      Hey you guys, your non pick up on what the Byrds were doing in the last song caused the most spirited debate I've ever seen in this comments section. You should jump into the debate and react to India by John Coltrane and see if you think the Byrds were on the mark. But for Coltrane you need to brace yourselves!!

      The vocals on this tune are amazingly intricate to the overall tune ... dem high notes bruh ... and the fucking lyrics; "I know I must remain inside this silent well of sorrow" ... THIS is S-tier.

      Sweet Lucy was a dancer but none of us would chance her because she was a Samurai ..... she made electric shadows beyond our fingertips and none of us could reach that hi -igh
      She came on like a teaser I had to touch and please her, enjoy a little paradise
      The lock was in my pocket when Lucy met the rocket, she never knew the reason why-ayye
      I can't deny it, with that smile on her face.....
      The whole album is great, a later classic

    “Still of the Night” by Whitesnake! Former Deep Purple singer David Coverdale sings his @$$ off and guitarist John Sykes plays one of the filthiest riffs in rock history. Not to mention the drumming sounds like a B-1 Bomber carpet bombing an unfortunate target.

    As teen rock and metal fans in the mid 80s, we'd been conditioned to think of keyboards as a wimpy addition to the music intended to broaden the commercial appeal. This comeback track from Deep Purple prompted a reevaluation of that perspective for many a young fan.

    • @Daniel-415-Ponce
      @Daniel-415-Ponce 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unlike the synthesizers that were sometimes used to provide audio accents or smooth out 80's hard rock recordings for broader commercial appeal, Jon Lord's heavy crunchy organ sound was always an integral part of classic Deep Purple's musical style.

    My first concert. Awesome ! Feb.1985, i just turned 18. Listened to the Made in Japan live album a bunch leading up to concert. This song and Knocking on Your Backdoor were the songs the radio played. Jon Lord rocking his stand up piano/keyboard was bad ass at the concert. I remember being blown away by the professionalism in the sound and after the first 3 or 4 songs they played I could have left happy and fulfilled. A great rock band !

However they could go with That’s Entertainment, Going Underground, The Eton Rifles, Down In The Tube Station At Midnight or Beat Surrender and not be disappointed. And then it opens them up to Paul Weller’s solo stuff... The Changingman, Out of the Sinking, Broken Stones, Come On/Lets Go. So many top tunes.

    Loved the review. The early classic lineup, yes Jon Lord on keys, Ian Paice, Roger Glover, Ritchie and Ian. Didn’t catch the Kashmir influence previously, interesting take. This was a breath of fresh air when it came out, it was like the old 70s guys all screaming at once - “Hey we are not dead yet!!”. Knockin’ at Your Back Door is a better song from the same album. Give that one a listen!

    I saw these guys on this tour for my very first concert. I think it was in 83 or 84. I was in high school. It was so loud, and I went with a girl who was way out of my league, and it was a real ego boost. We had a great time! They played all of their classics, and my favorite song of that night was Space Trucking. John Lord had that organ rocking to and fro, I thought for sure it would tip over, but it never did. One of my all time favorite shows, and I've seen hundreds of live shows since then on more than one continent.
