This 12" is one of the greatest pieces of electronic music, period. bought it when it first came out and it still sounds brilliant 30+ years later. Genius.
I remember this came with a flexi-disc where the band sat about discussing what to put on the flexi-disc. Then they had the Gagarin getting a cup of tea story.
Compare this to the Bladerunner End Title theme and it is jawdroppingly similar... but this was released 3 years earlier, at least the first 1 min 20 seconds or so are.
The prescience of this track cannot be understated. You hear this digitally decimated track which only in 2024 is commonplace. In 1979 OMG I cannot imagine what any intelligent listener must have thought.
Believe it or not my Mum bought this record @ a job lot in Newport Shrops in early 1980 also included the Ramones & Sham 69 they were the reason for the purchase not the League... but did not get into them until later with Dare I then realized I owned the Dignity of Labour. I still own these records and since then own many Human League records and "artifacts" including Phil's 89 Range Rover (coincidence) We need anything off of Holiday 80 please. Keep them coming Parkhill62... Brill!
Saw them in August there, and they didn't do this. This is the first time I heard it. It's ok, but it lacks a big drum section and possibly electric guitar to give it body, As it is, its just a novelty thing.

Never heard this song before. Must be VERY rare!
He got out the rocket and had a cup of tea
You remember! With jam and butter in it, no doubt.

@MrSKINFLICK Yeah! Good track mind you!
I didn't know they drank tea in Russia. ;)
They DO drink tea in Russia, but not too strong, and without milk, but with lemon. (That's why it's CALLED Russian tea!)
Good comment.
Hard to believe this is from the 1970's.
I think it’s very 70’s early 80’s avant garde
xcool

+franko smith You miss the very essence of what this EP was about my friend
franko smith some pieces aren't meant to have certain instruments played on them.
