It depends. These leaves are from wild vines rather than vines grown to produce grapes. They rarely have much on them in the way of fruit. These are thinner and more tender than grape leaves from vines for grapes.
Not necessarily but it must look like the leaves shown here to be edible and tender. I have not seen that on anything but wild grape vines that do not bear much if any fruit.
Thank you for this--we never preserved or pickled the leaves but I love the idea. My cousins in Lebanon do that and I've always wanted to try it. Plus, flavor!
No, grape vines that are meant to produce grapes are not as tender as these. These are wild vines that often grow near water, on other trees and along fences.
@@maureenabood but are they still edible? I have a very prolific plant that grows like mad that produces an abundance of tiny grapes, but it seems a waste to cut back and waste the leaves if they are full of nutrients.
@@gymbro204 right?! My research suggests that they're all edible but those with thick, furry leaves of course would not be good for eating! I'm reaching out to a specialist to be certain that claim that all are edible is correct. Will report back!
Thanks😊
Thank you! I let the wild grape vines go wild in my yard over the last few years just to have Warak einab

If they look like the leaves in my video, they sound like just the right leaves for eating!

@@gymbro204 I don't know if the variety you have is edible...does seem like a waste but grape leave rolls are made with just this wild vine leaf.
@@maureenabood Thanks for your reply. Maybe a better question would be: "Are there any grape leaves that aren't edible?
