You are very kind. It now has the pukka chrome tank fitted. The PRU Blue tank went onto IA #666 and is now in NZ. The pukka chrome tank came from IA #855 (swapped with Indian copy).

@@carolynmarshall3598 I have a new one with the chrome tank. It gets a lot of attention! A 60s Interceptor is a world apart in terms of desirability obviously. It’s a gorgeous bike. Would you ever sell it? It sounds good to me. Pick up is a bit slow, but carbs are like that when cold aren’t they.

Maybe it’s not what they both have , but a matter of serotonin ?

Hi, I also own an Interceptor 750 Mk.2 from 1970. Congratulations on your bike. Where did you find the decal you put on the rear fender with the word "interceptor" and the plane drawing? It is really very beautiful.
The decal was designed by me, cribbed from the 1967 advertising flyer. I had about a dozen printed. Used them on a couple of other IAs of mine & a friend used one on his too. I put one on the back of my crash hat as well. I still got some left, black or white "Interceptor" lettering, depending on where you apply it; dark or light background. I used a white one on my black crash hat.
Had a late 1969 Mk 2 Interceptor years and years ago. That, and my T140v Bonnie, were the best bikes I ever owned. Kept them as long as possible but sold them together to a guy from Surrey in the late 80's to help with a deposit on a house. ( Upsizing) . Worst thing I ever did selling those bikes. Should have sold the cars instead . Must of needed my head examined. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, isn't it ?? Ah, but those bikes..............
Memories... can be recaptured. It's just a question of time, money & effort. I once went to see a blue Mk2 Inter UK spec in the Watford area (1989ish). I was appalled at the valve gear racket & just laughed. I know a little more now, but that thing really was noisy. Bloke said it had Gander & Grey race cams. I suggested changing them. I particularly liked the style of the UK spec Inter Mk2, but have never had one yet. The S1 is a better engine though. No built-in self destruct crank seal & a better looking timing side. If only the front end was Mk2...

I have three of these. The 1962 was sold in US thru Indian dealerships and the gear side cover has an indian logo. The 1968 has 34mm amal concentrics but otherwise original and the red stripe on chrome tank. The 1970 interceptor was the first year with an oil cooler. I bought them all used from original owners. The neutral finder was put on because total lift on the clutch pressure plate is .007 and will drag you into an intersection of a traffic signal. Barnet clutch disks help but the neutral finder works great. Wish my 68 sportster had one. The late 60's Enfields have a 42 pound fully balanced crankshaft and have NO vibration in the handlebars. The bikes are light with a 17 pound chrome moly frame and a lot of alloy parts. Valve adjustment on the intake valves is a horrendus task on all three of them with the Indian Enfield monoblock carbs a real nightmare. Nothing else to do maintenance wise and no oil stains on the hall carpet. Supurb handling on mountain canyon twisties. Hard to turn over but the 68 and 70 models are capacitive discharge and start right up. The 62 has a Lucas (prince of darkness) magneto so for years I parked it on a hill to avoid kicking. Sort of like starting the BSA 500cc single Gold Star. These bikes are not CBR honda fast but no Norton, Triumph, or BSA will run with it or top end it on the interstate. Outruns an 883 sportster in a straight line and embarrases it on twisty roads. A Norton 750 may be a better handling machine but fortunately the people riding them don't try to prove it. Just a note I have Opal pistons and rings on the 62 discovered in an interchange parts listing. Compression ratio is lower so easier to start.
I at one time in my life owned a 650cc Norton twin. Called it the Norton vibrator and could walk it across the garage with the throttle, same with my 750cc European model Triumph. Also owned the 750 cc RE and that was a very smooth running machine.
KL 46 that is coming from a person who shows a Soviet hammer and sythe and a country that to this day can not produce a car or motorcycle anyone would buy. Also known for the total unreliability of just about everything made there.
What a marvelous sound. One of the most beautiful bikes in history. I have an Interceptor 650 and I'd love to have it stablemates with an original.

The second lever on the gear box is to put the trans in neutral without having to shift down or up, handy at a stop light.

No vibes, other than a wobble at tickover. Much better than my N15CS Norton, but then that is not bad for vibes either.
