Wang Yibo is a renaissance man period. Now I love Xiao Zahn for what he brings to the table...but YiBo has it all over his man. He dances, not only traditional and other genres but hip hop, b-box, raps, SINGs, started writing his own songs (which are fire), Became a volunteer fire fighter, Learned how to be a swat/public control officer in riot gear, He is a current Professional Yamaha Motor racer, Co Host of Day Day Up show -he learned a lot of things training on that show - super fast learner, Still member of UNIQ even if Korea disbanded China connection groups currently, skateboarder, snow boarder/skier, ice stakes, roller skates, Surfs, a straight forward and hard working fierce man. I could go on... he is AMAZING he does not give up. There is not another YiBO. He can do all that however, still still super quiet and shy in public unless performing. He is totally afraid of bugs, will completely say he is terrified of the dark and can't watch scary/creepy things....because he feels too physically effected by fear. 💚 I love to cheer his success because of his positive messages of work hard leave the haters behind.
This was a 2019/2020 new years eve performance. There's a longer version where he rides off on a motorcycle - go look for it. Also, the jacket is Chanel, as usual for Yibo! He always looks great in them!
There's so much to unpack from this song, but it's basically about shooting up to fame, how criticism and hate comes with it, and how Yibo's response to it is "Just keep being emotionless." It's a dark song, at least to me. But!! His NYE performance the following year for Rules of My World (that he also composed) is a big leap away from "just be emotionless", boy literally claimed the planet on that one
UNIQ are basically on hiatus and have been since 2015 - 2016 ish, due to political tensions between South Korea and China. Many other groups have had issues with keeping up groups that have both South-Korean and Chinese members; for example, Lay can't promote with EXO as he is the only (remaining) Chinese member. Although UNIQ are more popular in china they are still technically a kpop group and have two South-Korean members. However, only three members performed (Wang Yibo, Kim Sungjoo and Zhou Yixuan) because the other two had debuted into the project groups, X1 (Produce x 101) and UNINE (Youth with You S1/ Idol Producer S2) and therefore were unable to perform due to their contracts.
