A small part of the reason Bob and Boopkins were changed was because any time there was a video about Garo (Bob) or Spike (Boopkins), people would comment nothing but their SMG4 names to the point comments were deactivated. Luke and Kevin themselves have a video where they have a clip of them going to a Zelda video about Garo (Bob) and the comments were nothing but “Hi Bob”. Miyamoto mentioned that right before slapping Bob and Boopkins with the paper to change them.
What a ride it's been so far man. Now that the Lawsuit Arc is over, we enter the wild phase that many are still unsure about when it comes to keeping it chronological and accurate. With that you've now finished the last official arc playlist on the SMG4 channel. This WOTFI is one of my favourites purely cause the song is just that 🔥 (my favourite WOTFI song out of all of them so far, though WOTFI 2021 has the best story). Somehow, they were able to get Lawyer Kong's Robotic Voice to work in a song. With the song also calling back to the previous arcs, as well as the redesigns, this WOTFI felt like a series finale to the modern era of SMG4. With what's coming next being a new era that's still ongoing.
I honestly liked the arc but a major problem some fans have with it and one that I honestly agree with is that it feels way too similar to the TH-cam arc. The crew is put into possibly not existing again due to something I guess you could say something powerful( TH-cam remote YT arc and SMG4 getting sued LS arc) then after they're presumably gone Mario has to find something to get the SMG4 crew back( Remote YT arc and the DMCA contract LS arc) while a not exactly evil character is in a way owner of the powerful thing ( Susan for TH-cam arc and Miyamoto for Lawsuit) then the powerful thing causes some changes to the crew ( Meggy gets a voice YT arc and Bob Boopkins SMG4 and SMG3 get redesigned LS arc) Not trying to say the arc is bad it's just feel like way more differences between the 2 could've been made

Okay, so-I got a lot to say about this, so fair warning. Obviously enough, this episode marked the biggest turning point in SMG4’s entire history. In order to deter against actual lawsuits, SMG4 redesigned his own avatar, SMG3, and of Bob and Boopkins into original characters. This caused an absolute STORM of controversy for pretty much all the reasons you’d expect, but the overly-simple, “corporate-mascot”-ish designs for 4 and Boopkins especially caught flak. It was so bad that several longtime fans of him outright unsubscribed. If you recall in the Splatoon 3, I once said I’d expand further on why this case kinda rubs me the wrong way. The whole conflict of the Lawsuit Arc is “What if SMG4 actually got DMCA’d by Nintendo?”. The gang defeats Lawyer Kong with Parody Law, which allows them to use Mario’s likeness in these silly videos, with the man himself going “I’m not your hero-I’m a dumbass with an IQ of zero”… Except he actually, literally IS, thanks to SMG4’s arrival stupifying the whole Mushroom Kingdom. Lawyer Kong may be a massive dick, but the dude is 100% within his rights to torpedo SMG4’s career, especially since Mario’s been carrying it almost single-handedly until GLITCH was founded. Am I thinking about this Saturday-morning-cartoon-tier web series too hard? Probably. But those are just my thoughts, and trust me-people have somehow overthought this even more than I have.

Thats it,no other reason. The moment me and others realized that smg4 became a sellout is when we left. Going against smg lore and meggy character ark just for money wasnt something we liked. I guess i will now watch anyway with you where smg4 as gone too with the story. But as far as i heard it hasnt been good aside from more recent stuff.
Tbh, I heavily disagree with this. The redesigns were ok (outside of Bob and Boopkins with Bob being great and Boopkins being more meh). Tbf, with the merch, it's how folk get paid and the SMG4 team going a more original route with designs is perfectly fine (like them, I went with the more original route after I grew up from being a teenager to being a grown adult, it's a natural part of growing up as a creator). It ain't selling out when it's a natural evolution of a long running web series (that now has a team that needs to be PAID), especially in this case as its creator started the series in his teens.

They passed said test and Miyamoto (in-universe) allowed them to continue what they've been doing under the condition of the IP change. SMG3 and SMG4 both have similarities to Mario (similar body build and similar default clothes) but they're no longer just a Palette Swap, which has been established (via Niles and SMG1) to NOT be the only design choice for an SMG. They've also already established that SMG's can have their design changed earlier in the arc when they initially teased the redesigns. To add to this, their universe is an altered version of Mario 64, SMG3 and SMG4 are basically alt skins of Mario and alt skins for player characters aren't limited to just pallette swaps. It just needs to be similar enough which the redesigns are. This is why it DOESN'T go against the lore to have redesigns like this.
Alright. Here is my final everything wrong. That entire trial section is a crime in itself. If lawyer kong could controll anyone of the nintendo cast why did he never did that before. A lot chanlegge could have honestly been rigged in nintendo favour but they were dumb and went against their own guys. Lawyer kong trows a tanteum at the end and acts like he wasnt doing everything for himself. You cant demand a condition after they won a trial acting like you can do whatever you want. It doesnt make sense that an smg design can change since by their own lore they look like their avatar. Finally done with this ark.
It wasn't an actual trial since the ending twist basically showed it as a fake trial and an in-universe test by Miyamoto to see if the SMG4 Crew were a threat. You're applying the real world logic of an actual trial when it's a fake trial done for show with Miyamoto as the judge. 3 and 4 being avatars as a reason against the redesigns kinda falls flat when SMG1 and Niles exist, characters that don't look like they're copies of their avatars. They can physically look different to their avatar beyond a palette swap.

I think that smg1 said that he came from a different universe that was destroyed so thats why he didnt look like his avatar.

Niles is an SMG as he outright referred to both himself and 0 as the "real meme guardians" at the end of the Revelations movie. That and Niles basically is to SMG0 as what SMG1/3 is to SMG2/4, the SMG that takes care of the Internet Graveyard (in Niles case, he basically created it). SMG1 is from the same universe as SMG2 (he never said he was from a different universe from SMG2 and his avatar) so I don't know why you're saying that other than just a misinterpretation of what SMG1 said. SMG0/Niles are the Meme Guardians of their universe, and SMG1/SMG2 are the Meme Guardians of theirs.

We do see him being linked to smg2 avatar but he knows everything about the smg and whag happened to 0 wich implies he saw different universe. If we go with your side smg3 appearence doesnt make sense. If we go with my side smg1 being connected to 2 avatar doesnt make sense.

I never said that being the SMG that takes care of the internet graveyard means that they are the only ones to not have a palette swap. All it does is establish that it's possible for SMGs in general (no matter the origin) to not be limited to Palette Swaps for their design. This basically solves that issue you mentioned at the end as it's never been established in the show to be limited to certain SMGs like that, just that it's possible for SMGs in general.

3 and 4 being avatars as a reason against the redesigns kinda falls flat when SMG1 and Niles exist, characters that don't look like they're copies of their avatars. They can physically look different to their avatar beyond a palette swap.

Niles wasnt the smg or an avatar.
0 looked like his avatar.
I think that smg1 said that he came from a different universe that was destroyed so thats why he didnt look like his avatar.
@@alessandroreyes3827 It doesn't need to strictly go by the rules of an actual trial, cause it's not a proper trial to begin with. Niles is an SMG as he outright referred to both himself and 0 as the "real meme guardians" at the end of the Revelations movie. That and Niles basically is to SMG0 as what SMG1/3 is to SMG2/4, the SMG that takes care of the Internet Graveyard (in Niles case, he basically created it). SMG1 is from the same universe as SMG2 (he never said he was from a different universe from SMG2 and his avatar) so I don't know why you're saying that other than just a misinterpretation of what SMG1 said. SMG0/Niles are the Meme Guardians of their universe, and SMG1/SMG2 are the Meme Guardians of theirs.

He was created by the god box wich makes him artificial and not a real natural smg.
As for smg1.
He is really odd.
We do see him being linked to smg2 avatar but he knows everything about the smg and whag happened to 0 wich implies he saw different universe.
Also with your logic if the second guardian doesnt have the appearence of the avatar than that makes smg3 looks odd.
Its all honestly porly explained.
If we go with your side smg3 appearence doesnt make sense.
If we go with my side smg1 being connected to 2 avatar doesnt make sense.
@@alessandroreyes3827 For Niles, it still counts (he also has a similar body build to 0 and Fred). I never said that being the SMG that takes care of the internet graveyard means that they are the only ones to not have a palette swap. All it does is establish that it's possible for SMGs in general (no matter the origin) to not be limited to Palette Swaps for their design. This basically solves that issue you mentioned at the end as it's never been established in the show to be limited to certain SMGs like that, just that it's possible for SMGs in general.
