there are a couple thousand chess grandmasters, of which 10 do very well financially, and maybe 50 can make a living at it. thus, there are over a thousand people who have that mental capacity, and nothing to show for it. some of them likely went into poker, which requires quite a different skillset. and their names will likely be "unknown"
I think people with the intelectual capacity to be a gradmaster would land him a job that, if dont pay well, at least allow him to sustain himself and travel to play some championships, in the developed countries, at least. But obviously mostly wouldn't find this lifestyle appealing.
One thing I'll say for Alex, that i believe is very impressive- is she has Outstanding positional awareness of pieces virtual at all times.... And amazing A+ defensive skills that shine like a Mother in her opponents face when she under pressure... The fact that she can hold her own so swiftly against a GM speaks volumes for sure!!! 🍵 ✅ 💯 🐿️
