Tari Jaran Teji

This Balinese dance was created by I Wayan Dibia in 1985. It tells the story of Dewi Sekartaji who disguised herself as a male rider, along with her consort, to search for her lover, Raden Panji Inu Kertha Pathi who diseappeared from his castle. Inspiration for this dance came from the Sanghyang Jaran, a unique sacred dance that involves fire-walking.

Hi,
Actually the story is about a princess disguising herself as a man. This is taken from the Panji cycle from Java. There's a Sundanese dance called Kandagan which I believe is taken from the same story. The dance you're thinking of might be the Jaran Kepang which is a trance dance from Jawa Timur I think.
