It is more upto individual, I was able to save 3500 out of 5500 for my MBA, and then there was a time when I was not saving a penny even though my salary had quadrupled There are some cons too such as you need to pay for your kids education which is expensive yet the quality may not be that great though the gov has some good policies to keep an eye on schools' performance. There is no social security system. You need to secure a new job in a month in case of losing an existing one else you will be living illegally as visa gets cancelled by the sponsor. (New policies such as golden visa and green visas have been introduced, but they don't apply to masses). One of the major advantages of GCC is the opportunities to earn well, you can get highly paid and it is tax free. It now depends on individuals who wants to live in today a luxurious life or save for future. It is difficult in Canada to sace hard cash. If you earning 120K plus yearly, the tax rate is more than 30% and even the child benefits are reduced, therefore you would hardly save 1000-2000 per month which might you would spend by end of the year if you choose to travel where as in GCC ppl visit home for weekends too because they have cash in hand plus home is 3-4 hrs away (subcontinent). At the same time, Canada will give you retirement plan whereas in GCC it comes to your end of service benefits and savings which again will not be great if you were getting a lesser salary. The answer to the video topic differs from person to person, 1. Stay in GCC if you like glitter, want to stay close to home country, wants things at door step like grocery, laundry, cheap housekeeping etc. 2. Move to Canada if you want a permanent place and a second home (other than ur home country) for your kids, retire in peace, ready to do things on ur own, ready to stay away from friends n family for few years as travelling yearly is not viable, prefer work life balance over high pay. I am writing this based on personal experience as a resident of UAE for 22 yrs (since age of 14) and also a potential Canadian PR holder inshAllah. I am at the moment going through a similar assessment as I lose and gain something or the other irrespective of the choice I make. The biggest gain which inclines me towards Canada is a secure future of my kids where I dont have to worry about their Education and they getting worried about leaving country if the visa doesn't get renewed even though they are born here .

I think I have saved lot of money in Dubai cause of zero income tax but since we came here savings were very very low but what I felt that they made Dubai in a way that whatever you make there you tend to spend there.
