Had Mao (1893De26TuSerpent) successfully restrained Chiang Kai-shek (1887Oc31MoSwine) from fleeing China to the island of Taiwan during the Chinese Civil War in 1949, the currently intricate relationship between China and Taiwan in question would have been made basically uncomplicated. If the UN had recognised the ROC as an independently individual nation, it would have granted a commonly well grounded membership to the ROC in question.
