    Unlike last year, this year the songs that were in the mix to pick from were not written for or with Eden. She was not comfortable with the original version, the revamp offered an opportunity for Eden to have a voice in the song and the production. I can speak for myself, and evidently many others, certainly not disappointed with the revamp.

      Neither am I. The updated version is - compared to the one I reacted to - at least 60% better. I am however disappointed that the version I reacted to has been published in the first place.

      @@BENREACTSOfficial Boring!
      I feel that it is good they allow countries to revamp their entries within a reasonable timeline, if they wish to do so. The Eurovision is meant to be engaging and fun, and so far revamps just added more excitement and entertainment. Let's not forget the Eurovision started after world war II to bring us all together. Keeping things "conservative" is depressing and boring. So far, seeing people react and enjoy the different versions has been enjoyable and entertaining. No need to make it a critical criticism and a job, it is not. Let's just enjoy what different countries and cultures have to offer.

    Sometimes it is better not to give a reaction at all. If you do not like being released a revamp song it is something else. But you can not react to an old version of a song that in the end will not be the one to be heard on the Eurovision stage

    The reason the first version is bare bones is that Israel was under lockdown when it was made. At that time Covid was very high as they had the British variant dominating the population.
    Then the level of vaccination went up and Covid went way down very fast. So, as anyone can see, the second version is full of people that have been fully vaccinated.
    The original version of Set Me Free is about being in locked down and being alone and sad.
    The second version is upbeat and tentatively happy. In the opening scene Eden wakes up from lockdown, and as she sings everyone else awakens as well.
    I find this song interesting because when the first version was made no one knew what effect, if any, the vaccines would have on society, so this version is stark and sad. But the second version celebrates the possibility that there is a solution, that just maybe everyone will get their lives back.
    If you consider the above, these two videos should be seen together as a historical document. They are documenting the Pandemic by way of performance.

      @BENREACTSOfficial  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You art talking about the actual music video here, and I agree: less Covid = more people. I haven't mentioned the music video in my reaction though, I'm talking about the song itself. I don't get what urged Israel to publish an unfinished product. It feels like they left Eden out of the decision-making. 🤷‍♂️

    I still don't get it why you reacted to the old version of the song. You could've reacted to the first demo that was released in the national selection, as it was the first original version of the song.
    I absolutely admire the Israeli team for taking into consideration the critical points of the viewers and making adjustments. Every artist do this procedure with new writen songs. Every year, on every eurovision contest there are some entries getting revamped and that's totally fine. There is a deadline to forward the final version of a song to the ebu (I think it was March 27th) and the Israeli team was on spot.
    It's a real shame you decided to react to the former version as it's lost its validity.
    The final version will be performed on stage in about a month and we didn't hear a word of it in this video.
    We all know that the former version is problematic in many ways. You didn't need to remind us how bad it was.
    The revamp changes the entire game and I personally so happy about it.

      @@BENREACTSOfficial Okay that already makes some sense. You may like the song and you may not but at least not completely ignore it.

  • @meir1114
    @meir1114 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    It is not fair to Israel and Eden to follow the permitted laws and then disqualify because the first version came out bad. If the rules would not allow revamp then it makes sense to want to think a negative opinion about a song. But the rules allow a re-enactment of a selected song. Nor is there really a complete change of song, the melody and lyrics remain the same. Say and you saw the new version and still did not like it? this is fine . But to disqualify a version even though it is perfectly legal and permissible, it stems from some hatred and stupidity must be said. So the obvious question is why do erou's reactions? A little dumb. Does not have to do this.

    • @BENREACTSOfficial
      @BENREACTSOfficial  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, there shouldn't have been a 'first version', just a ready version. I highly oppose the lack of EBU rules which allows to change anything after publishing (apart from maybe a few extra vocals during the live shows). The reason for that is, that countries (all of them, not just Israel) will be allowed to adjust their songs according to what other countries have published in the meantime. Don't get me wrong, I agree that the production team manoeuvres within the rules and I don't blame any other country for doing the same. What I am saying though, is that rules should be adjusted and not allow this anymore.

    • @meir1114
      @meir1114 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@BENREACTSOfficial I understand your personal opposition is your opinion but you are still missing the point. If they knew that only one version had to be submitted then everything would change (as in the case of Neta and the Looper) and they would be prepared accordingly. In the case of this song I know they knew the version was not good for reasons of bureaucratic time because the rules had to pick a certain number of songs and there was no time to give orderly versions. And in the second version they let Eden be a partner in the work. So if reality already allows it then you should do a reaction to a song or frame it be fair and hear second versions as well. I'm not saying you must do reactions but you choose to do so and then slander against a song that is known to sound and look much better. Is it much better for your taste? This is already a personal opinion. You choose what to do, it just seems unfair to me.

    what are you taling about??? most countries make major changes / revamps before Eurovision, and it has been going on since the 60's /70s!!! in the last 20 years it has become something of a "must" almost; some countries - like Albenia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and others (including recently Israel, on occasion) have done it. There is nothing wrong with it. This is a contest, you are there to win, or at least look as if you want to win.

    • @BENREACTSOfficial
      @BENREACTSOfficial  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, that's a MAJOR flaw in the Eurovision rules. There was a time, when songs weren't allowed to be published before the actual event. And even though I understand that everything develops, the EBU should prevent any song changes, or actually backing track changes after publishing.

    You are doing a channel that reacts to a Eurovision songs that will be in the contest. Yet you are doing a review to a song that won’t be in the contest because you find it cheeky to do a revamp even though it’s customary to do and Israel isn’t the only one to do so🤦🏻‍♂️ Didn’t know it’s “Bensvision song contest”. Your review is irrelevant.
    So self-righteous.

    • @BENREACTSOfficial
      @BENREACTSOfficial  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My channel is called BEN REACTS! I am currently (!) reacting to Eurovision songs, since I follow Eurovision and I would like to share my opinions.
      Will my opinions sometimes be controversial? Yes.
      Do I care? Nope.
      I have reacted to this video because Israel decided to publish it. I am not a journalist who is sort of obliged to remain neutral. While my review might be irrelevant in the greater sense of things, so is your comment. And calling me self-righteous while in the same breath trying to dictate what I upload or publish on my channel, is rather ironic. 😜

    • @AW-kn9hx
      @AW-kn9hx 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@BENREACTSOfficial you are absolutely right, it's your right to upload whatever you want. But I am not trying to dictate you what to publish nor I did not say your opinion is controversial. I didn't say anything about your opinion about the song itself. What I did say that you can't say you are reacting to Eurovision songs and at the same time react to songs that are not in Eurovision, and give some kind of an infantile excuse. you are saying you share your opinions. what I am saying, and clearly all the people here commenting you, that your opinion is irrelevant. because this is not the song. What don't you get that it is not about staying neutral, nothing to do with it. your comment just proved how self-righteous you are. and you are saying you don't care? from what I can see in your comments you just said you will upload a review for the true song, so it looks like to me, that you do care. Asking at the end of the video what other people think and ask them to write their comments below doesn't fit with the image of “i don’t care” you are trying to make for yourself. and after people do comment , you write back that you don't care? I think you might have a dissociative identity disorder. lol.
