I run a hose down the e brake slot and lines right up with the fill cap. Stick a funnel in the hose and it works great. No panel removal. Someone showed me that and I’m grateful. Thought I’d pass it on. Thank you for your video
The design is a motorcycle clutch which uses oil to help cool the clutch plates. Therefore, you need the right type of Wet Clutch oil as you don't want to damage the clutch plates.
@@misanthropist111 Motorcycle clutches like this use engine oil and not transmission fluid to cool and lubricate the plates and transmission components.
@@misanthropist111 Correct, the clutch is in the transmission. This is a wet clutch style transmission which requires a specially designed engine oil to lubricate and cool the components.
I don't know for sure but I would bet it is. It would be a big design change to re-layout the engine and there is no reason for yamaha to do that. Therefore, I would bet that the process hasn't changed from 17 to 19.
@@RoughRidersTV I watched the engine oil video and differential video and thoroughly enjoyed those to, good job. Thank you. I'm from Lawrence Massachusetts, where are you from?
hmm, I know mine would occasionally have an issue with finding reverse but it wasn't related to the oil. The RPMs needed to be down before it would go into reverse. I had to make sure I kept my foot off the gas pedal so that I didn't blip the throttle. I have heard a couple people say that the bolt on the shifter cable was loose and that gave them problems shifting into reverse. Just a couple of things to check.
@@RoughRidersTV k thanks man, I'll have a look! By the way, if u want a challenge, install the Yamaha front trail bumper with a Warn winch. It was the worst experience I've ever had, but it's on there finally. Lol
@@tuggettightly460 Unfortunately I had to sell the YXZ when I moved. It would not fit in my garage while on the trailer and I didn't have enough room. I'm back on a dirtbike. Though there are a lot of SxS guys here that I am hoping to do some rides with soon.
Hello Elvin, Thanks for the comment. Yes, unlike a regular car type transmission, it is a motorcycle style wet clutch transmission that uses the same oil type as the engine.

Awesome tip. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the video! Very well done!
You are very welcome. Thanks for watching.
Just above the fill plug dipstick ( about 4 inches ) there is a hex head bolt with a gasket that looks like a fill plug . What is its purpose ?
Great video
Thanks
Why do i see every video people are removing the panels? Just use a hand pump from the bottom?
GREAT VIDEO 🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
good video. I'm still trying to figure out why you need "wet clutch" oil for the engine?

@@RoughRidersTV theres no clutch in the engine though
@@RoughRidersTV I understand why the clutch and transmission need it but the engine oil is separate

Do you happen to know if this is the same process and locations for the 2019 yxz1000 ss?

I used the same Mobil 1 oil that you used for the transmission. For some reason it's very hard to get into reverse now. Any thoughts or input?

How’s the mobile one oil working for your SS transmission?
So far, no issues at all. seems to be working well.
Same engine oil for the transmission?
Hello Elvin, Thanks for the comment. Yes, unlike a regular car type transmission, it is a motorcycle style wet clutch transmission that uses the same oil type as the engine.
how often you do this?
I believe the manual calls for 20 hours but I tend to do it a little more frequently. I like to keep fresh fluid in the machine to ensure longevity.
Thanks very good video!
Thanks.
