Peter Finch, you are an absolute joy to listen to. You are a great communicator. Thank you for the insights into the biomechanics of the golf swing. Along with the Brian bros you are by far the best golf TH-camr on the planet.
Fantastic. I have been losing distance, only in my 30s but expecting third kid, have had lower back issue and had knee surgeries earlier in life. The short or more compact swing is great for average golfers who can’t practice much. I put a lot of work into lengthening my swing and had good results adding distance but it’s like a battle each year to get back to that form. Easier to focus on improving a shorter swing
Thanks Pete! I hurt my back/hip some time ago and while I went through Physical Therapy I had to shorten my swing (which was frustrating to say the least), but I am back to a more normal fuller swing. I will save this video in case that happens again (and I am a guy so it is likely lol)
Peter, thank you, hey I know I have a good sense of humor, I totally get you Pete, I laughed pretty much on every video I've watched so far, idk man ,you hit the mark so many times in a video, Great content no doubt, I'm learning and getting a few good laughs watching all your content , love it , i remember back in the day when you were slaughtering the shields character, your game to me got so much better, oh there has to be a way to rig your subscription numbers, like a million subscribers, yeah ok ,please no name dropping, RS. Hahaha, anyway, great content, everything you're putting out , I completely understand, no mumbo jumbo, no need for a golf encyclopedia, right to the point.
Acceleration up through point of contact results in velocity of ball speed. Force = mass X acceleration. Force applied to the ball results in velocity. Strength snd forward motion toward the ball is not necessarily a requirement of a shorter or larger backswing. Measure force applied to ball or velocity at contact and launch and evaluate the optimal amount of backswing needed to generate that force.
Subbed n liked. I'm a trail leg above knee amputee, I get more consistent contact with my prosthetic planted so I do have any hip rotation. Stuck at 180 yard drives with little to allot of fade! 😂
Love this. I was looking before, but one thing I struggle with is my wrists in the swing. Could you do a video on what your wrists should be doing on take away and at impact? I know everyone says its the most important part but rarely do they explain it well. Much appreciated sir!
Hi Mr Finch, thanks for this session. Recently I was hit by a car and broke my back. Obviously this has impacted my ability to rotate properly in the backswing, and haven’t been able to play golf like I used to. Hopefully the tips from this video will help me get some fun in my game again. Thanks for swinging quest, keep it up sir. (I’m 63 by the way, if that makes any difference. )
That back splayed foot is another rotational tweak for more hip rotation. Great instruction as ever. Well explained & demonstrated (apart from the shank but excellent comedy value Lol).
Fantastic golfer , whitty British humour , excellent help and advice as always. It completely blows my mind that 1 in 2 people don't subscribe , I mean there has to be some sort of a psychological analysis done here because I'm all for learning. There's an irony there 😂
Pete, I’d love to hear your thoughts on left/right eye dominance. I’m right eye dominant and play right handed. So I sort of lose sight of the ball when I try to turn fully. I’m also of good English stocky stock. (I’m American, but my dad is a born and bred Brummie.)
This is definitely my struggle. Can't get a full swing because I have a problem incorporating my lower half. You should allow people to send in swing videos for you to give suggestions about.
Being in my 40’s now and having mobility issues from jumping out of airplanes for the U.S. army, I have definitely been trying the “short” back swing approach. Rushing the downswing is my issue. But when I do it right I’ve actually can get a draw out of it. Thanks for the all the tips and drills you put. Hope you get that 100k soon.
Similar with me. 20 years in the Army did my back in. I notice that when I try to turn my hips I sway more than turn and I am then not shifting weight forward. At 56 I have a realistic opinion of my game. The hinge effect thing is something that a Pro taught me a couple of years ago and it has added about 15 yards to my 7 iron. It is less effective with the driver but I don't need to hit from the back tees anyway.
Peter, I love your videos. You're easily one of the best instructors on the web. I have a concern though. What is that black stuff on the wall behind you? It looks like mold and it's freaking me out. Please assure me that it isn't mold.
The reason why I do a shorter back swing, is because when I do a full swing, clubhead to ball contact gets considerably worse. Having a shorter back swing, helps me get more consistent strikes because there's less to go wrong. That just me though.
You have the same swing philosophy as I do. I almost punch all my shots with a 3/4 swing as I find it minimises any mis hits and I can control more variables but compared to bigger hitters, I’m not too far behind on distance.
@@alancroft7288 Yeah I find if I do a full swing, I struggle to bottom out the club correctly and either thin or fat the ball. Shortening the swing, I've lost some distance, but I'm way more accurate to where I'm aiming. I think it's a confidence thing, too many chunks has got me playing more conservatively 😂
Played with a short swing for years and have gotten worse since extending it (with no lessons). I was able to control the face so much better with a short swing, now my strikes are closer to the heel and I've got an occasional shank. He'll me TH-cam comments! 😂😢
I'm sure that I was subscribed to this channel but no. I was, honest. Promise. So I've subscribed again 😊❤ 74 year old bones don't do, full anything. 😅
Peter you are one of my favorite TH-cam guys. Your swing is so effortless and fluid. But you better layoff those American jelly donuts or you will never get those arms down on the club.

I enjoy Peter Finch so much that I watch instructional videos on topics I don’t even need instruction on.

Pete is simply the best coach on TH-cam. Makes everything simple to understand and keeps it interesting.
These vids has helped my long iron and general game IMMENSELY. My golfer's elbow is healed too. TYVM, you cured 30+ years of doing it wrong ⛳️ 🏌️♂️
Love Pete's hat reppin' Solina Golf Club.

Great instruction as always Pete
Definitely needed this because I have back problems that have limited my range of motion as I get older.

Pete it is me and thank you. With a few tips from the video shot the best I ha e in awhile. Thank you good sir
Brilliant and Simple
Thank you 🙏

I subscribed right after you actually did not edit that shank. lol

I ejected from an F104 in 1967 which left me with lower disks problems. So I can relate to pain limiting your swing.

Is that a Dynapower Forged iron?
Do the same principles apply to driver, any differences? I find the longer club heavier to hinge.
FARTHER! 😂

I’m actually trying to shorten my swing for the exact same reason. Get long go wrong!

It’s not just u I do this also and it’s dropped me to a single digit handicapper

i actually need a restriction because my backswing is way way too much. I need help
50 quid on a game, my short swing vs your long at Wallasey? 👀
1:26 yes, that’s because, like me, I am not a nubile teenager, I am 65 and the inability to do what you are advocating, is painful

Oh to have an effortless 8 iron go 160+ yards. I'll keep trying.
My back swing is tooooooo long. It’s John Daly long. It’s been hard to shorten it.
Hope Jon Rahm is watching this 😊

Just realized I hadn't subscribed, 😣 doh...
Pretty sure you are trying to hit it farther, unless this is some philosophical discussion.
