AI has more tanks at single beach than Germans had in whole Normandy in 1944...
you noticed that humm? lol almost the whole armored assets the germans had in that area were Marder Tds not tanks.

@@MrAgent47. germans had one panzer division in the area, I think it was 21st and it was quite understrength, deemed not fit to serve on the eastern front... so at best 2 battalions of panzers, probably none of them panthers or jagdpanthers - panzer 4s probably or even maybe panzer 3s. Other units were rushed in from outside area, but with constant air attacks and resistance sabotaging railways and bridges it took them too long and allies managed to consolidate beacheads by then.

@@QuickyBabyTV honestly, that is why I mostly watch people play multiplayer games. Games with stories are just too hard for someone to play, listen to the story, AND talk all at the same time. Lots of not understanding the story, because they were busy talking and that just makes me frustrated. It is mostly a "me" problem.

Standard real world military tactic: When pinned down, call arty... Works every time.
Especially against tough nuts to crack like Jagdpanthers or Panthers.
It really is a good little PvE game. It felt like being some kid playing Medal of Honor Allied Assault
Reminds me of fun little game from 2006. called Panzer Elite Action. It was pretty good.

Tips from a guy who struggled with this mission:
1. Drive to the very left side of the beach in the beginning, the dune in front of you is much higher and gives you great cover. Behind this dune, you can easily outmaneuver the artillery strikes.
2. Shooting the bunkers on the beach initiates the battle ship's fire, you don't have to grind through their hp by yourself (You don't even have to hit their weak spots).
3. Try to play as carefully as possible in the beginning, because you will need all of your hp and respawns for the harder enemies in the end.
4. Use your artillery strikes (the smoke markers) as clever as you can. If possible, mark an area where multiple targets can be destroyed at once.
5. Try to peak as little a possible when you come to the harder enemies at the end. Try to outmaneuver them and drive up to the ridgelines of the hills to get the maximum range for the artillery marker.
6. TIME YOUR ARTILLERY STRIKES! The impact of the strikes takes longer than you might expect, so calculate that in. Place the marker way ahead of your targets, expecially the faster ones.
7. Last but not least: Don't give up. I tried like 5 times and even killed all enemies, but got killed myself in the end, so even though I technically completed the mission, it didn't count because I died myself. If you failed the mission, try again. And again. It becomes easier every time.
I didn't have any problems with the first 4/5 of the mission, but the end..... the fucking part at the end...

I did exactly as you did above before coming to the video and was about to type up my tips - worked a treat for me but I did what QB did and managed to get 3 panthers with one bombardment. I was lucky to get it he was!
As for the Spitfire pilot he says "ey" a lot, clearly a Canadian so absolutely could be a Spitfire pilot

The fun thing is there was an actual case of an immobilized Sherman helping a DD know where to shoot
There was a Sherman stuck on the waterline and the commander of the USS Saterlee ordered his crew to fire on everything the Sherman was firing at - it was crucial for getting off Omaha
Will have to look into this. I've read lots of WWII history and enjoy it for lack of a better word.

Americans did fly Spitfires early in the war, initially as Volunteers before the US entered the war, and later the USAAF flew Spits before the the P-47 reached Britain in numbers. I doubt any American squadrons still flew Spitfires by D-Day, given that the USAAF was fielding the Mustang by then.
The US Navy flew Spitfires on D-Day for naval gunfire spotting. VCS-7 flew them.
Yes, some Americans wanted to participate in the war early on, before the US got involved. They would sign up with the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF), travel up to Canada, receive training either in Canada (or England when they arrived), and would be shipped out. However, in order to do this... they had to give up their American citizenship, and were given Canadian citizenship instead. These squadrons of American volunteers were called Eagle Squadrons. One of my friends back when I was a kid was an old P-51 Mustang Ace of the 4th Fighter Group, Lt. Frank Speer. When I was in my early teens, he used to tell me stories of some of his buddies going up to be part of the Eagle Squadrons. Have a lot of his wartime stuff that was given to me, because his own family didn't want it after he passed.

It's true that Americans flew Spitfires on D-Day, but the pilot in this mini-game is actually Canadian, as you can tell from his accent, eh? My dad was also at D-Day but flying Beaufighters with Coastal Command, taking out German naval assets.
I think the "eh" is a clue.
The spitfire is a Canadian. The RCAF (Royal Canadian Air Force) would have been supplied by Royal British Air Force planes. Also, notice how the pilot says “eh” at the end.
Whoever decided to give your allies limited amount of lives clearly intended for this even to be not fun at all
I love that WG did something historical finally. and its pretty cool and fun. Tho I am struggling with the rigorous difficulty cus the friendly AI is so bad it keeps yoloing into a 7 panther crossfire at the end and die before I can kill em all lol.
They did do a historical mode before where it was a bunch of allied low tiers (like t-34 and M4 sherman) vs small amount of high tier german tanks (tiger, ferdi, tiger ii, jpanther i think). Got mixed reviews but was alright.

The Eagle Squadrons, RAF 71, RAF 121 and RAF 133, were US pilots who volunteered to fly fir RAF in 1940. 71 squadron was operational in Battle of Britain. Originally had Hurricames then upgraded to Spitfires. When they eventually transferred to USAAF in 1942 they took their Spitfires with them, which is why you can find pics of Spits online with the Star & Bar insignia . They were not involved in Overlord though.
It's quite a fun and challenging mode but it is annoying that sometimes you'll lose a chunk of xp before you could leave the open field and your own bots are giga lemmings.
The first bit is rough if you die. As soon as you spawn in you just get farmed...
Rigorous feels like rng game. Those panthers rip through you, and your allies, and aiming the bombards at them seems impossible.
Yeah I got to the last two tanks and the Panthers ripped through the allies and the mission failed

@@xxstephxx1005 I finally cleared it after about 10 tries - key is to keep close to the french heavy tank and hid behind the earth wall near it - pathers will ride to him and stop - then rain fire and pray that they wont move and the heavy will manage to survive long enough....
Place multiple bombards in a row so that the panthers wont be able to escape
I was at uni with a guy in the 80's who's middle name was Rodney. His father was pinned down by a bunker on the on D-day beach and they radioed for support, HMS Rodney duly obliged and deleted the bunker for them
Canadians absolutely flew Spitfires on D-Day. The "snowstorm"..."eh" was a (cliché) giveaway.
I watched the longest day movie about D-Day today for the first time since I was a child. It hits different as an adult. I can't imagine what it must have been like to be a part of that. Terrible and frightening I'm sure but maybe proud as well

The opening with you having to shoot the bunkers to range find for the Frankford is actually historically accurate. According to Owen F. Keeler who was a gunnery officer on the frankford. The ship went as close as possible to the shore. Went broadside and used a tank in the beach that was firing at the bunkers as a way to range find for the ships 5’’ guns.

The US military was familiar with the Spitfire's capabilities before the war, as a production Mark I was shipped to the US in 1939.
Before the US entered the war there were American pilots flying Spitfires with the RAF and RCAF.
They also flew them on missions and loved them.

During the war, American pilots did indeed volunteer to pilot for Britain, especially before America officially entered the war. So, an American piloting a Spitfire, even during D-Day, is very possible.
In fact, one could argue that due to America unofficially helping Britain and other Allies before Pearl Harbor is why Britain eventually lent America the HMS Victorious after America's carrier presence in the Pacific fell to just the USS Saratoga in late 1942, while the USS Enterprise was (once again), undergoing significant repairs. The newest Air Craft Carriers were still under construction and not expected to be helpful until late 1943.
Also, fun fact, while the Victorious was serving under the US Navy on loan, she was given the call sign "Robin".
The end section with the panthers is extremely fustrating. Not managed to complete it on rigurous difficulty.

Had to replay it about 5 times before I completed it. Pretty much all my losses were because the AI tanks decided to drive into the middle of the field and die to the 5 panthers one by one.

I loved this PVE mode.
i would really like more of this, but there are some serious tweaks required - for example like i mentioned earlier: ally bots should try to keep frontal armour towards enemy and it should be possible to "communicate" via commands like halt, fall back or advance.
victory condition should not be connected to the survival of the bots, that you have no control over.
I did the same tactics as you did, but in my case the allies died 1 by 1 far before i had a chance to bomard the panthers in at least 5 attempts.
The next 2 attempt i won just as easily as you did.
AND there should be some small ressources for players who would like to play the pve mission repeatedly. I understand that you shouldt give out lots of battlepass points or bonds for every repeat play, but some small amount of credits and battlepass points is not too much too ask for the players time.

There's a different rigorous mode for players and CCs, I can't finish the mission, bots are not dumb, are very accurate, you cannot do that bombardment moving up the hill like you did on the bunker and in the end the Panthers doesn't stay in the same spot like idiots so one can call artillery on them.
Fire directors on the ships did observe where the tanks were firing at - this is true to what actually happened on D-Day.

Managed to complete Rigorous just now, with me getting destroyed only once, though I was a one shot kill on my second life, and I only barely managed to keep that life by circle strafing a Panther.
Fun fact: on Utah beach they actually landed on the wrong beach and the oldest man that landed with them who was Teddy Roosevelt Jr. instead convinced everyone they landed on a better spot and said “We will start the war from right here.” He then commanded his men while walking with his cane and waving his pistol around like the true badass he was and ended being the first beach to be taken by the allies. Teddy Roosevelt Jr. was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions that day.

Had to do the hard mode 4 times, first i got destroyed by the beach, and the other tries i was too slow and careful that my teammates died. 3rd try the panthers rushed me, they did not stand as they were in your case. It was really hard
This reminds me of the tank levels of the old CoD games. It is fun, I would love if WG would do more of these
I think it would be cool if Wargaming made a long version of this for new players to learn on. Like a longer version of the Stories mode that teaches game mechanics and gives players a chance to learn the game. It could have different stages, the one that is already made, this one, a berlin one and a few others, all slowly getting harder. I feel that would have helped me get better if that had been there for me when I started the game.
I guess the next stage will be fighting further inland in countryside & towns. Hopefully reasonably historically accurate locations.

I really like this event. This event actually fun to play with if they managed to made more story like this and add more fitures like using a different tanks or something else even compared to pvp event.

Rigorous took me 3 or 4 tries! The bots never grouped together for me like that. You can also lose if all of your allies die at once haha

Omaha Beach was sorely lacking in armor support on June 6, 1944 Amphibious tanks
These vehicles were never tested in high seas, and those that were launched sank quickly. Tanks that made it to shore were also quickly destroyed.
So technically that Sherman crab would’ve never been on Omaha beach.
Paris map has a lot of potential 🔥

Great video, as usual, QB! One correction though. That Spitfire pilot wasn't American, he was a Canadian pilot, as any Canadian could tell from his accent, eh? Canadians did fly mainly British aircraft in the war, including Spitfires and Hurricanes. My dad fought at D-Day, but flew a Beaufighter with Coastal Command. His role was to take out a German naval fleet that was coming south to attack the D-Day convoy, which they accomplished after a few days of running fighting. I'm also enjoying this Overlord Battle Pass. Love to see more of these cleverly done PvE games within WoT, rather than the more fanciful ones that have no historical context. I mean, it ain't Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but still ....

One thing in this mode makes me very uncomfortable. When u are at the beach, take a look back at the sea. u can tell some of the warships providing fire support are actually JAPANESE TAKAO class heavy cruisers, by their unique bridge design and turret layout. I mean, in a mode to commemorate history and honor the great sacrifice of ally soldiers, it is better rather putting nothing there than carelessly using some axis warship models. The developer who put them there clearly showed no respect of history. How hard is it to use some correct warship models?
I am not one for mini games usually, but that looked not too bad.

I would play this every once in a while. If I’m already going to play casually for 15-30 minutes this is not an inconvenience at all.
It's definitely interesting how we went from dune and ninja turles to now something a lot more real and historic with d-day. I feel like WG is maybe trying to directly compare the two and how the engagement and sales for the improved battle pass etc. compare? Although it isn't exactly a 1:1 comparison since this battle pass is structured quite differently and I doubt we will forever get free premium tanks now. If I had to guess WG might switch the final rewards around and give out bounty equipment for free while premium tanks will come with the paid pass.
Maybe these PVE modes will save Wargamming. I typically like them more than the 15-0 simulator the mm has become.
Hard one took me 4 tries, didnt think you had to save that much hp and on third attempt panthers got me
The Overlord Map should have been like this from the start. Far more realistic and interesting than the boring map we have now.
I am enjoying this new game mode. It would be nice if you could play it more than once a week.
Has anyone done the DDay event on rigorous difficulty "complete under 15 minutes" mission ? Its dam hard to do it ... WG gone crazy ???

This is definitely better than the console version. Generally, it seems like the pc version of WOT is better but as a console gamer we rarely seem to get the same quality of events. Great video.
Its pretty good. But at least make it all PVP permanen with more stories about tanks in ww2. There is a lot of story they can made in ww2 story in tanks normandy, kursk, el Alamein, sicily, berlin, Stalingrad ke even asian front like manchuria or saipan. Fixing ai and bug inside the game also

Those panters are hard to cope with, they are always avoiding my artillery
He QB console WOT has done what u were worried about here 22:35 U have to get 250 points for all rewards it's like 20 points a match average unless u cap all bases .... it makes u play like 3-5 games a day with the mode being around for only 6 days.
The final push of the enemies feels really cheap. Your allies just yolo into panthers and the arty has so low range from you that you basically cant play smart against them...
I think it's fun enough, a distraction from the PvP randomness of randoms. Nice having 2 difficulties too. I ran through on easy to get the gist and then went back in on hard for the challenge and greater rewards. Bring on next week!
