  • PortAventura World is the best theme park resort in Spain. Located in Salou, the original park blends immersive theming and quality rides in a manner similar to the Busch Gardens parks. Find out why this resort needs to be on your bucket list in this review!
    If you want to learn more about Ferrari Land, here is my separate review on this resort's second theme park.

      That's a common occurrence. They time the coasters so they intersect in the lift hills. Because of this, on about half of the elements the trains will race each other.

    I have been there for 4 days (including the arrival and departure day) in 2014, and we stayed in the western themed hotel. We really enjoyed our stay here and one perk of being a resort guest was that once bought, you could use your fastpass during the entire stay, so for 50€ we basically had four days of no lines. Does anyone know if it’s still like that?

      As far as I know, now they give the basic express pass (just 1 express/ride) per each person staying in the hotels, and although that may be only with some kind of offer, I'm pretty sure it's the hotel policy they've got now.

    My grandparents live in Cambrils, just a 20 minute drive from the park, so I have probably gone to PortAventura like a dozen times since I was a child. I have such a big attachment with it as it is a big part of my childhood, so I'm a bit biased, but I visited Euro Disney as a teen and I think it doesn't even hold a candle to PortAventura, unless you're a total Disney fanboy I guess.

    • @CanobieCoaster

      As noted in the comment, they sell a ton of Express passes in peak season, which causes the standby line to move at a slower rate. Not many people had them at Christmas.

    • @joanaguayoplanell4912
      @joanaguayoplanell4912 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's not entirely accurate. The rides run 2-3 trains as often as possible. Problem is during winter the winds are so frequent, it's not feasible to run multiple trains in the vast majority of days.
      I generally go to the park in those days, and I am more surprised when I DON'T constantly hear the "Els informem que l'atracció Dragon Khan no pot funcionar a ple rendiment, degut a les adverses condicions meteorològiques" message repeated all around the park.

    While I loved the park (it's my 4th favorite in Europe), the biggest drawback for me was the single pathway that goes around the park. I've visited this park on busy days, and it was impossible to get from 1 side of the park to the other in any pace at all. There is just a single path going around the park, and in a lot of places it's not very wide. I'm sure this isn't as much of a drawback during a quieter day, but it really sucked for us.

    Ferrari land really does need another big coaster and a family coaster to be worth more than half a day of anyone's time.
    Portaventura park is a legitimately brilliant park. I feel it compares very favourably to Busch Gardens Tampa/ Williamsburg. I do think it could do with one more big coaster. Personally I feel that a large scale B&M invert or a B&M flyer (maybe in the Polynesia section?) would fit perfectly. Reliable, high capacity and world class attractions if the layout is done properly.

    El Diablo is pretty bad. I was really shocked how janky the transitions were and how bad the layout is. I have to say I'm European and didn't experience any other Arrow mine trains by now. I only know that Vekoma built minetrains that were 100% better at the same time. Calamity Mine at Walibi Belgium is several years older and Colorado Adventure at Phantasialand is only one year younger. This thing has no reason to exist the way it is. It even opened with the park so it was basically constructed on flat land.

      I agree the Vekoma ones tend to be better.

    Imagine a quote that you would say:
    "The coaster has a neat layout. The racing is excellent since the two trains run next to the other for much of the course, with some wonderful laterals on the turns and turnarounds, and some airtime on the first half drops and hills. Those who rode on in its opening year said that the ride was intense. They said that it was an airtime and lateral machine. But now it has two issues. One, there's a trim brake on the first drop added after its opening season, so on the bunny hill finale the airtime was gone and you're crawling. Two, the ride can run rough if you're further back in the train. So for a better ride, try for the front row if possible".

    At PortAventura and many parks around the world there is a swinging ship ride, what do you think about the swinging ship rides?

    • @CanobieCoaster
      @CanobieCoaster  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not a fan of them. They can make me queasy.

    The swinging ship rides are found by many as fun, but why are you usually not a big fan of those rides? What happens with them?

    And if you go to all parks with rides and coasters in Spain, would you like to go to:
    The Intamin ZacSpin
    The Vekoma SLC
    The B&M hyper
    The B&M sit down looper
    The Intamin wing launch
    The CCI woodies
    The Vekoma giant inverted boomerang
    The B&M Batman invert clone
    The B&M floorless
    The RCCA wooden

      I'll try the SLC and RCCA wood coaster I haven't ridden, but I expect them to be poor.
