Never forget this man came up with the game plan that took down an undefeated pats team and held them to 14 points
If not for Spags we would be living in a world where Tom Brady has the only 19-0 season ever and another SB.
@@RyanD2558 Spags is a QB killer. It's what he does.
Its the NFL though so most of the world views this type of reasoning as why its kind of rigged
@@Drpeppehr
People believe a lot of things without proof. It's okay if they believe the NFL is run by space aliens, or shadow governments.
@@Drpeppehrrigged? GTF outta here! This ain't wrastling.
One of the best coordinators of all time, but THE BEST big game coordinator in NFL history. As a Chiefs fan, I think I speak for everyone when I say we are so fortunate to have him.
This man is a national treasure and KC should protect him at all costs.
One of the best Defensive Coordinators of All Time.. I still have horrible flashbacks of Romeo Crennel & Clancy Pendergast as our DC.. Bob Sutton was meh.. He was a hit or miss.
him finally having a top flight DB room in KC is almost unfair to the rest of the league lol, as a fellow Chiefs fan I hope he stays forever and gets paid the money he deserves on every future contract.
Yup. I'm a Giants fan and we're forever grateful for what he did for us in that 2008 Super Bowl against the Patriots. I was sad to see him go, but I was happy to see that he ended up with the Chiefs. To me he's the best DC in the league, hands down. Glad to see Spags is finally getting the recognition he deserves.
The best, most in-depth interview I have ever heard with Spags. What a great guy. No wonder guys play so hard for him.
Spags is the 🐐 of coordinators in the NFL
This is the sort of shit we should have in mainstream media with millions of views. REAL FOOTBALL talk. thank you for this video!
Real football people no bs
this is NOT fecal matter!
lol uk lingo, my bad@@davetrayford
Niners fan here, but I can listen to Spags all day. What a great coach that loves his craft.
He genuinely respects Kyle, even though he isn't perfect, he's good for you guys.
Chiefs fan here, same with Kyle Shanahan man, what a brilliant mind, I really love how he thinks and it's always scary to face him
@@xerosolar307 yep, we're lucky to get the win. Better luck next time SF.
Nah. You guys won that fair and square. Spags had a masterclass gameplan and it worked. I just the Niners can give Purdy a god damn OL. He had free rushers in his face for the past 2 seasons and it’s exhausting.
I'm 9'ers fan too. This is guy most responsible for our loss. My hats off to him.
I felt it, and knew, deep, down inside when I heard Chris Jones shout "In Spags we trust!" on opening night
Spags signing back up instead of hunting for a Head Coaching gig gave him legendary status in Chiefs history, if it wasnt there already
spags the goat! im selfish and want him to never leave the chiefs!
What a coach. 49er fan here.
It is such a joy to listen to a very smart coordinator. He explains the concept & credits how his players perform. He appreciates smart players & must be a great teacher. I am so tired of coordinators hyping themselves to get a coaching job. Buddy Ryan had one good season with extraordinary players. He could never duplicate it. I think Spagnuola will be a 1st-round Hall of Fame inductee with a host of players from two Super Bowl winning teams to escort him in. I will enjoy watching both sides of the Chiefs next year. Thanks to the hosts of this interview.
I don't think there is a coordinator in the HoF. It would be great if Spags gets in, a testament to arguably a GOAT DC career
When Eli makes the Hall Of Fame Spags should be the first person he thanks
Hola, soy mexicana. Felicidades a Steve Spagnuolo, es el mejor Coordinador Defensivo de la NFL 🎉🎉🎉
KC Jefes Campeones Yupiiiiiiii 💖😃😃
Hellow, I'm mexican. Congratulations to Steve Spagnuolo, he is the best Defensive Coordinator at NFL 🎉🎉🎉
KC Chiefs Champions Urra !!! 💖😃😃
I love Spags so much man. Finally he gets the recognition/flowers he deserves
Coach Spags what an interesting guy. I could listen to them talk story all day. We are so blessed!
Finally!! A spagnuolo interview. I've been looking for him
Same here!!!! Fascinating isn't it?
So glad we were able to get Spags extended into next year and beyond. His insight and vision, combined with a true love of his players is unequalled in the NFL. Thank youSpags, for being the missing leadership link on Defense we have needed for too long! You are the Yoda of Defense! GO CHIEFS!
That Super Bowl was a damn master class showing!!
DUDE this is badass. Thank you algorithm for bringing me here!!!
Spags-what a humble, down-to-earth gentleman. Awesome interview guys.
Spags loves football...the excitement he gets in just talking it is amazing
He is amazing. Took out Buffalo and Baltimore at home, too. Allen and Lamar.
And purdy. Dude is a wizard man
Listening to Spags, it's easy to understand why he's been such a successful coordinator. Not only knows the game, but his players and the confidence he seems to give them. Amazing!
Spagnuolo... a grandmaster at his craft.
a heartbroken 49ers fan sends all the respect.
IN SPAGS WE TRUST
To limit what McCaffery can do was extremely impressive, KC will be a force for many many years
They beat CMC up.
Spags has mastered NFL defence.
Andy Reid has mastered NFL offence
And yet they would tell you it's their ability to evolve that matters. They are masters, IMO, because they don't rest on their laurels. They empower people.
Chiamarri Conner's versatility was also key as he always plays the third safety in the box
Thank all of you soooo much for this! I had been looking for an extended discussion with Spags. Having you two conduct the interview was icing on the cake. In my mind no coach in the NFL is more special than Spags, as a man, a coach, a mentor and a man of faith. Thanks again. And thank you Spags for everything ..,. the best is yet to come.
The fact that Spags is so confident and great, that he will explain most parts of his thinking when attacking this team...is bonkers to me?! This is AMAZING content fellas!! OH MY GOSH!! AND...he has the UTMOST respect for you two!!! WOW!!! - KC FAN here
What a fantastic conversation between these guys. Spags is incredible. My favorite post Super Bowl conversation, and I’ve watched a lot. Thank you Spags for such great work getting the most out of so many great players.
As someone who was rooting for the patriots and niners in those Superbowls, this guy is the goat coordinator
As Justin Reid, said, "we love Spags!"
Awesome video, thank you for this. Could listen to Spags talk defence all day.
In Spags we trust
Niners fan here.. Steve Wilkes got fired today. Wish we could ask you to join our team. Love how you beat the Patriots during Manning’s era.
I think Shanahan should have been fired before Wilkes. Chiefs fan here
Such a pleasure to listen to Spags breakdown his thought process and game plan. Good job fellas!
This coach deserves another chance to be a head coach
Chiefs defense much better than before. Chiefs defense are the best ever that they ever had
A true master of his craft.
As a niners fan, you guys are the best and steve spagnuolo is going down as the greatest DC ever...My niners are like the nineties bills because we're up against the chiefs...
The interview I was looking for after the Superbowl!!!
22:50 that call was key ! A young Purdy didn’t do as usually taught (you throw to the spot where the blitz come so to BA) bit dis as in practice (that’s what he said) by throwing to Juaun. Then the missed assignement by Burdord killed us in OT
One of the best teachers in the sport. Spags is awesome!
Spags, Reid, Mahomes--wow
And add Brett Veach with the draft.
KC loves Coach Spag and glad he’s going to be around a couple more years but he does deserve HC job again
My first time watching. This was terrific in terms of the questions asked and, of course Spag’s responses. Best post game show ever.
WOW...What a great interview. Thanks guys....AWESOME JOB!!!
Niners fan here. Spags was the MVP of that SB. He is a master of disguising blitzes and the play of the game was that 3rd and 4 with 2 min left. KC had 2 TO. Kyles ego got the best of him and he called a pass where running left twice ices the game.
Brock is great but he’s young. He’s 1 1/2 seasons in. Spags disguised that blitz perfect and forced the Niners to kick a FG.
To me that was the game. Why Kyle wanted to challenge the guy that shut down Tom Brady in his undefeated season with a young QB when he has the best RB and LT in the game is beyond my scope.
Brock Purdy passing in OT on 3rd and 4 was NOT a disguised blitz.
What happened is 49ers backup OL Spencer Burford decided to ignore his blocking assignment choosing to "play from instinct" instead. This allowed Chris Jones to run free unblocked at Brock Purdy. It wasn't a missed protection. In an after game interview, 49ers backup OL Spencer Burford said he decided to "play from instinct" instead of following his blocking assignment. It wasn't Spags disguising a blitz on that play. It was OL Spencer Burford killing an easy TD to Jauan Jennings by being fucking stupid!!! If Spencer Burford would have followed his blocking assignment blocking Chris Jones, Brock Purdy had an EASY touchdown to a wide open Jauan Jennings. Spencer Burford fucked up and cost the 49ers an OT touchdown.
He's referring to the 3rd and 4 in the 4th quarter with 2 minutes left
Wow. Outstanding interview. I love understanding about what happens behind the scenes. Thank you for getting this out of Steve.
Gees, what a get! Spags two days after the Bowl? You guys got some juice . Great show and interview-great insight!
Fantastic interview. Thanks guys!
He is playing chess, what a defensive mind.
i’m a 49ers fan and i’m soo amazed with Spags,and scared 😱
Damn. Dont you know season ending exit meetings at KC headquarters was like being on cloud 9. Everyone excited as can be. Big win! Big Checks! Big Parade! Big Vacation! Back to it getting ready for the draft. It doesn't get any better! Good for Them!
What an amazing interview! Thank you guys!
Love this. Baldy, Cuz and Spags are a teeat to listen to.
Amazing content! Thanks so much.
Goat DC
Awesome Convo! Spags is the maestro
KC Defense all these talking heads on the networks keep underestimating them and Sneed man I have never seen a CB shutdown in man every teams number 1 making them a non factor in every game dude is so underrated.
Sneed should be an all pro
Great interview guys!!! So good. God Bless you and the Kansas City Chiefs!!!
I really hope Spags sticks around and takes the reigns from Andy. I love that guy.
Whoever places Reid will be an offensive guy.
Only 6 teams have an ex-DC as HC.
Also, Spags is too old and has already failed as a HC.
@@RK-um9tuNever took old the guy is genius, the best D- coordinator
Would you trust a 30 yr old surgeon or 70 yr old w/ a lot of experience ??
Of course he is like a experience surgeon .
@VickieGhadyani-bj2fi I don't know, I would take the 30-year-old surgeon. He's got a lot to lose. The 70-year-old I'm going to be worried about the steadiness of those hands.
@@jeremywendell5501 as a general rule of thumb with medicine experience is far more important than anything else. 70 is pushing it tho.
Spags and Andy are about the same age. I'm more concerned if they retire at the same time honestly as that's more likely than just Andy retiring.
The best out there by a country mile. Stay at KC forever ❤
Wow was this a fantastic interview.
Great interview!!
IN SPAGS WE TRUST #ChiefsKingdom
What a great interview
When Andy retires I like Spags as the goto as a replacement.
Or EB
@@southernbelle6200 nope EB no good
Love the Nebraska sweatshirt, Go Big Red!
What a great coach he is and explains thing so well

Great stuff!
Hall Of Famer.
In Spags we trust.
Love you guys!!!!
Great show learned alot
Thank you, Steve!
Spags is the goat
Absolute fucking legend
Love listening to spags. Nobody better take him from us
I think he's sticking around. His wife finally moved to Kansas City. I here she bakes wonderful cookies.
Apparently they were able to sign him to either an extension or a new contract. Sounds like he's staying for a while!
@@Orphim in another interview yesterday, Spags said he would love to head coach again. If he was offered, the Chiefs would let him go.
@@MrDavidknigge He said it in this interview as well. But his wife finally moved down here and I don't know if he'd want to uproot now that he finally has her here. I know I'd be more than happy winning Super Bowls with, as he described it, possibly the best group he's ever had. And that's saying something considering the Giants defense he had.
Man I love this guy
We are Blessed . Spaggs is the best defensive coordinator in history.
There was no doubt going into that game that a spy on Purdy was going to need to be factored in. He was enough of a scramble threat in big plays that it had to be worked in.
Brilliant
this is some good stuff.
Good stuff.
This tells me that Spags didn't respect Kittle as a pass catcher or route runner. If Kittle is who we think he is he should have been the gameplan. He was covered by LBs and safeties all game. Maybe he isn't the route runner/pass catcher we think he is.
Hard to break free on man coverage when you’re not a great route runner
Been telling people this for years. It’s disrespectful that he ever got compared to a guy like Kelce
Spags explained that taking away the run was priority one and that can't be done while also doubling the TE.
Love Spags, but damn.... Straighten that picture on the wall.
Are you related to Monk..lol
ya'll know so much it's neat
That 2018 AFCCG loss to the Pats was the best thing that happened to this Chiefs dynasty
❤Steve, we trust
Spags giving massive praise to Brock! 👍👍👍
Good conversation, but I would like to have seen what would have happened if the punt hadn’t hit the 49’er in the leg.
And if my aunt had nuts she'd be my uncle.
That's the point though. It required a perfect game and it wasn't.
I don’t think it took a perfect game by any stretch… look how just executing the play at the 2:00 minute mark would have won the game for SF despite mistakes made earlier. My point is that an obviously unforced ‘lucky/unlucky’ bounce of the ball changed the game in score (and importantly momentum), which would have been interesting to see how it might have played out had that bounce not happened.@@MrDavidknigge
@@ebae7355 but KC made the play at 2:00. So now you want to erase your bad play there and then negate their good play elsewhere? Okay. It was a close game and if you could have changed the biggest plays in the biggest moments...Detroit would like a word with you.
@@MrDavidknigge Geez, read the comment again dude. You said perfection was needed, and I made the point that it didn't require perfection by making the comment showing that if ONE more play there (or at other instances) had been made; KC would have lost - and there would still have been a LESS than perfect game played. You are not very cohesive in your thinking - especially as you began commenting about the initial point I noted of a serendipitous bounce (misfortune) changing the game at that point. You haven't shown the ability to exercise insight in your comments, so I will just leave you with that - and your own narrative..
Good news for football fans. Spags just had his contract extended on the day of the Super Bowl parade. Spags is staying a Chief.
43:08 Patrick Mahomes would be like, "Take that! Shohei Ohtani! You ain't winning a Championship though."
Can't stop looking at Baldy's pinky! Why doesn't he get it fixed?
MVP! MVP! MVP! MVP! MVP! MVP! MVP! MVP! MVP! ... Did I mention, MVP?!?!
And everyone says Mahommes
It really was the defense this year
Cool❤
