Regarding the first story, don't swim/skinny dip in an unknown area. You have no idea if that water contains brain eating amoebas or not. second, that water could have been held as sacred and that guy might have been a local, who got pissed off that the land was defiled.
This is why thinking is important.
Brain eating amoebas can only access the brain through the nose, but all your other reasons I completely agree with
Don't dip you head under if you are afraid of brain eating ameboe. Its funny how much fun people miss out on because of irrational fears.
I've had many of my top 100 funniest nights in natural hot springs. For a couple years we would go at least 2 times per week.

That Italy story seemed like it was based on the Latin American folklore of La Llorona, a female ghost who is seen wearing a white dress and is loudly crying and mourning the death of her drowned children

I used to watch this channel religiously in 2015-2017 and I want to say that it saved my life a few days ago!! I was walking to the train station from a doctor’s appointment and realized that I was being followed. As soon as I picked up on this, I stayed calm (didn’t outwardly show any signs of being suspicious), took a route through the local flea market and found a security guard there. I told him what was going on and he confronted the guy who was following me, and turns out he had a kitchen knife and was on drugs. The cops were called and the security guy walked with me to the station. If I didn’t listen to so many “scary walking home at night” stories, I probably wouldn’t have known what to do. Thank you, Mr. Nightmare!

I really liked the first story. I was once in that area and was staying at an artist workshop. We would make bamboo sculptures. One afternoon I went looking for a small dog the workshop had kind of adopted and I ran across two people in a pool. It was in the woods and on public land. They yelled at me and when I said I was looking for my dog they yelled that I should get the hell out. Later that same evening I was in the bamboo cutting down stalks for a project and was accosted by the same couple. I asked them if they were lost and they screamed and ran off. Maybe they are ghosts. I don't know. Anyway...take care of yourselves.

Another plot twist: he had a hacksaw because he used it to cut through the bamboo to get back to the trail, and then he went back to find the couple to make sure they knew how to get back as well
The nice thing about this channels is that rarely to never does it occur that someone dies, so I feel better watching all of these stories

Don’t go out alone
If you do go out alone, make sure to tell someone where you are/share your location
Keep a mental note of where you leave stuff and whether you leave doors open or closed
Never go off the trail
Don’t tell people that you’re home alone
Double check what information you may be giving away in a post on social media
Keep all doors and windows locked at night or when home alone
Lock your phone/Have a password on your phone
If you suspect someone is in your house hide and don’t be afraid to call the police
Do background checks if you’re staying at an air b&b
Don’t go in alleyways
Learn basic phrases in the native language of a place you’re going to on holiday
Don’t get in ubers or taxis, call a parent, friend or partner instead
Don’t immediately discredit your children, they might have heard/seen something you didn’t
Don’t always chalk bumps in the night up to your imagination or the house settling
Don’t lose your phone
Double check sketchy information
Don’t trust strangers, even if they seem nice and genuine.

I was born and raised in Hawaii, and I had to pause the first story halfway through and just mentally prepare myself for the second half. If you’re from Oahu like I am it may have reminded you of the old legend about pork and the nuuanu pali. It reminded me of that since I remember my kumu telling us the original story where the pork was actually dog (it believe was changed to pork later because of missionary attachment to dogs). Don’t take my word for it though since this is all a vague memory. This may not be my story to retell because even though I was born and raised here, I am not a native.

I’ve studied multiple Romance languages so when he said fantasma I immediately knew what it was. Even for English speakers in general it should be easy, because think of phantom, you think of shadows, maybe ghosts. But yeah that story was real scary

He labels them as true, but probably because the redditor who posted it said it was true. There's no way of knowing, I'd bet a large portion are not, especially the paranormal ones. Either that or they're greatly exaggerated to make the story better. People also can hear a noise like a mouse scratching in the ceiling and convince themselves it's a ghost instead of a mouse. So "true" in this sense is a loose term. Although all the non-paranormal ones are realistic scenarios that could have happened.

Guy in the first story is an idiot. He really thought keeping themselves hidden would be smart, which at first wasn't a bad idea. Then he called out to the guy, which revealed their presence. Both of them would've been butchered by the guy with the hacksaw because of the guy's stupidity.
It’s easy to criticise people when you aren’t in their situations, for most people fear overtakes your common sense since it’s such an intense situation and so many impulses at once make it harder to properly calculate the situation. Don’t judge when you aren’t in their shoes.

I don't really get why people keep making it out as if the guy with the hacksaw was some huge threat. He obviously had bad intentions but he was an old man and a hacksaw is not a weapon, I'd argue carrying it puts you at a disadvantage compared to just your fists. What's he gonna do? Slowly saw them to death? He was an idiot because he didn't just attack the man

Bro could've had a shotgun and the guy would've got blown away because he decided to keep himself hidden instead of act and run from the danger that was in front of him. story 2 reminds of "La Llorona" which is a Mexican folktale which basically has a woman looking for parts of her children, and she looks for them at night while crying
La Llorona isn't near you if you can hear her crying close to you. At least that's what my Mexican friends told me lol. You don't want her crying to sound far away because that means she's close to you xD
