The bountyhunters in this episode you have seen before throughout the show. Embo (hathrower) and Sugi (Female Zabrak) helped the Jedi on Felucia during the seven samurai episode, in season two. Sugi also was flying the ship that rescued Asoka, Chewbacca, and then a Jedi that were being hunted by Trandoshans. Latts Razzi (vine dancer) was part of Boba Fett’s crew for the train job that Ventress took to become a bounty Hunter herself.

Bo Katan was smirking back at her boss after Maul choked her out because their plan worked. They learned from their dealings with Dooku that Sith should be trusted only as far as you can throw them, so used the Sith's current situation to their advantage. Bo Katan purposefully voiced doubt to make maul display his strength and make a show of dominance, to establish a false sense of security in him. While the mandos wanna just mobilize and take Mandalore now, they do see the genius in Maul's plan, and are impatiently waiting for it to come to fruition first.
Also, I loved this strategic side of maul. He tried luring Kenobi to get him alone, and that didn't turn out well. Now he wants to build a powerful criminal underworld, gaining vast resources and manpower, so that he can outlast the clone wars and destroy Kenobi with overwhelming force.

And this why I believe Clone wars did Maul justice. Dude is tough but he's one hell of a strategist. His voice is very intimidating also, he reminds me of Deathstroke/Slade from Teen Titans.

The intro scene with Maul and Savage frozen and Death Watch cutting in, always felt to me like a nod to the opening sequence in James Cameron's 1986 film: Aliens.
People tend to forget with her recent appearances in the Mandalorian that Bo-Katan began her character arc as a second-in-command villain in a terrorist group.

@brucechmiel7964 He's a Sirh Lord raised by Sidious, which is why he was so powerful at 22 years old in ep 1 and was able to build an empire and manipulate, he learned from his only father figure. Ventress was only an assassin, no where near the same amount of training.

Maul before the events of episode 1 spent time in the underworld where criminals and pirates dwelled. So him being a crime lord makes sense, especially since he was supposed to be the main villain in George Lucas's sequel films had he continued. *Sith Lord.

What a start to the next arc, huh? One of the darker arcs in the series, it's also one of the best and just more proof that they really elevated Maul to another level. There's quite a few fun facts for today's episode, so I'll go ahead and get started on that.
First off, the Black Sun is one of the most famous crime syndicates in Star Wars, first appearing in the Legends multimedia project Shadows of the Empire released in 1996. The project takes place in between Episodes 5 and 6 and consisted of several products including a novel, a comic series, and a video game. In Legends, Black Sun was led by Xizor, a Prince of House Sizhran of the planet Falleen which is also the name of his species. While Xizor has been mentioned to still have ruled Black Sun in canon, we know almost nothing else about him. The Black Sun council Maul meets with are also members of the Falleen species. An extra fun fact about that scene in particular is that it was edited when it aired on Cartoon Network, not showing the part where the headless bodies fell to the floor. The next syndicate Maul and Death Watch visit is the Pyke Syndicate made up entirely of members of the Pyke species native to the planet Oba Diah. to quote Wookieepedia: "The species was distinguished by their unsettlingly large heads and undersized faces." They specialized in smuggling spice, a general name for a type of illicit substance or substances mainly mined by slaves on the planet Kessel. While it can be refined into things like medicine, many use it in making powerful narcotics. Moving on to the Hutt Council, they are the heads of the Hutt families that run the Hutt Cartel. The members that appear in this episode are: Jabba Desilijic Tiure better known simply as Jabba the Hutt, Oruba who was unable to escape and was killed by Savage, Gorga Desilijic Aarrpo (the one who is in Jabba's palace with him. He is actually Jabba's nephew, which is why we know his full name), Arok (the one with the device in his mouth that looks like a cigar. His appearance and voice are based on the well known gangster actor Edward G. Robinson), and finally Marlo (His appearance is based on the character Don Vito Corleone in The Godfather played by Marlon Brando). The droid translator in Jabba's palace is an unidentified GL vendor droid that seems to have replaced TC-70, the droid who was Jabba's interpreter in previous episodes, as well as the Clone Wars movie.
The scene with the Hutt council also features several returning bounty hunters. This includes Sugi and Embo, both of whom are introduced in the season 2 episode "Bounty Hunters". Embo also appears with his pet anooba, Marrok (an extra fun bit about Embo is that he's voiced by Clone Wars producer and showrunner, Dave Filoni). We also see Derrown, the Parwan who was introduced in the season 4 episode "The Box". Lastly, we see Latts Razzi and Dengar, both of whom showed up in the season 4 episode "Bounty". While the episode was Razzi's Star Wars debut, Dengar's first appearance was actually all the way back in The Empire Strikes Back in 1980. He was one of the bounty hunters Darth Vader was hiring to find the Millennium Falcon. Other returning characters include Pre Vizsla, the leader of Death Watch, and Bo-Katan, his second in command. I believe I said this in another episode, but Vizsla is voiced by Jon Favreau, the executive producer of The Mandalorian series as well as one of its writers. Favreau also provides the voice of a character in The Mandalorian named Paz Vizsla, a heavily armed and armored Mandalorian belonging to House Vizsla and possibly a descendant of Pre Vizsla himself.
Well, that covers everything I can think of for this episode. See you guys next week for the next episodes of the arc! Hopefully next episode is a little less packed with little cameos and easter eggs.😁

This is only Pre Vizsla’s third outing But because they watched the live action stuff first they figured Bo Katan’s role is much bigger than it actually was.
