    I tried this method and the paper towel quickly turned moldy and killed my seeds. Just recently I tried planting them directly into soil in one of those egg carton type planters and put it in a Ziploc bag. In just a couple of weeks I had lilies sprouting. I'm not sure when I should plant them outside though. They are about an inch to two inches tall now

      Everytime I try the paper towels method I find the same result - MOLD. Even when using fungicides. I'll try the egg carton method with some peetmoss. Good comment!

    Thank you for the informative video, Donna Emery! I followed your directions and harvested some ripe seeds from a Striped Barbados lily I was given, putting them in a wet paper towel and plastic bag for the past four months in my basement. Last week I was thrilled to see that most had germinated so I potted them up in a plug tray, water them and put the whole try in another loose plastic bag. I put them in a spot that gets a bit of sun in my garage for the winter (instead of a refrigerator that would have a steady temperature). My question is how cold can they get and still survive in the New York mountains were it can (but rarely) drop to zero degrees? Thanks again from a beginner gardener!

    Do you water the bulblet/sprout once you put it in soil-less potting mix? or do you put it in there without any moisture? Can I do this in a plastic shoebox with a lid to overwinter in my garage?

      The plant will stop flowering all the petals will fall off. By september usally is when they have these large bulbs where the flower use to be they start off green by the time there completly brown they will start to open and then you can just take them off and open them to get those seeds she shows i have dozens of these seeds but never knew how to grow them tell this video showed up. It was annoying because every video was starting from bulbs and evem then they where normal lilies

    • @prophetmadonna3744
      @prophetmadonna3744 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Abhishek Goel Two years, whoa thats too long. But the bulbs also multiply? i see lilies seem to multiply fast.

    • @iamaloner
      @iamaloner 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@prophetmadonna3744 one bulb will multiply enough to split into 2 in about 2 years. One plant can easily give you 20 plants from seeds in 2 years.

    • @prophetmadonna3744
      @prophetmadonna3744 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Abhishek Goel so 2 years 1 bulb???? That explains why my Peace Lily which i planted on ground only became 2 pieces in 1. I once saw a plot of peace lilies and assumed they are spread like fire. My peace lily bloomed recently and I notice as the flowers wither, Flies or tiny insects live on the flower. Now they look like SEEDS. i therefore conclude that those plot of lilies i saw in some rural village came from Seeds. 2 years is not a very long time. i want plots of Lilies!

    I thought lilly seeds are the black bean shaped seeds which appear between the leaf and the stem in late July early August. If they aren't seeds, then what are they?

    • @DSDaly
      @DSDaly 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      After the flower petals fall off, a seed grows with hundreds of seeds inside. what you're describing sounds like the anther, maybe.
