new era!
He he, we will see...
It wasn't until the handles were mounted that I realised that the peans are opposite each other 😄
I don't know how many hammers I've seen forged on TH-cam, but this was another twenty minuts well spent!
😄 Thanks
Tak Torbjorn for another wonderful video. It's a pleasure watching you create and forge such beautiful tools and other items from iron.
Your video was a nice finish to my Easter Sunday spent with my family. Now that Joey is no longer creating videos I'm relying on you to keep 'em coming. Thank you very much!
I appreciate that you kept the "forged to finish" look on these hammers. I've recently been swinging a Peddinghaus made Swedish hammer so of course your video has inspired me to forge my own. Thanks again.
Thanks!
Haha, I didn't notice the difference between the two until the end! :) Thanks for the video - a perfect birthday present. Very very nice job as always Thunder Bear!
Happy birthday!
Always enjoyable to watch a master create.
The time and care you take in forging a couple of hammers speaks volumes about you. Great video as always and God bless brother.
Thanks 👍
Nothing like watching a master at work 😊. Well done.
I dont anyone else on youtube forging tools. I continue to be impressed by your work, and as always, your simple humor knocks it out of the ballpark. Thank you for sharing this with us common folk.
Thank you very much!
Underbar!
Bra video som alltid !!!
Tack! Ja, det är lite orättvist.
Beautiful job as always! I enjoy seeing clips of your place, it is really nice. Thanks!
Your work is truly a breathtaking spectacle. But just listening to it is simply proof of true mastery.
Great workmanship on display. Those hammers will last for generations. I hope that you are able to pass your skills on to someone and train the next generation of great craftsmen.
Torbjörn you have been an inspiration for my forged works since i started 4 years ago. I do my best to forge to finished product and grind as little as possible and people appreciate the hard work and attention to detail. Keep up the good work. Happy Easter
That is awesome! Thanks!
There not bad..! It’s a shame that nobody can ever buy them and really enjoy your talents of work!
Respectful 🙏🏻❤️!!
The “Master” at moving steel and why not? He is ‘KIng of Smaland’. JC🌵
《3 i still love to watch your videos. I learn something for each and everyone of them. Thank you master😅
I love to watch you work
Always on the same perfection...i love your work ! Thank you for enjoy ! Jy.
Wonderful forging! And beautiful work as always..
Thanks for sharing..
Hi Torbjörn! The two hammers look really good! Very nice work! Greetings Bulats Schmiede from germany 😊🤙
I always enjoy the whole process. Thanks so much sir. I really appreciate your effort.
Vad långt er vår har kommit. Vi har fortfarande snön kvar.
Grymt jobb som vanligt. 😊
Tack!
22:50 I guess you can never have too many specialized hammers.👍
I seldom comment but wanted to take a few extra moments to say thank you for your content! Although I don’t have much of the equipment you do I hope to one day. Until then many of the processes and projects still transfer.
Thank you!
Thanks! Yes, the process is the same with other tools. Heavier material like this is pretty easy to forge with a striker if you don't have access to a power hammer.
Amazing power hammer controll!
Your work and videos are both wonderful. It's a joy to find a new video from you.
Pedant, esthete and just a wonderful guy.
Skill level 11.
Not just blacksmithing but video production as well.
👍
Thank you!!
It is fantastic to watch these exquisite hammers being formed.
However, I also really enjoyed seeing your wonderful property and where you are in the season. We have many of the same blooms happening at the same time here on the East Coast of the US.
Your enjoyment in your projects and life are felt in all your videos!
Thanks
Thank you very much!
Beautiful work as always
Tank you for your inspiring vidéos, a plaisir to watch as usual !
You Will Always give me A BIG SMILE, Lots of love for the Metal Artwork, and an outstanding amount of Credit toward your Blacksmithing. :)
Vackra verktyg, som alltid! Fina filmade detaljer! Tack från Tommy i Kristianstad 👍👍
As always, splendid craftsmanship Bud.
Thanks a lot. You are a real hammer maestro!
Beautiful workmanship 😊
I've been here with you since the jug of linseed oil was full!
I enjoy watching your videos.
Thank you for sharing them with us
When I put the hammer on the haft, I always lubricate the haft with boiled linseed oil first. I think the haft will go into the hammer like a well oiled one. 😀
Love watching the videos, cant wait for the next one. Each shows finish and attention to detail in each and every project.
Thanks! for the flower shots Torbjorn🌷🍂
I have been watching your channel since that jug of linseed oil was almost full! Beautiful hammers, thanks again.
You are a very skilled Blacksmith and video maker !!!! I love watching your videos !!! You are quite funny too! Please continue making video's! The more the better !
Those hammers look great
Great as usual, sir. Happy Easter for you and your family!
Thank you. Your videos always lift my mood
I’m so glad to see a new video, do hope you and your family doing well, happy and healthy. Thank you 🙏
Such clean forgings
Beauty in iron. Lovely Lovely.......don't know how to appciate can't find good words. Love the sound of steel upon steel. ❤
Thanks! I am always glad to see you.
Master craftsman! What a beautiful new video. New forge (same as mr. Nils Øgren?), spring come even in Sweden, blacksmith as an art form... I enjoy every second of your new movie. Totally Åwesome, as always. Happy easter and thank you for sharing your art with us. 🙏🏻♥️💪🏻🤘🏻
Thanks! Yes he has this one too, along side his bigger forge.
Amazing work. 👍💪
Happy Easter. 🐣🐰
Artwork. Well done. Maybe my great grandfather from Sweden was a smith. Wishfull thinking. Thank you.
Beautiful Hammers.
Amazing work sir. Love from India ❤❤
Awesome work, Torbjorn!!!
I like the hammers and the not overworked finish very nice job
Thank you for another great video! The highlight, as always, is the boiled linseed oil being brought into frame. 21:36
Thanks! :)
I Like that style hammers, fine job forging them, and a new forge to go with the hammers!!
The latest additions to the family.
Bare så lækkert, Torbjørn.. ! 🤗🤗
Tack!!
I really like hammers with the forge marks on the sides and finished faces
Nice hammers. That little power hammer is gem.
Beautiful work, as always!
At 11.00 is a perfect symmetrical example of a fishmouth ....although I think they look more like fishtails but there we go.
Cracking work and love the name for the new forge too, very fitting
Honestly with your sense of humour and editing I thought you were going to somehow manage to do some forging with the lightbulb.
I am going to have to move onto factory made handles, ash dieback has hit trees so hard here I am not sure how many are left.
I'm later than usual, but Thanks for the awesome video and all the amazing content!!
Absolutely amazing, like always!
So swedish that they chant ABBA songs when hit steel! Tusen tack från 🇫🇮
*Wow another couple of awesome tools made 🙂.*
