Step aside Wish, Games Workshop, Army Painter and Temu because today we're getting the Warhammer scams straight from Green Stuff World. Will they deliver or will they forever be labeled as scam artists?
We don't actually think any one of these products from Green Stuff World, Army Painter or Games Workshop are real scams, we're grading the product on a "scam" scale. High points = less bang for buck product.

My Squidmar Evolution CR Plus just made it to my door here in the USA, and I'm so STOKED!!! It's beautiful! 😍
23 for a wet palette. i got a whole paint station for 25 bucks called KRYDRUFI. i love this thing i even got one for my buddy. it got two cups for water a wet palette and can hold up to 16 brushes
Having to put a wooden thing together following sketchy instructions, wasn't that Sweden's gift to the world?? That's karma :P
I just want to know how many screws they had left over after assembling. And if they were worried.
i also want t o know if the little allen key fitted right or did it strip the bolt holes also🤔
Good one😂
Well played ;)
😂😂😂 love that comment ❤
If you are going to call the cork a scam because you can get it from IKEA for cheap, then the spraypaint gun handle is a scam because you can get those at home improvement stores for less.
And the green stuff you can get in the plumbing section, it'll be cheaper and more importantly, a hardware store has a high turnover so it'll be still soft.
@@kzin602 what, can you?
Many things they call scams are not scams
@@Sammo212 Yeah, if anything they are dupes.
@@Sammo212They do make that point.
The GSW scam is that you can find everything way cheaper without their rebranding. They don't make anything
The only exception to this is their rolling pins I think
They are also patent trolls.
@@jofa8952 Their rolling pins are the only things I bought from them
Besides a very few specific items, yep
What about their Metallic Pigments? Are they rebrands? Just curious
From all of your scam videos, it would be cool to do a top 10 of NON SCAM products, all brands included
Or even 20... cause there are plenty of nice to have products and we are the gadgeteers 😅
Warham is similar to golf in that people will spend alot of money on gadgets in hopes that it will make them better instead of just practicing and actually building up their skills.
You could start a series in which you go to someones house and use only the supplies they own to paint one of their figures and show us how skill beats gimmicks.
GSW is a patent trolling company.
The paint shaker is actually pretty dangerous.
Mine failed, turned itself on indefinitely in my toolbox and the power off button wouldn't work. The battery super heated and the whole thing was about to combust before I pulled it apart and ripped the wires out to stop it.
Quite scary as these batteries can be very dangerous when they fail.
I got that paint shaker too, and it's pure garbage. A proper vortex mixer is much better
had the same happen to me with my dremel micro (genuine), not sure what it is with rotary tools and the power switch being bonked
ca. 19:50 : Do you know, that GSW abuses european copright-laws to be the only shop on the european-market, which can sell this things? A Person in China has invented this stamps and has the copiright for this stuff on a global dimension, but GSW just said "It's ours" to the european authority.
GSW beating China at their own game.
We had this shit in kindergarten 25 years ago, they're definitely not a recent thing at all.
Hahahahahahahh fcking legends !!!
The fact that this series isn't called "warscammer" is the real scam.
the fact that neither "product is too expensive for my taste", "i did not like the product", "the vendor is putting a margin on the price" nor "this is just a branded version of something else" is a scam is the real scam
Scamhammer
Wasnt Greenstuff World the company wo plagiatises stuff, then goes to the trademark office in the same city and sues the original creator?
Don't know about that, but they use other people's painted minis in their promotional material without crediting them and then slap a Photoshop filter on it if confronted.
Yep! They also had the Nazi black sun symbol on one of their rollers. They allegedly didn't realize it was a Nazi symbol (to be fair, it's basically the only symbol the Nazis didn't steal from elsewhere), but they also took like a year after being told to remove it from their store.
@@BaWitda The "classic"/ss version of the Nazi sun is technically just the 18th century military version of the wagon wheel icon (which itself is likely from the logo representing houses that were working with yarn spinners) from east euro slavic countries with the lines extended and in a ring (wheel made of Ls with a inner circle and spikes).
The common version has the "friendship windmill" in the center and before terrorist organizations like the ADL and neo-pagans started both slapping it around in opposite directions wasnt really a symbol of anything except maybe a callsign by suspiciously germanic folks in south america.
That riveting tools is literally the same as the one Tamiya makes, just in green. I have one for scale modelling
Yeah. They did exactly that with the leaf hole punch used in this video. They also to claim the term "color shift" for paints and issued copyright strikes to youtube channels that were using the term. Even though the automotive industry has been using the term for decades.
I went online and found those bottle corks that Lukas mentioned, but without the bottle. ~$0.7 each. So for the price of the GSW handle, you can get four (albeit a bit smaller) cork cyclinders.
I just go to our local farmer's store and buy a pack of barrel corks. 50 for 40 bucks.
@@agp11001 Do you NEED 50 of them though ?
@@Vae17111 When I'm doing a new army project, I usually paint up all models of the same kind in one batch. So yeah, I've needed quite a few of them at the same time. Hell, my old Vampire Counts army had 160 skeletons in four regiments, so I almost needed the whole bag :P
And they keep for a long, long time - I bought my first batch maybe ten years ago and I still use some of them, although they tend to get dry and crumbly after some time, being hit with all matters of solvent-based stuff as well.
I bought the cork myself from GSW when doing an order for some other stuff I couldn't get locally. I sculpt my own miniatures, including the bases, so the bases aren't always circular, which makes the GW mini holders and stuff like that hard to use as they expect an even sized base. I got the cork for like £1.20 or something, stuck some earthquake putty on the top and it has been my go-to ever since. Works like a charm, great to hold etc. I have big hands, the ikea cork wouldn't fly. You gotta understand this thing is 10cm tall, not a bottle cork.
But yeah, honestly it works great. £1.20 well spent imho. Also their brush rinser thing is great too. As for their green stuff, the strips are not great but if you get it where the two putties are in separate tubes then it is much better.
me: worrying for years that a scottish summer is still 'too cold' to be spraying outside
lukas: snow everywhere spraying merrily like a chad
Moisture is worse than cold. Best tip for spraying in winter is to prepare everything, then get outside from warm indoors, spray quickly, go back in with all your stuff.
If you warm your can under running water for a minute or two it sprays fine outside down to as cold as it gets in reasonable places. Ime
You can spray stuff outside just fine, you just don't want your spray paint to be cold, or to leave the models outside in the cold and damp. What I do is I bring my spray paint cans inside so they can warm up to room temperature; maybe even leave them near a heater if it's real cold. I prep all my minis for spraying in advance indoors too; I'll usually stick them down onto a cardboard sheet, or a baking tray if they're on magnetized bases already, that way I can handle the whole tray as one big unit. Shake the hell out of the can, step outside and give everything a quick spray, and bring them right back inside and let them dry indoors somewhere out of the way. If it's a lot of models at once, I'll usually leave them in my bathroom for a while to let the smell dissipate.
The problem is moisture, not really cold.
OK, best bit is where Emil refers to train dioramas and Lucas just leaves. I laughed really hard. Fun review…thing…guys.
Instead of the cork handle, i recommend a standard prescription pill bottle with a childproof lid. They're designed for people with ergonomic issues like carpel tunnel and the lid can rotate easily for subtle angle changes when necessary. Just slap some blue-tac or double sided tape on top of the lid to hold your mini and go to town.
drop some washers inside to lower the center of gravity. and the lids are threaded on top and bottom so you can flip the lid and store the mini inside away from dust
They live in sweden, there are no standard prescription pill bottles here, all look different.
@@ulvtharm I can't believe it, American healthcare managed to not fuck something up that's incredible

I realy like this series. It real helps me make better consumer choices. I would love if you put those together in a form of a guide on what's the best product to buy from all the major cathegories: brushes, green stuff, clippers, sculpting tools etc.
Good video, lots of stuff to avoid or actually look into. The gundam model jab cut me deep though! You guys should look at Real Grade or Master Grade kits, those have loads of detail! The scribing tools we use are mainly to either add detail to simple High Grade kits or to add more realistic details to the more intricate models.
Need a video making a whole diorama using only a box of scam products
So I have that paint spinner and its fantastic. I make sure I have two mixing balls in my paint bottle and all of my paint comes out perfectly mixed every time
2:21 Brother got possesed by Uncle Roger for a second there FUIYOH!
I was waiting for this episode as I love GSW! It is just that you have to have a "godd eye" for plastic bs that have no use 😅 I actually love their gloss black primer and many of their paints, I have bought resin pieces that are solid and, of course, the one thing you should try is their blank decal papers! You can do amazing stuff with it!
I use the black gloss primer for my necron Army, they get super metally shiny. Perfekt for some chrome like necrons
What a great excuse to buy crap you kinda want to check out, but can’t justify.
18:46 build a PG then speak that slander. I guarantee you've never built anything as cool
*Orders stuff from Green Stuff World* "I don't like the green colour"
LMAO
you guys help kill my fear of priming in the cold.
A good scribing tool can cost way more than 20 dollars for just one chisel. If you're paying 20 dollars for an entire scribing set, you're getting cheap garbage.
how good do they need to be for plastic? some Clay tools work great
@HerbaceousM8 If you're scribing precise panel lines, you want the steel to be of high quality. Properly heat treated, tempered sharp and cleanly made. It's not really a skill set required for this Warhammer. It's usually used on vehicles and Gunpla.
Very true. The SAB set i got was $250 on sale. Like most artist tools, you really are paying for the quality. There really is a tangible difference in the end product, but only if youre good enough at your craft to reach a tools limit. All that to say yeah those chisels they got are actually only good as mold line removers.
@gundambrown9474 It is really annoying how much better a quality chisel is. If it was only marginally better, I'd say get a cheaper set. But it's a night and day difference.
That being said, if you don't do a ton of scribing, there's some pretty nice midrange chisels available. Dspiae makes some decent ones. There's a couple of other brands whose names escape me that are supposed to be decent. Stedi? I can't remember.
@@howardmoon2687 Micromark has a bunch as well.
Heck, they just have a ton of tools that can be used on any kind of model.
the small roller is basically for bases where you want a cobblestone way to meander over it.
The greenstuff puddy is dilutable with water. That means, that you can use sculpting tools and a bit of water to form the puddy while it has not dried out. I use it on a regular basis.
I'm now way more likely to place an order with them, but not for the things I thought I wanted. I'm probably tossing the brush and touch up tool sets in the cart and I'll still be getting the punch you didn't like but I'll be getting one with individual leaves and experimenting with different paper color, material, and print for fallen leaves for basing and vehicle camo nets. The rest of what I was eyeing from them is looking like junk.
Same punches on Aliexpress for way less - shame that the scale is more in keeping for 1/35 and above though....
I have problems with my grip when using a spray can in the traditional way, getting a trigger grip changed my hobby life forever
I have the smaller wet pallete from them for over two years now, I use it constantly and it went through 3 moves. It's still as new and works great
They dont think the products are scams!?! this video is a scam. /s.
yall are always fun, and been loving squidley bits
The cork can also be used for sculpting, as I just insert a couple pieces of wire into the cork and create an armature to build up my putty on. and when it gets older you can do fantastic rocks and other scenery for your bases gentlemen, by breaking it down into more manageable chunks.
@SquidmarMiniatures Here is a useful tip for the "leaf hole punch." They work great on paper coffee filters. You can stain the filters ahead of time with a simple dip wash. Great for doing a ton of Autumn leaves quickly.
I literally used them on normal leaves and they worked great
The rivet tool actually works well. It's used by aircraft modelers to put in missing rivets. It works great for that and the plastic isn't as hard as Warhammer plastic
Honestly you guys need to hashtag these videos for beginners as all of them offer great help in insuring quality products are bought and the love of the hobby stays strong!! Great work guys, from a beginner two months in to world eaters!!! Also please do another release of the squidmar wet pallet sold out before I got it🙃
There is a big difference between the word scam and not value for money .
Yea they joke about that in the beginning. I enjoy the humor
If you are making sub par products knowingly you are scamming people. It seems like you are trying to change the definition here.
Yes and it also depends where you live in the world for pricing locally.
@@mherrjI've been buying from them for many years now, they are my main hobby supplier and I've never had any issue with the stuff I bought from them.
Intro was confusing, now I have Green Stuff stuck on my wall :/
Just as with the airbrushes where there is essentially just two companies and 100 rebrands, its the same with "greenstuff", that was not bad greenstuff per se, just old and close to expire.
You guys gotta try the greenstuff world dipping inks. I love them, they are basically contrast paints, and a SUPER saving over GW stuff.
I got a rattle can trigger for using wasp spray.. gives me a whole extra couple of inches distance lol! Aim feels easier too.
Love it
I've bought all sorts of crap from GSW over the years, the tentacle rolling plates are good as are the full size rollers that Lukas mentions. And the GSW Borealis Green Colorshift paint looks amazing on my traitor Titans, flipflops from dark metallic green to purple.
So I bought that spinner/shaker thing. It's much cheaper than vortex shakers and actually works quite well. You don't really hold it in your hand, there's a foam base to hold it on your table. I have nerve damage in my arms and hands and this doesn't bother me at all. For the price, I found it works much better than I expected.
link please? Or name? We orderes these things from China but we are retailers of GSW
@Tabletopbattle GSW Hobby Paint Shaker.
I tried it a few years ago and the end connector snapped within a week, while spinning a paint pot
@BurnInFerNos1 yup I had that happen as well. But you get 3 sized "cups" to hold the different paint pots. I just took one from the size I didn't use. I also learned to make sure the pots were balanced well in the cups to avoid bigger vibrations.
I'm a big fan of my vortex mixer. It works perfectly on pretty heavily separated paints. I can't imagine simply spinning the bottle will provide sufficient mixing even assuming you have mixing balls in it.
"Dirty boys love dirty holes" 😅😅😅 Also love the trash talk of Gundam and Train modellers - think you should do a video where you do a diorama of those two things!
My top tip when it comes to shaking paints.. use a massage gun. You have to hold the pot in place but at least you can use the massage gun for other things
This sounds like a good idea, any more tips? Every try to tape the paint to the gun?
@@Choom89if you have them, sanders are also fantastic tools to mix paints. If you put the bottles into a bag, you can even attach it to the velcro pads and have it spun/shaken this way. Otherwise a buffing pad and juat pressing the paont bottle again works great as well
You need the single Leaves as a hole punch. I have 2 different ones and punch mine out of real leaves. They are super cool and don't need color at all because natural leaves are like perfect.
Do you have to seal them , I though they might go mouldy ?
I like to use coffee filter paper. You can use a colored wash on it, let it dry and punch it. Real leaves dry out and start to break if you dont seal them.
I have one of that rattlecan holders, works really fine! But take care the nozzle of the can point the right direction inside...
I actually really like GSW products and their new paint as well. I like that they are constantly trying to look for new and innovative products to sell. I actually look forwards to their new monthly releases. I think the copyright history thing just gives them a bad name but other than that i really enjoy their products. GSW and DSPIAE are now my go to companies for hobby stuff.
I love the fact, that Lukas used his Ikea cork while testing the brushes
I almost died laughing when helikopter helikopter started 🤣
The paint shaker is allright. I bought mine a couple of weeks ago in my model shop. It's rechargable, and it do mix the paints. It doesn't work miracles though, so if you want to "recover" an almost dry paint I recommend putting some medium and a couple of steel balls as shakers, and after the spin just shake it with your hand. Shaking the bottle up and down after spinning it helps to mix better. its 5-6 times cheaper than a good vortex shaker, so for the price is quite good.
Yes, i recently had a pretty dried out paint that I recovered really well by adding 20~ drops of flow improver to. Came out better than new.
Will a video be coming out on how Lukas is painting that gold metal technique during the ad?
Agree about the Master airbrush! I recently binned mine and got a Fengda airbrush and its incredible how much better it is!
Damn that scanner's 2 grand, I thought it be like 350 - 500, shows ive no knowledge of that tech.
Perhaps there's a market out there to hire one or post an item to be scanned....?
The leaf punch is used to punch real leaves as the source, though it works with paper, which would need to be painted,, but not to punch plastic!
I like to use coffee filter paper. You can use a colored wash on it, let it dry and punch it. Real leaves dry out and start to break if you dont seal them.
With the textured roller, you could use it to texture a cobble stone road or path way. Since most minis are about the right scale for that to be two minis wide?
The circular chop cutter would be great for me. I'm making a custom necron unit of warriors that is half models, half geometric shapes that are forming the models. I was inspired by the psychomancer. I made a test one out of a damaged warrior from my collection and it came out way better than it should have. That chop tool would make it easy to make many pieces of sprue the same size and shape very quickly.
I may have to get my buddy to 3D print a simple version of that with a more solid fence like a normal chop saw. Snipping all those sprue pieces takes time...
I get a bag of 100 Champagne corks for $12 and glue them on 32mm bases. Really cheap when you do a lot of sub-assemblies and paint squads or like me have 20 unfinished projects :P
"I feel scammed holding it..."
Hahahhaha
To be honest I use the green stuff world wet palette because it is quite small and I have limited room on my desk and I have no complaints other than that it did have some mold buildup after a while, but that is to be expected after letting the water sit for a while.
Same here, I added some scrap copper wire under the sponge and haven't had any more mold after that. Could also use a copper coin or something. :)
If used it for over a year now and had no problems with it at all, i would recomend the palett.
@@scottypotty5202 where would you out the wire / coin? Just line it along the edge or have it bunched up in the middle?
@@zblackcapricorn I think as long as its in contact with the water it should work. I have a straight line of wire under the sponge
I use the army painter small size palette and after a few years it have no mold. I also let it dry completely by stop painting for months multiple times and the sponge came back to life.
Good Lord, you two goofballs *always* make me laugh, and I needed a good laugh so thank you!
I’ve got that exact wet palette since it’s release like 2 years ago and it’s still going strong, I’ve only just opened the 2nd sponge
the carving tools can also be used to redo the panel lines on tank models(I'm mainly thinking of ww2 era tanks here) could also do well on any looted ork vehicles, you carve out the lines and then fill them with putty to make realistic welds :) If you can be arsed to do that kinda stuff. would make diorama or painting tourney vehicles pop a bit more
PS: Oooh, cheap green nipple clamps. Just what i needed!
Indeed - who says S&M can't be colourful!!! 😊
I don't understand why anyone spends money on a wet palette when you can just use any plastic tub, baking paper and damp kitchen paper.
As an American I love y'alls Scandinavian accents.
wait.... if you spin the paint bottle like you did at 25:50, isn't that like.. centrifugal? don't people do that to solutions to *separate* their contents from one another?
Oh btw I am absolutely loving my evolution airbrush!!!!!! Just wish I could have got into the hobby around the time you released the black edition.
I use the normal sized wet palette from them and I love it. Its the only one I have used but I've been using it nearly a year and dropped it a few times and left it open over night and it keeps the paint ok.
The clamps I have some from poundland for 6 or 8
I find this kind of video useful
aight! Now, Taobao or bust!!
Those cheapo airbrushes I only use for shooting stuff like varnish or primer, since I'm not a fan of putting it through my Iwata/Badger. Something I don't need to worry about control, or whether or not I gunk it up.
I love that stupid paint spinner. I use it daily because I bring my painting to work so it fits in my bag. Vortex mixer for the desk setup is a great combo.
Now's the time for a video about the best overall with positive adjectives ! All brands included
Enough with the scam videos! We want more classic Squidmar painting videos.
@@kristophskidoo324 glad I'm not alone in this.
I have a few Green Stuff World products in my collection. I bought their small wet palette for 10 € when I got back into the hobby. When you spend like 500 € worth of minis and hobby supplies to get started again, you don't go for the 50 € premium product. It might not be the best wet palette on the market, but for the price they do deliver.
Ive been using the greenstuff wet palette for over a year now and it still works great
Ive had a regualr greenstuff world wet pallette for a few years now its great and just as good as ones ive used at twice the price, love it
Never tried any GSW tools, but I do love the busts they print. Pretty good resin, nice quality and good details.
I really enjoy your videos!😂 thanks I was thinking about checking this shop out.
Hold on to your wallet, they have too much cool stuff to check out xD
I just find the paint shakers pretty funny because honestly you can buy yourself a massage gun. It does two jobs it can shake your paint and then use it to give yourself a massage.
How exactly would that shake your paints
@ you put the paint on the end and turn it on. My wife has a massage gun with a ball shaped attachment and I just hold the paint bottle on that for a few seconds.
Sincerely i mainly use the green stuff and blu stuff from GSW.
But i use also a lot the MDF bases, roller pins, resin accessories and deeping ink (not all of them though, some are wonderful, some are awful).
So, a lot varies bases on the product itself
My Squidmar Evolution CR Plus just made it to my door here in the USA, and I'm so STOKED!!! It's beautiful! 😍
isnt the paint mixer a centrifuge that separate particles?
The GSW wet palet feels really cheap, but I have been using it daily for 2 years, it's definitely not gonna break, for the pric e and what It does it is PERFECT -20/10 !!
Why is Nagash on a square base?!? The madness!!
Oldhammer :)
Two guys who have stake in a wet pallet say they are giving people the wet pallet a fair run after talking shit about it. Wild to me.
Did you miss that we just gave it the highest grade for bang for buck? 🤣
@@SquidmarMiniatures Not before talking smack about the quality of the item and only justifying the purchase because of cost. I dunno man.
Nice weather! It's similar here in Canada right now
1 product by GSW I 110% support are the kolinsky sable silver and gold brushes.
They are my go-tos,and they are amazing
I think the angle cutter depends largely on what you do in your hobby time, green stuff isnt just mini painting and the angle cutter is amazing for making dioramas and set pieces that require precise cuts.
I've been using the liquid greenstuff for quite some time and I love it.
I will say, the Master design white label air brushes may be shit, but they're still very useful, you won't be able to do fine OSL or super fine stuff but it still opens a ton of options up. I recommend the Harbor Freight strategy with these: Get it cause it's dirt cheap, if/when it breaks you can decide if you want to buy another cheapo or get something preem based on how much you used it
Spray can "trigger" are really good for priming, you can find cheap ones for 3 euros
I bought the exact same airbrush with a rechargeable portable air compressor for maybe $15 more than they want for just the brush.
This video is great! Can yall do a more in depth tutorial on your paint set minis?
Gundam is older than Transformers... By 5 years btw... Got into US in 2000's cause they brought only women and swords and sushi back then. :D
I don't know if the larger texture rollers that Lucas preferred have improved since I ordered some from GSW 6-7 years ago, but those were very obviously 3d printed with lots of layer lines that were clearly visible in whatever material you rolled them onto.
As someone in Atlantic beach I was disappointed your shirt was not a hobby group or store
How do you fix a mistake made with Contrast paint that already dried? Should I just paint over it?
The green putty is absolutely useless. You have to fill every gap like 3-4 times because it shrinks so much.
Lucas testing the brush, proceeds to paint insane NMM out of nowhere
For the cork holder i always just use corks from wine bottles. Double the fun, no extra cost
Yeah, I sawn old wooden broom handle to pieces and use those with sticky putty.
@ or any old offcuts or again wine cork, even the plastic ones when using blue sticky stuff
I have myositis so I am going to have to buy a paint shaker, I literally put my wrist out of action for a day just shaking one bottle of paint. Given your reviews I think I'll go for a vortex.
It would be great to see you paint some minis with just cheap supermarket paint and using pigments made from chalk or soft pastels
