I am fortunate that gambling addictions have not entered my circle of family and friends, but I know that such an addiction is not really about the money at all. The many comments on other videos complaining that footballers are highly paid so why do they need to gamble just miss the point of addiction. He’s making light of the botman situation albeit rightly highlighting how big a miss it is, but it’s not just this seaons run in it’ll effect. It’s next season most of 2024 probably. Also tonali because knowing the FA it’ll be punishment. It affects the transfer window also, plans, pre season the lot of it. Because we can’t buy a bunch of players to replace them and if we can, we won’t because we already have two huge players missing but due back. So it has a knock on effect. In future though and I don’t care who disagrees, let’s not do business with Milan. And not throw money away just cos it’s a big name! That’s what happened! Consequence aren't always enough to stop an addicts tendancy to cause themselves harm. Smokers smoke despite knowing they will probably get cancer. Alcoholics drink despite knowing they will probably get kidney disease. Footballers that are gambling addicts bet knowing they will get banned if caught.

He also said “you can’t force someone to have an operation” going on to say botman made the decision and he knows his body, he felt it was good and strong. What would anyone do in this situation. You have a player telling you everything is find the knee feels really good and one specialist saying it looks like it needs surgery and others saying it might be ok 🤷♂️.

No. Nonsense. The final decision is with the person picking the side. You didn’t have to pick Botman and yet you did, knowing all of the above. Howe cannot manage in the wider sense.
To trust a guy who says "I feel good and I'm ready" and has been the model of consistency since arriving... He admits mistakes, but nobody should be blamed just because we want someone to blame. Full investigation into things at the end of season as we've had such serious issues, but it's no one person at fault for this one.
As Eddie has highlighted, you can't FORCE a player to have surgery. If Sven has been saying that his knee was stronger and felt good through rest then what else can the management team do? You can't pin the lad down and force him under the knife man!!! Sven made an error, he has to pay for the consequence of that, i.e surgery!
Personally I wouldn't blame Howe for what happened, this is really down to Sven not listening to his body!

Sandro's ban was reduced because of his cooperation and willingness to admit he had an issue and to get help with it. If he hasn't continued SINCE the ban was imposed, then it would be extremely harsh to impose further sanctions on him.
