I started smoking weed in 1978 aged 17. Today it's been 365 days since I ditched the weed. No alcohol since 8th Dec 2022. I first got drunk in 1977 aged 16. I,m now 62 and I never imagined that been sober could feel so magical ,I feel like a kid again. Thanks for your video brother.

Congratulations. I too quit all drugs. I almost have a year of not smoking weed. 7.8 years sober from alcohol. I did it to save my mental health. It’s gotten better but I still suffer from depression even before I drank or smoked. It’s not fun right now for me. Maybe because I got laid off and I got rejected by some woman. Idk keep pushing

It’s so nice to see people actually admitting that weed is addictive. I’m almost 3 months free of weed, and I’m so afraid I’m going to go back to it. 😭 It’s extremely hard when your husband has it readily available around the house. Every time I quit in the past, I’d go back to it because my husband would tell me it’s no big deal and to just relax about it. Every time I’d try to quit it was harder than the time before. Praying I’ll never go back again. 🙏

I'm 40 with two kids that I don't want to be stoners. Gotta lead by example, so I quit 2 months ago. I feel better in so many ways already, and all my minor withdrawal symptoms are gone. I started to keep track in my head, and I came to the conclusion that I was only enjoying about 10% of the times I'd smoke. Yet, there I'd be, 3 hours later packing another couple hits. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results. I realized that if I wanted different results that I had to take different actions. You can beat this. I was talking to someone who quit after 20+ years, he was still talking about 'the loud' he strictly smoked and how he smoked more than anyone he ever met, and started before all his friends, ect...
I said "it takes 4 years to really overcome the delusions that weed instills in you." (I quit 8 years ago after 20yrs and I'm still learning what a perspective on life separate from weed's influence is)
He responded "I disagree, it took me 2months!"
    I responded again-
"Saying delusions is not descriptive enough of what I'm talking about. I'm talking about a vast array of other spiritual and emotional things. Right now you got your head cleared but it'll take a couple years for you to start really knowing what was the weed and what was you in retrospect. When you smoke weed for that long and from a young age you become one with the weed. Your speech and mannerisms, your honesty, your greed, your ego, your manner of friendliness, your submission to God, all that and more is just beginning to change. So many aspects of your emotional character do not grow when you're on weed. So many things are held back. So many social things, like being able to be close friends with someone who has never smoked weed or been around it. Plants like to chill, thrive, and cultivate in stillness, we take in and become one with these natures, plants are greedy but also harmonize with its surroundings in strange ways. It really takes a long time to really start to develop and grow with your true nature. This is such an in-depth and spiritual thing I'm barely scratching at the full scope. Like when you talking about loud, you're still expressing emotional and conceptual influence, you haven't had the time to grow in the way you grow when you're sober and differentiate what you were and what you could have been and that takes a lot of thinking. If you start to go towards God and give your life to him you'll continue to realize how far away you were, and then when you look at somebody who's still smoking you'll see how absolutely disconnected they are. Being under the influence is temporary 'being influenced' is long-term. Anyway too much to be said, God bless you bro!"

Daily nighttime user here for three years straight. No smoke, only vaping and recently switched to live resin or live rosin, and I eat healthy munchies. I sleep better and relax at the end of the day. I have a good family, 25 year marriage, and good finances. However, there is a reason I watch these videos. Sometimes the urge to vape on a weekend morning or weekend day really hits me. There is also that urge to get higher and higher which is more difficult due to my tolerance levels. I watch these videos to keep my usage under control, and I thank you for that. Honestly, my worst addiction is TH-cam and Netflix lol. Lot of wasted time just watching stuff. I try gaming again every now and again, but end up too lazy to learn how to play the games and go back to TH-cam and Netflix.

I'm from India and I can relate to everything you have said . I was smoking weed when I was 16 and now I am 31. I started it when I used to play guitars with one of my bands. Creativity it enhances as they say, however it was going all good but things started to change and I felt very low about myself and my studies ended up taking a wrong turn. With no proper future and a career to build I became more and more dependent on weed and it was one of the worst phases of my life. Finally when Covid -19 hit it was time when I decided to give up weed and smoking altogether and it's more than 3 years now I'm clean and sober on weed and more relaxed, calm and going strong. I was able to break out of that foggy life which I had before and looking back I can say it's one of the best decisions of my life. Been smoking , vaping cannabis for 12 years now. I was on anti- depressants on four occasions, since my teens, and I drank alcohol once or twice a week. Long story short, my alcohol usage and anti-depressants hurt me physically and psychologically. I am 40 years old and I have the physical fitness and mental clarity of people half my age. I run, mtb, gym and do motocross racing. I am always busy and motivated. I microdose cannabis daily, after work and before my big meal at dinner time. I don't drink any alcohol, take any anxiety medication or anti- depressants. I almost drank myself to suicide after my father died in a horrific motorcycle accident and my previous wife left me 4 months after that. I believe that cannabis helped me to form new relationships and helped me to live my life more in the moment. I, however, have found that over usage of cannabis can have an opposite effect ,and it can destroy your life if you use it carelessly. Cannabis saved my life and I will use it untill I die.

Cool, no I am aware and careful, thanks. I take tolerance breaks about every 2 months. Like I said, I've been through that already, smoking big bongs and barely feeling anything. Got myself in check and now I know what the golden dosage is. Being a teacher in a very difficult working environment and seeing more than 90% of staff on pharma drugs is frightening. Society will not believe when they know what teachers do to cope these days. Many are alcoholics and "legal" drug addicts. The herb is the best choice if I want to live past 60. Golden rule, if you are under the age of 25 , stay away from any form of thc. It will cause long term brain problems, research backs that. I started at around 29.

My ex was addicted. The stronghold it had on him, you'd think it was a harder drug...but sadly, that narrative is a testament to how society has downplayed the effects of marijuana. It's a very real drug, with real side-effects--it's a depressant...so for those who are already struggling with life's woes, this can cause a downward spiral. People use the weed to escape life's hardships, but the overall impact it has on the mood and the brain it actually ends up being counterproductive.

True but there's other factors too. Often it centers around trauma, with the person locked in a battle of trying to escape their emotions, and feeling self-loathing over the fact that they can't seem to control themselves. I don't use weed except when I want to relax or recover from run training for a 18min 5k at 40 years old,... I'm at 20mins now. Used to run them in the 16's in high school. Weed masks the muscle soreness and allows me to fall asleep without the use of an NSAID. That's what weed works the best for. Use weed like a supplement and you can reap the benefits.
I only drink maybe 7 or 8 beers a week on a heavy week...
When I wanted to get strong in my early 20s I worked out 3 or 4 times a week lifting heavy. It took me almost 7 years to go from 155 to 180 naturally. I'm 5'7 and lifted as much as 345 bench, 455 squat, and 540 deadlift. My profile pic is the first time I deadlift 405. I ended up going into the national guard at 28 years old and needed to run 2 miles and do all the rucking etc so I lost weight on purpose and got down to 165 and running 2 mile in 12:30 right before I went into basic training. Just by watching my calories and running. Humans are born to run and if you don't run in your workout plan, you're missing out. @@Liam-ke2hv my dad has 7 DUIs and was abusive to me and my mother. Used to come home black out drunk like 10 times a month! He blew engines in virtually all of our vehicles because he would over rev them while drunk. For example, he drove his work van in our yard and knocked over our own power/telephone pole and got his van stuck on top of it!!! He used to throw my mom around and I would try to intervene and I would end up getting thrown into walls etc
I wasn't sexually abused in any way whatsoever but I was abused physically and we didn't have food or power or something because my father was extremely unreliable.
I had a ton of trauma, used to cry myself to sleep wondering if he would come home drunk or who was he cheating on my mother or did he wreck his vehicle or something. When he did come home, very often I wished he had not come home. I would sit and listen to him freak out abd destroy the house wondering where my mom was and if he was coming to throw stuff around my side of the house.
I lived in a very small town so it was super fun getting made fun of for his arrests and cheating on my mom.

Tomorrow will be my 4th week weed free after smoking daily (all day except at work…sometimes) for 25 years. I had to admit to myself it’s boring and adds no value to my life anymore. It feels liberating to live life without that itch for weed not to mention all the money I’m saving. Looking forward to turning 4 weeks into 4 months and 4 months into 4 years and that into the rest of my life

It will cause insomnia for a few weeks then sleep issues for a couple months. Give it 3 months and you should be good. Also, look up the science of dopamine and weed addiction. Really interesting stuff that help me quit. I'm struggling with the sleep issues as well but they will get better. Part of what makes it so hard to quit is the tiredness from not being able to sleep well and also depression and other things. Those should resolve in a couple months. Good luck!

29 years old and I started smoking when I was 14. It led me to other illicit substances. Turns out that when bud was illegal, the people who sold it also sold other illicit goods (of course) When I stopped smoking regularly 2 years ago I was amazed how much my anxiety and insomnia were relieved (and let me be clear) it of course was worsened when I first quit. After a month or so though I began to improve far past where I was when I was smoking. It’s sad because most of my friends all smoke and we can hardly even hangout anymore. In fact most people I know my age don’t like when I talk about why I don’t do it. I’m not preachy but when they ask and I tell them you can hear there brains clicking off 😂 They don’t want to hear that my life is better without it.

I started smoking weed very late . I was 23 and against it all my life . Girlfriend at the time got me into it. Smoke weed from 23 to 42 with long breaks in between ranging from 3 months to a year. Always got back into it. Friends were doing it and it made activities that much more enjoyable. Passing it around the campfire with buddies, watching a movie , concert , golfing , etc . And although I made some mistakes a long the way I can say my life has been successful. Loving wife , kids , career , investments, good friends , health, and above all GOD. But in my late 30’s , I’d say at 38 it stopped working . Got me down , tired so i tried to quit .. without any success. In 2019 I almost managed to do it , was weed free until COVID plandemic hit. Then it was full force into it again. Smoking daily 3 times a day for a year before I was finally able to quit for good. Weed free now since 2021 and it’s gonna be 3 years now I haven’t touched it. The smell now bothers me for some reason. I believe praying helped me. Good luck and God bless!

I just turned 33 and I look back on the past 15 years of smoking. It’s sad when I think about the path of life I took just so I could partake. It really isn’t worth it. I believe that’s why so many entertainers and musicians push it to the masses. A society that is drugged up and dumbed down is much easier to control. Specifically the youth who have no idea how they are messing up their reward system and delaying their development. I appreciate your thoughts and plan on doing my own videos sharing my personal experiences. Stay strong brother 💪

Music and movies sell sex, sexual behavior and sexual motives.

I think it's all about making a real decision for yourself. I started late but was a hopeless case, chain smoking life and opportunities away. Life goes by in time lapse & suddenly you have less time in front of you than you have lived. Quitting is like turning off the time lapse. I focused on the positive effects on my body, no more coughing, clarity of mind etc., After 1,5 years not even considering it I decided to partake, as a treat so to speak. This was just a few days ago actually. I enjoyed the effect as my tolerance was rock bottom, but by the end of the little bag I could feel that the tolerance was growing already. My mind is more rational now & can leave it behind me, because I know where it leads. I also know people who think and say they have it under control but that's just the weed talking. Be strong & celebrate yourself, you've already made it.✊

Anyone reading this thinking of quitting…something that helps me is don’t say you’re quitting anything. Quitting sounds like failing or giving up. Who wants that?
Instead, think of it as you are choosing to not smoke. You are choosing energy, motivation, health, good relationships and happiness. I don’t remember who said that, but it really helps keep me on track (at least so far) and hopefully will help someone else. Much love to you all 🩷

I turned to weed more and more over the past couple years. Didn’t ever try it until I was 25. Only did it once every couple months at first to meditate deeper. Eventually I lost my respect for cannabis and I started to rely on it more for comfort. Ironically I just kept getting more hostile and lonely and depressed so I smoke more 😂. I realized what was happening so I just quit cannabis and coffee for the next 30 days. 3 days in and I feel SO MUCH BETTER. It’s definitely an addiction but I know I can kick it. I’ve suffered from alcoholism, prescription opioid addiction, and even anti-anxiety medication addiction. Anything can be abused. Television, food, sex, video games, you name it. Doesn’t mean it’s addictive in the same sense as opioids or nicotine. I’ve never suffered from DTs with bud. I respect everyone’s choices in their disciplines, but I think weed is being used as a scapegoat for other personal issues (that require medication or therapy) in this comment section. It was fun when things were super chill, relaxing, funny, and good switch off time after a long day. I’m not in the game for degrading self analysis and unpleasant prophecies of the future, I’m not in the game for guilt and paranoia. It should be about treating yourself, if it’s not then find something else like heroin..(I’m joking). The thing is, you should be on an upward trajectory in life, financially, your network, your contacts, etc. anything that detracts from that is just a voluntary waste of talent. If you are a Seth Rogan type, or a dispensary owner..more power to you. If not, stay in your lane.

Smoked weed since I was 15; 75 now. I’m amazed I didn’t destroy my lungs. Have been weed and alcohol free for 9 months and have never felt better. No way I’m going back to that trap!

I hear you man. It feels like something is missing. Mostly memories are pale and insipid but other times I briefly get the sense and feel and intimations of a more vivid experience of life from when I was younger. And the same applies to music. It feels like something is locked behind a glass wall. But I'm not even sure if I can blame weed for that. Something is missing from the music. It sounds bland when once it sounded sacred. I can't feel the richness now and the memories can't reach it but I know there are heights far beyond this current experience. There is beauty beyond all words somewhere. I want to readjust my estimation of the world but god doesn't seem to be playing fair. Whatever that means.

It's not the weed,,if your mind isn't strong enough to get past that feeling then weed isn't for you I'm 50yrs old been smoking my whole adult life. I've never had that problem don't smoke before you have to do something. Don't wake and bake it sets the president for the day. Strengthen your mind, don't blame weed

I quit for 8 months after about 3 years of medical usage. I faced severe depression like I never had before. My wife said it was interesting that the only time she had seen me couch locked was when I stopped usage. I think for some it’s a medical herb, but I think this guys is speaking to something that is real for many. I also don’t take rips from bongs though or combust to where it turns to ashes. I only vaporize small amounts of the herb throughout the day. I am not sure if this would make much difference for people. Thanks for sharing your experience 🙏

Im glad it makes your depression feel better. I know this is unsolicited advice but a high carb diet will really reduce anxiety and depression your brain just isnt getting the proper nutrition there are many studies that show links between food and depression. So high fat diet and lots of meat everyday is going to make anyone feel depressed. Carbohydrates help release seritonine in the brain ( makes you feel happy and less axcious) worked for me!!!! I dont do anymore then 30 grams of fat per day im a very lean person not much fat to me but my mind feels amazing and thats what matters not how i look also my sleep is BOMB can fall asleep easily and stay asleep which really helps with moods too.

Thank you for standing up against weed smoking. I smoked for over 20 years, believed the BS and was in denial about my addiction. I quit 10 months ago and never felt better. Now that I don't smoke I can see how detrimental it was to me. God told me to quit, throw it all out and dedicate my life to him. Weed IS the devil's lettuce, he uses it to imprison you. Keep up the brave work you're doing.

Hey Bill! I watched this whole video to the end and I loved everything you said. I'm 21 and smoked every day from 14-19. I feel blessed to have hopped off that train early. It was such a beautiful best friend to me for so long and like many others it stopped being that and started being my worst enemy. I am thankful that eventually I couldn't smoke it without intense anxiety setting in. Although I desperately wanted it to continue soothing me, it no longer served me at all. I reluctantly forced myself away from it and now that I am two years out of that fog, my life has never been in such a good place - though I am still working every day on my self esteem and anxious thinking still gets the better of me sometimes. I really love your content and I think you deliver it in a way that is really relatable to the stoner. That life sucks, society needs to stop normalising being a lazy burnout pothead and pretending like there is nothing seriously wrong with it. A lot of stoners will continue to be in denial when they hear content like yours - the whole mission of a stoner is to defend and justify being one. But you are doing gods work for the people who are ready to grow up and make a change in their lives. god bless!

Great video, to say "it stopped serving me" while at the same time it's a nice place (you keep telling yourself) is a mountain to traverse and should be the constant reminder of why you quit it.
