GIRL! I just recently discovered your channel and YOU DID IT! In literally a year you achieved these goals!!! Congratulations, super inspiring **applause** :D
Hi Kelsey, I just watched your May video showing 7K income and then I watched this. It gave me goosebumps on seeing that you have already overachieved your targets, and that is super cool and gives confidence to people like me who want to start on this journey. THanks for creating such amazing content. :) Love from India
I'm a french independant music producer/singer, not a painter. But your advice are relevent for all people who whants to use Internet to make a living from their art ! Good job 👌🏾
I just saw this video as one of the first ones of yours and let me tell you, girl you are killing it. Seeing so many "old" goals that you have already achieved is just fantastic. Plus it's incredibly inspiring, I know that if you made it, then I can make it too. Thank you so much for sharing all of this on YT, we definitely need to kill the good old "starving artist" myth.
I'm an artist and I just found your channel.... stuff they didn't teach us at school, i'm jotting down everything, your goals are now mine too. thank you so much
It's so awesome to see other artists achieving so much because they didn't give up on their passion. Your video reminded me to slow down and not worry too much about the future: break down all the to do's so they're manageable. I also am noticing within myself that I am having to face all I have been told, that being an artist is foolish or not a real career path. But your videos are giving me hope that it is possible as long as you keep trying. Thank you! :)
You are definitely on track with the biz side, well done! Phase 3 should be Audit, Iterate and Improve! Things change so you always need to build in time to review your work/plan/process and decided what you want to keep, what can be improved, and where you are totally killing it. Also, brb signing up for Notion right now!!
Girl, I just stumbled upon your channel this morning. Two things: thank you for making these videos because you have built a roadmap for others. second thing: you are following really powerful foundational manifestation processes by setting up your own goals and roadmaps. From one artist to another: you’re on your way. This is just the beginning. You got this🎉
This is such a fresh breath of air im a musician and i think i have alot to contribute. But i have been really stagnant for a while becuase of the pressures of perfectionism from both myself and socials so i stopped. Thank you for being trasparent and thorough, i hope to get touring by 2025 and this just brought a hope to a desire ive avoided for sooo long thank you
Taking the leap to being a digital artist from home with my two small children. It’s kinda scary because they obviously make me responsible for a lot but I know I really want to flourish in my skills
I am so glad TH-cam recommended me this video cause I'm loving what your doing! I am in the same boat of trying to become a fulltime artist and seeing checklists like this helps a lot. I am still in the phase of growing my social media presence on TH-cam and Instagram but it's always great seeing other artist growing as well. Your videos look so clean and professional I know its only a matter of time before you check everything off your list!
Thank you so much! A huge reason I started this channel was to connect with & help other artists like me by sharing my journey & progress, so I’m really glad this helped! Welcome to the community! 🥰
I just discovered you a week ago and watching this is super inspiring. I am also on the journey to becoming a self-sustaining artist, although I think I'm more of in Phase 0 or very early Phase 1 lol. Still, seeing where you are now and how you put the work in is really motivational and helps me think of my own plan and how to accomplish it. Thank you!
It feels so passionating to see your road map, I am super inspired to prepare a road map like that. By the recently I turned in to full time artist. Am loving it being a full time artist. though am putting efforts to build passive income streams now . Am pretty confident that I can make it
thank you so much for making these guides, just discovered your channel and every single one of your vids has been insanely helpful so far. i'm just leaving a crushing burnout i got after finishing a second art degree. it took me months (almost half a year) to pick up a pen again and start drawing... i hope i can become a freelance illustrator in the near future. thanks again and i hope you're archieving your goals!
This is great, this is the sort of stuff they should be teaching in art schools. Cause jumping into Freelance without experience is super scary. Thank you for sharing your goals and your steps. This has been incredibly useful as I am not so business savvy.
Thank you for being so motivating Kelsey! I am JUST starting out, in the planning phase, and your encouragement and success really makes me believe I CAN do it! :) You rock
I am in this same boat as you right now and this us very relatable. I also stopped my art career when I was young and now I trying to pick it back up so I feel you. Currently I am planning what things I need to invest in to create a shop (printer, scanner, better editing software, ect) so this video was on point for that. I admire your organization skills and appreciate the template. I will be watching the rest of your content and I would be really grateful if you can stop by channel and give me some feedback as well. Much luck to you in achieving your goals you are doing fantastic 💖
So I checked out your videos, and I think I have three recommendations for you: include some more shot/camera angle variety, improve your audio quality (maybe even by just being a bit closer to the mic, or increasing the volume/gain in post, and to work on your thumbnails a bit more! I'm currently watching your Stabilio pencil unboxing, though I think this is true for your other content as well. You tend to stick with the same camera angle for a long time. If you're noticing in your analytics that you have a low retention rate, or average view duration, this might be why. Attention spans are pretty short these days, and so switching up the camera angle and making shots more interesting (like getting really close to the pencils, or the scissors as you open that box) helps keep the viewer more engaged. Adding background music can help your footage seem more "cinematic" or engaging as well! As for thumbnails, I think the biggest thing I'd suggest is to stick with the same 1-2 fonts throughout 90% of your thumbnails, and to double check that the text is legible when you zoom out. A huge problem I had in the beginning was designing my thumbnails zoomed pretty far in, and thinking the text was legible, when in reality is wasn't super visible when I zoomed out to the degree that you'd see it here on TH-cam. Does that make sense? All of those things help your click through rate on your thumbnails, which is key to getting enough views and watch time to hit that 4k hours mark!
well I am impressed. You are a born teacher...make sure you include that in your earnings...as it is a natural. Teaching others to do and plan what you are doing is in itself a money maker...wish you well. Excellent.
You have provided lots of value and inspiration to many of us aspiring artists. I'm so grateful I found your channel! Thank you so much for helping artists like us who are a bit clueless on how to achieve our goals. I'm watching this now that you have 128k subscribers! So proud of you ❤
It's great to see these videos now that you are on the other side. I've started very recently and these help me when I get anxious about not making it. Thanks a lot for sharing your journey!!
Wow, I’m always so blown away with peoples organisational and planning skills. I need this so bad but I get so lost and overwhelmed trying to make an action plan of my own for days until I burn out. I appreciate you showing yours, it is inspiring. Thank you.
I've been feeling lost and demotivated with my art and career because it's been tough to find another freelance work and I had no direction to where I wanted to go. But I decided to go planning and take action, your videos are helping a lot with that, thank you!
It's been 5 months and i see you're doing really great☺. Hi Kelsey, I just remember my comment here and Im excited to tell you that My own little webcomic is finally growing. When i comment here i have 1 sub and 10 views in webtoon and now i have 208,000 views and 9,800 sub and i getting my first pay this month from ads. And I'm very happy your finally reaching your desired income bit by bit by doing what you love. Your vid really makes me believe i can make it someday too and now I'm doing it... I want to thank you. Keep uploading wonderful vid☺👋
This was extremely helpful and inspiring!! We are in similar situations and i'm on the same journey to becoming a full time artist + content creator. I look forward to using your templates and thanks so much for sharing your journey :) Can't wait to see your growth!!
Oh wow this is incredibly inspiring and has come at exactly the right time for me, over the last couple of days Ive been really worrying about whether my goals are too ambitious etc, but the way you've planned yours out in such easy and achievable chunks has definitely brought me out of my slump! Thanks so much for sharing the notion template too, I'll definitely be using that 😁 Hopefully we'll both be able to achieve our goals!! 🤞🏻🤞🏻 Also, if you had any advice for my channel, I'll be really grateful to hear it ☺️
@@KelseyRodriguez You're right, I do need to improve my thumbnail game haha! I'll have to do some digging to find a font and style that I like :) And that's interesting about focusing on the search-driven content, I'll go and take a look at your other video now! Thanks for the help ^-^
I love your content Kelsey!! You're going to get far in your journey, no doubt! I am on the same page as you. I've been drawing/painting my whole life but I attended college for biology to go into the healthcare field thinking that art wouldn't bring in any money. It's been years now and I wish that I had started sooner but we are lucky to change our paths now
Thank you, Kelsey! This is literally the kind of video I've always wanted to see: someone at the beginning (I think?) of their full-time art career journey and their roadmap. And to top it all off - proof of concept! Because it absolutely worked for you! Congratulations on making your big goal in HALF the time, Kelsey! ♥ I've always struggled with being completely lost on ideas for actionable steps even though I had the excitement to make *something* happen. I just get so overwhelmed and have no idea what tasks to prioritize even if I *do* find actionable steps. So I just get paralyzed, and I ended up doing none of them. Until now, thanks to you! Other artists' videos don't show roadmaps like yours, which I've always wanted even if that makes me sound like I can't pioneer my own life (T^T)
it's great where you are now. really gives me more motivation to keep moving. and how you're being emotional in last minutes gives me even more inspiration. a lot of thanx for sure.
As someone who has been on the artistic journey for some time now, I'm glad to know I'm not alone! Thanks for letting us into the in's and out's of it all.
This helps so much! Im in high school right now and my parents really dont support taking art as career cuz of the starving artist myth so this could end up as my last chance. Your video really motivated me to keep trying!
I'm such an anxious person that bringing myself to plan out my own route is HARD but hearing you talk about yours has brought me so much joy and relief. Thank you so so much for this!!!
I'm graduating high school this year and plan on getting started to map out my art carrer.😄 I never considered art as a career. Because in my country art isn't that much appreciated other than being a good talent that might help in other career😢. But after watching so many artists on the internet I realized My Dream once all over again😇. So now I'm doing my research and found your channel by coincidence. Your videos are so informative & inspiring😍😍😍. I love your channel and hope to make one just like your's which is fun and inspiring but in my way😀😀😀
I've just found you but wow, this is very inspirational! I love your confidence and I'm happy to see how much you've progressed in the past 11months (since publishing this video). I'm so happy for you!
I love how transparent your content is with tools, techniques, and dollars. I just discovered your podcast- I keep hearing you say you want to be providing quality value. Gurl- you're killing it.
I love your approach to building the artist career! It's similar of what I've started doing just month ago using my knowledge from previous fail attempts and my experiences from project managemwntu, content/community management etc. Wish you gl, thx for your videos!
I really love your transparency on your goals. I'm currently trying to build audience and sometimes have anxiety and depression that it might not lead anywhere and might drop it to find other jobs. But it's good to have someone out there that are going the same path and sharing the experience as they go and I can really see how you've grown overtime.
I think there should be a phase 0 for beginners entering the art field and it should be all about learning skills. Whatever art form you’re interested in (painting, drawing, animation, filmmaking, digital art, 3D modeling, digital/physical comics, video creation, visual effects, etc) you gotta learn and get good at it first. Then you have to learn business skills, digital marketing, e-commerce, content creation, social media marketing, finance… anything that will give you the necessary tools to monetize your skills online
You have no idea how much you inspire me. Since watching you, I've created my plan. I even pushed myself to make my first TH-cam video. Thank you so much, I look forward to your next video. Your going to hit your 🎯.
this is quality content! Thank you for sharing your business planning, it’s inspiring me and I am going to do the exact same kind of roadmap for my art 💜
Looks like you have been achieving your goals and will definitely get far in your art career...love it! You are one talented Go-Getter and thank you for sharing a wealth of resources in your videos. Started using a few already. I just joined Notion thanks to your video and using your template as a starter to keep more organized, it's awesome! I will definitely use your resource affiliate links when possible so you can get monetized appropriately. 🤩
🌺 I love your videos ✨ I've recently discovered your channel and you are answering all the questions I've been wondering about. The self doubt is overwhelming sometimes, wondering if I can make it and not knowing what to do. Thank you so much for making your videos! ☺️💕
I'm showing up a year after this video was posted (I found out about your channel from Adam Duff's videos!) and it's CRAZY seeing you talk about having that 1k subscriber goal and glancing down to see that you've literally got 125x that- that is SO cool, congrats!! If you're still willing to give channel feedback, I'd really love even the most basic pointers. I'm utterly in awe of how efficient and organised you seem- I'd love to see more of how your planning process works for videos or creative works!
Yeah! Without even watching your videos but just taking a look at your channel I can tell you two things: you need to change the font of your thumbnails to be something a bit clunkier and easier to read (or use white text with a drop shadow to really maximize contrast!) and you also need to stop splitting things into two parts. An entertaining 20m video with a good voiceover throughout (think Adam Duff) is going to be a better experience than two ten minute videos. Splitting things into two parts is basically always a mistake for speedpaints IMO. Also, your titles might need some work as well. Speed paint is a SUPER popular genre and you’re going to struggle to stand out there, so consider adding a voiceover with a different topic (like art block or productivity) and basing your title around that, adding “speedpaint” on to the end. This would look like “Why Art Block Isn’t Real ✨ digital speedpaint” or something
@@KelseyRodriguez Ah thank you!! I'll definitely need to try the drop shadow effect- the two-part speedpaints with no voiceover were absolutely a temporary stopgap when I was unable to record but didn't want to displease the algorithm. Punchier titles are something I struggle a lot with, but I'm going to give it a try!! Thank you so much, really!
You’re so awesome! Thank you so much for everything you share. You really touched my heart on this specific video. You got me crying (in a good way) thank you Kelsey!
Kelsey, Thank you for this video! I have been in a creative rut for the past few months, contemplating trying to build a following on IG and restarting my YT channel. Your video has given me some motivation to get moving! Thank you!
This info is so helpful and gives me hope! I feel like I waited waayyyy to long to get started in a way that works. I JUST started a TH-cam channel, it’s a bit rusty still but if you have any advice I will happily accept! Working on a plan to build an audience. Headed to watch more of your videos and take notes :) keep up what you’re doing it’s so awesome seeing artists be successful and transparent about the business side that is always confusing to most. Thank you :)
Wow! Thank you so much for sharing! I’m just finding your channel, but based on this video I see why you surpassed your initial goals! Congratulations! 🎉🎉🎉
This was super inspiring ! I'm not solely an artist but I plan to make TH-cam a consistent part of my income stream, on track to get monetized next year !
Hi Kelsey, Thank you so much for your videos, especially this one and thank you so much for the notion template you've shared, it's so appreciated. Excited for your growth and wishing you the best of luck. I know your channel is going to grow and you hit your financial targets quickly. 🥰💖😊💖😊💖
Hey Kelsey :) Thanks for all your great tips and art advice you put out here. I have been following your channel and its nice to see your growth and your consistency in your uploads. If you have any tips for my channel that would be greatly appreciated! Im quite new to the youtube community but Im loving the art channels on here and tuning in with my fav youtubers once or twice a week. My aim is to grow my channel, sharing what I love, projects Im working on and some of my process I can share with others. thanks for your time reading this and I will be keen to support your patreon or buy a notion template from you. Love the work you do. Cheers!
I was just wondering if you would share the template and there you go telling us that you actually did make a template! I really wish artists would have been this transparant. This is really gonna help. You earned a subscriber
This video is so amazing I am soo happy I found your channel! Your videos are real, sometimes I hear you and I think I'm listening to my own thoughts ahaha I really appreciate your videos and super happy to be part of your TH-cam growth and you of mine!!! THANK YOU!
Thank you, I am aiming to build my art career as well :D I published three coloring books so far, and am working on a fourth, as well as working on growing my Instagram and TH-cam channel :)
@@KelseyRodriguez in my future plan, Im looking to transition from Etsy to my own website. I would love to hear your thoughts on which website (wix, Shopify, etc) would be best for creators!
You're so young. And your teaching style is very clear. It's 100% possible for you. (My only constructive criticism to to request you slow down talking just a little bit. The CC isn't always accurate.) I followed. :-)
I would love some feedback- I've been trying different styles of video types lately. I want to show more art stuff that I like and not so much on keywords/ answering questions type videos... This video had a wealth of knowledge and tips and just general good directional advice! Thank you! :)
Hey Kendra! You’ve got a great on camera presence, which will absolutely take you far, but I think your main issue right now is the speed of your intros and the lighting. Your storytelling ability does keep me engaged but better lit shots when you’re showing off things like mirror paint and maybe hinting at the cool possibilities will keep people watching for longer. TH-camrs I recommend you study are people like Valerie Lin, Film Booth, and Jazza. All very different people but they’re a good group to study to learn about pacing, shot variety, snappy intros, and storytelling with stakes.
Hi girl I just want to let you know how bright of a light you were when I stumbled across your page, I’ve been wondering how the hell I’m going to make my artistic endeavours my full-time income; I’ve been passively making income doing commissions for over a year but I really want to take it to the next level and you’re totally inspiring me; I’ll definitely be downloading your notion template 🤍✨ much love

@@KelseyRodriguez You're right, I do need to improve my thumbnail game haha! I'll have to do some digging to find a font and style that I like :) And that's interesting about focusing on the search-driven content, I'll go and take a look at your other video now! Thanks for the help ^-^
Seeing that you reached your goals is so inspiring! I hope I’ll be able to do it too one day. I’ so proud of you! 🥹💖
Every now and then I come back to this video for inspiration and just pure joy to see baby Kelsey knowing she reached those goals and deservedly so!
it was just a little bit over a year ago but it feels so much longer than that looking back!
I love your content Kelsey!! You're going to get far in your journey, no doubt! I am on the same page as you. I've been drawing/painting my whole life but I attended college for biology to go into the healthcare field thinking that art wouldn't bring in any money. It's been years now and I wish that I had started sooner but we are lucky to change our paths now
I can hear the passion in your voice babygirl🙏🏾 Thank you for all that you do. You’ll far exceed your goals 👏🏾
I've always struggled with being completely lost on ideas for actionable steps even though I had the excitement to make *something* happen.
Watching this video for the 100x because I'm getting ready to start up. You're such an inspiration and I'm so grateful for the videos.
it's great where you are now. really gives me more motivation to keep moving. and how you're being emotional in last minutes gives me even more inspiration. a lot of thanx for sure.
I just came across your channel today, and seeing you talk about your goals 2 years back, and having achieved it today is so inspiring!
Your video really motivated me to keep trying!
this is so inspirational, we really need more content creators like you!!
I'm now here in july 2022 and I'm so proud of you, you made so much effort here and i hope you reach 100k soon ❤️❤️🙏
I'm such an anxious person that bringing myself to plan out my own route is HARD but hearing you talk about yours has brought me so much joy and relief. Thank you so so much for this!!!
I'm graduating high school this year and plan on getting started to map out my art carrer.😄
I never considered art as a career.
I’m just seeing this video, but girl, let’s do this! I’m rooting for you while get on track myself 💪🏼
You got this! Just takes consistent effort & patience! ☀️💕
Thank you so much for this video! It was so helpful and seeing you achieve your goals is so motivating, makes me feel like I can make it too!
Wish you gl, thx for your videos!
this time last year you had 500 subscribers and now a year later you have 100,000 subscribers! congratulations!
I really love your transparency on your goals. I'm currently trying to build audience and sometimes have anxiety and depression that it might not lead anywhere and might drop it to find other jobs. But it's good to have someone out there that are going the same path and sharing the experience as they go and I can really see how you've grown overtime.
This was so helpful! I'm planning to do the same soon! Best of luck to you with your channel growth, I'm excited to follow your journey 😊
I'm so happy this was useful for you! Let me know if there's anything else you want to see from me in the future, I love to take viewer suggestions
Girl glad I found your account! Super helpful, gonna binge watch it all!
Aahh thank you!! Help me get those 4,000 watch hours to reach monetization 🥰💕 Welcome to the community!!
You are truly a treasure. Thank you for your transparency and wisdom 🤍
Thank you so much!! You give me so much inspiration to conquer my fear of earning money with my art!!
YOU ARE AMAZING! Thank you SO MUCH for sharing
You have no idea how much you inspire me. Since watching you, I've created my plan. I even pushed myself to make my first TH-cam video.
Thank you so much, I look forward to your next video. Your going to hit your 🎯.
this is quality content! Thank you for sharing your business planning, it’s inspiring me and I am going to do the exact same kind of roadmap for my art 💜
thank you so much for the template! it means a lot for a adhd/depressed artist like me
Of course! I hope it serves you well!
Thank you!
Thanks!
Thank you Kelsey for the video. Best wishes in New York City it sounds very exciting. I feel inspired . have a fantastical day.
Thank you! You too!
the video was super informative:)) loved every single detail you shared in this... thanks for sharing your views :))
Glad you liked it!!
Congrats! I’m just about to get monetized myself, you’ll be surprised how you can speed things up by posting consistently and constantly improving!
Holy cow an actually helpful channel about making an art career!! Thank you so much, definitely following your vids!!

Hey kelsey, it is worth watching your videos and gave me energy to get started. Loved the content ❤️

This is super helpful!! Thank you!!! Sending lots of well wishes - you're awesome!
Your comments are making my day! Thanks for watching! 🥰
You GOT DIS!
Thank you for the template, I will definetly use that! So glad I discovered your channel ❤
You're so young. And your teaching style is very clear. It's 100% possible for you. (My only constructive criticism to to request you slow down talking just a little bit. The CC isn't always accurate.) I followed. :-)
Thank you! I appreciate the constructive criticism, I’ll work on making the CC more accurate going forward 💗
I love this video and I really appreciate how heartfelt you are overall
thank u for sharing, loved 2 of yr vids so far really helpful!
Omg you are the best! I just found your channel and really love your videos! Good luck on your journey! I want to grow as well as you! ❤️
Thanks for this great video! It's very inspiring and I hope you succeed.
This is super informative and your plan is so well structured! Wish you the best for achieving your goals! You got this!
Woah more subs came in since you made this video! Very cool, I think you might blow up soon your videos are so high quality.
I hope so! Fingers crossed. My first short got almost 300 views today, which is insaaanneee!
i so grateful for your content thank you so much
I would love some feedback- I've been trying different styles of video types lately.
Comments like this really genuinely make my day, thank you Macky! Feel free to let me know if you have any questions or suggestions for videos in the future
