    Wow! Fascinating! Brother Gregor is amazing and (I'm guessing!) the improvisation at the end of the video was again astonishing. But how enlighted! It is remarkable to think that the new 'choir' division will be 'English' in character and integrated into the whole Rieger instrument. The new console looks like it is going to be very high tech and I'm already looking forward to your return visit to record the organ's journey into the next chapter of its history. Thank you!

      Greg is quite an improviser - it’s like listening to Mendelssohn and Rheinberger fighting over a tune! Don’t forget - he’s at the organ for hours and hours every day (the 2 for liturgy he mentioned was a very conservative estimate!) and knows the instrument better than its builders!

    Great video Fraser as always! Beautiful sound. Frater Gregor certainly knows his organ and his music. I can't help but wonder what you said that gave him a smile and laugh at the end!

    Thank you for this wonderful tour, wonderful music, and to be able to share the excitement of the arrival of the new console. Frater Gregor’s improvisation is always inspirational and was a stunning backdrop for the arrival! Some incredible tech and innovation happening here. Can’t wait for the next episode!!! 😊

    Vielen Dank to you and Frater Gregor from New Zealand. My very first thought was “two consoles … two organists .. dare one think duets?”

    Frater Gregor seems to know his way around the organ console quite well I must say.😳😮👍👍🇨🇦

    I think I now know the one organ in Germany that I want to visit (if I could only choose one, of course!)
    And wow, real eighteenth century Spanish Trumpets! Although Rieger could have done quite well making them from scratch too based on a big Rieger trompette that I have encountered personally.

    Awesome improvisation (I guess it was an improv) at the end. I wonder what was the main theme?

    • @GMPMusicVideos
      @GMPMusicVideos 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The rhythm and tonality of the theme are reminiscent of Widor 6th Symphony, first movement, but the treatment of it all is all his own!

    It's an exciting time for the organ world both here, the USA and in the rest of Europe! Such wonderful projects happening and in the pipeline - I can't wait to see how this project goes! Frater Gregor clearly understands the English organ tradition, so I was wondering then if he's planning a 16' reed on the Schwellwerk for the genuine English 'full swell' effect?

    @Fraser Gartshore, is there any news about this choir division? I checked the website, but I did not see any new stops added in the list?

    Interesting console design for the new console. What are the drawers for? 🤔

  • @SimonLumbymusician

    How does the mobile console operate the stops? The screen I'm presuming?? (I'm fascinated by what might be behind the 3 small doors at the right hand end on the manuals!) Also what was the piece of music Fr Gregor played?? Fantastic!!

    • @williamjeffrey40

      It is connected to the pipes with a fiber optic cable

    • @FraserGartshore
      @FraserGartshore  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nope - it’ll be connected to the organ via a simple network cable. The screen will control all the stops - you can allocate them to any manual you like. Hidden behind the doors?! That shall be the stuff of a future video! One of the drawers is exactly the right size for a bottle of wine… hmm..
