LOL, I've already tamed two horses and I didn't know about fodder. I just ran after the horses and when I got close enough the game prompted me to press E to mount. It does work without the fodder, I got a perfect tame on the second time. If you lose the mini game when the horse is raging and it kicks you off, you have to wait for it to calm down BEFORE hopping back on. You can mount it when it's angry but the taming won't progress and the horse doesn't calm down if you are mounted. Don't ask how I know, lol.
Yea, one of the worst I've ever seen. It's so slow and you get stunned all the time and the hitboxes are all over the place. Even harvesting is painfully slow and it's really hard to hit anything. You need to walk right against the tree to be able to chop it down. It's alpha, so hopefully it gets better in future.

I think the game is pretty good but the combat really needs some overhaul, it's very clunky and unresponsive at times.
