You should always allow a succulent in it's new soil for one week before watering it and then do not drown the plant when you water it. This is very important for the health of the plant.
@@LoulousCorner Your welcome, it was something I learned from a nursery. It's healthier for the roots, it allows the roots time to heal so you have strong roots before watering.

They are called Leca balls and can be ordered online, or found in your local garden shops. They are usually used for semi hydro. Here's some more info. plantcareforbeginners.com/articles/what-is-leca-why-useful-for-growing-plants
@@raybilverstone2066 You're very welcome! I understand the anticipation of having a big beautiful jade!l. I started my collection off with a couple of small neglected cuttings, and now they are 5 year old beautiful bonsais! They have a long way to go still, but the pride is there. Thanks for watching, and the best of luck with yours!
my gollum jade is similar in size to yours, however the trunks are not brown or thick like yours are, do you have any tips on what i may be doing wrong?
Sorry to hear your jade isn't doing so well. Yellowing leaves can be an indication to a couple of things. It could either be a nutritional issue, so the plant has been sitting in old or inadequate medium and is desperate need of a repot and fertilizer.... Or you are over watering it. So if it's a watering issue, it would be a good idea to get it out of the pot and check the roots for any rot. If there is cut away all the bad parts, treat it with some hydrogen peroxide 3% allow the plant to dry and callus over for a day or 2 and repot it into some well draining caucus and succulent mix and in preferably a terracotta pot. As for fertilizer a good cactus and succulent feed at half the recommended dose once a month during the growing season. I hope this helps and good luck!
What are the red pieces in your medium..are they clay pellets?? Do you use it with cactus potting soil..thank you...the jade gollum look adorable..tfs..💚
Yuppers! It's cactus and succulent soil mix, and the orange pieces are indeed clay pellets 😊 It's a product call seramis, I use it for extra drainage in the soil as you would perlite, with a little bit of sand and those clay balls. Thanks for showing my lil gollum some love!
@@LoulousCorner Thnks for the information Lou.😘..i have them lying at home ..but i use them for potting my orchid with (plus orchid medium) And it works really well too...I will try them out once i have to repot succulents..😊..God bless..😉

@@plantsarethenewdiamonds Morning sun it perfect! Yes only give it water when the soil is completely dry. I water mine once a week to twice a month depending on how hot it is, and if the leaves feel a little soft rather than firm.

How long does it takes for them to grow big as I’ve got a small plant.
That took about 2 years to the small one to that size, but they grow really fast! Give them plenty of light and they go nuts in the spring and summer!
@@LoulousCorner thank you very much for getting back to me can’t wait for it to get bigger👍.

There are no tips, it's a natural occurrence just down to age. How old is yours?
@@LoulousCorner about a year old maybe going on 1.5 years..
@@ollie-ev8zm Just give it some time, usually around the 2 year mark is when you start seeing the wood look begin to appear on the older growth.
@@LoulousCorner ah okay lovely. Thank you for your advice.
No problem at all!
What does it mean if the top of my Gollum jade is going yellow ?

Do you have to replant from a leaf or can it be from mid-stem/trunk?
Both will root, however stem cuttings are faster, where as leaf cuttings take much longer.

My gollum is very dried up...I tried various methods...But it's still not recovering...What shall I do?
Have you tried taking the plant out to see how it's roots are doing? Also how often are you watering the plant and how exposed to the sun is it?
I see new roots forming...I do water it when the soil is dry...Plus it gets the morning sun.
