Finger waves use to be one of the first things you learn in cosmetology. A trick that helped me the most was using duckbill clips after each wave so the hair doesn’t straighten when starting the following wave, followed with tying the hair down with Sanek strips and let air dry or sitting under a low temp dryer
Ditch the Curl Lala the oil is going to ruin the efficacy of the styling mousse. Try the style again but this time on freshly washed hair only using Mos def. Love that you’re sharing your hair journey with us ❤
I have been waiting for this, so I appreciate even trying it. 😂 bless your heart. I did the same thing first time, i said "fuck this" lol it's not easy on yourself. Now, ill only do the front and leave the back a curly wet look. It helps if your hair is sopping wet, it'll give it enough weight to mold it down. You are so beautiful, I can't imagine looking at you and thinking masculine.
Finger waves just take lots of practice! I can remember in cosmetology school everyone had trouble with finger waves! Try push waves first as they are much easier to achieve quickly but keep on practicing finger waves as they would look beautiful on you!!
This comment brought back so many bad memories of cosmetology school! I could not grasp finger waves, and it pissed me off so bad my "lab partner"(white girl) was bussin' them thangs down...I mean best in class. We had to be graded on off set on set pin curls with waves. She was done first...mannequin flawless. Let's just say my petty ass walked by with a comb and "oopsed" the entire middle of her mannequin and she failed 🤷♀️
This is my biggest issue with my hair. I’m trying so hard not to wear a protective style and feel feminine in my hair, it’s so hard! I can’t wait for my curls to grow longer.
Try @ErinParsonsMakeup. ..she has a short showing how she does finger-waves & they look amazing..if you like hair & makeup you'll like her channel..its fantastic!..seriously check her out,you won't regret it,her content is great!..
I love the cut and how it highlights your beautiful face. Keep trying it will come more easy-going to style once you get totally comfortable with your curls...
Lots of practice is the key, and the right products. Once you get the correct technique in it gets easier. I learned years ago for my state board tests. Had to do a whole head with pin curls at the bottom, in 3 min or less. It was hard at first. I think it would be beautiful on you. Finger waves in place or combed out.
1. Finger waves are usually a perm style not saying u have to have a perm to do finger waves it just when u have a perm your hair is straight is way easier to do and a lot of girls I see doing the finger waves either have perm or straighter hair 2. Use a style gel or a mold spray even though they look soft and wavy most of the times they're hard and crunchy 😂😂 so a good gel or spray comb it through your hair then do the waves tie your hair with a durag or scarf and let it dry ... hope this helps 😁
I like that you were honest to show that you tried and it didnt work.I haven't tried this as yet but from what I have seen, its possible with longer hair. 1.Try sitting under the dryer, then use a curing iron to create the curl. 2. Maybe use tiny rollers and sit under dryer. I havent tried as yet for myself but its what I'll try myself. 3. Keep watching TH-cam for inspiration.
I've got finger waves in right now and you didn't use enough product. I know it sounds wild and feels wrong but your hair needs to be drenched. A lot of mousse and then some gel. Also don't let your hair dry out at all Once you've got one curve, clip or just press it against your head with the other hand while doing the next curve down. When you get down to the part that's too long, you can either pop in curlers or just let it spring back to your natural texture to create a bouncy thirties style instead of the sleek twenties It's definitely tricky to get the hang of but once you get in the groove it's so so worth it
Ditch the curl Lala and curl creams in general. They mainly work by adding weight and they don't actually help you mold the hair. Styling foams work best on clean wet or damp hair with no other products. Good luck
The curl creams are for making curls and she's doing waves...so that's why 😂 but she definitely needs something that helps mold the hair. Growing up in the 80s we used the black pro style gel but our hair was relaxed too 😂😂 but I think even with me being natural now the black gel will still work. Also maybe straighten the hair first by flat iron would probably make it a lot easier too.
@Quirky Jones yeah I remember that gel, I don't think my hair would lay flat without being relaxed. But definitely can't use curly hair products to do finger waves
😂😂 I did the same thing after cutting all my hair off I was so lost when it was growing back so happy it's long again because I just couldn't maintain the Amber Rose cute
I'm a hairstylist and had to take a class. You have a lot of natural curl...I would have use gel to keep it flat..I wish you were closer to me I'd do your hair for free...just because!
I remember my mom cut my hair when I would little because of her jealousy over my step mom styling my hair 😮 however my dad told her to never touch my hair again 😅 My mom hired a stylist to finger wave my hair because it was so short. I promise you my hair seemed like it grew back long overnight 🎉 I believe something about the moisture from the products you use to finger wave 🌊 is the key to healthy long hair well at least from my own personal experience ❤ I came here to learn so I can try it again
You can try any 8 styles 👉👉👉: 1. Leave in conditioner oil loc twists; 2. 5-8 flat twist then takeout I'm morning; 3. 5-8 plats then take out in morning 4. Pebbles look 5. side twist on one side with hair clip 6. Bantu knots 7. Flexi Rods in a fun style 8. 2 top knots with back out
Those clips that are like Gator clips without the teeth. They are just the straight clips. I don't know the name of them I know they use them in beauty salons. Those work amazingly for doing waves! It's cheating literally 😊 try those!
Listen, I saw this lady on here doing finger waves with these combs, specifically for finger waves...last time I did finger waves on myself, I had to use gel...did you use gel...?
Literally just chopped my hair at the salon then cut it even shorter, I love having short hair but the maintenance is so hard lol I have used so much mouse, I’m black and white and my hair is just frizzy and it doesn’t flatten with mouse at all! Next time let’s try gel!
MASCULINE? GIRL U R STUNNING VERY BEAUTIFUL AND FEMININE YOU GOT CURVES BEAUTIFUL SKIN SHINY HAIR THICK SHINY HAIR SO GORG !!!! ❤ YOU ARE CLEARLY BEAUTIFUL
You should try to get it done at a salon but for slightly longer hair the actual style is called something else I forgot. I'll mention it again when I remember but you need clips to hold the hair in place. And my sister has bootleg finger waves where she brushes her hair down flat. And do the waves or swoops only in the front and wrap it down with a scarf to help hold it in place. I think it looks very feminine on her.
her foundation matches perfectly fine actually, it blends into her neck and thats what you should color match not the exact color of your face. I say this as someone who has seen her in person and the foundation looked fine.
MAD SCIENTIST ? HELL NAW YOU ARE SO SO BEAUTIFUL I DONT KNOW WHO TOLD YOU THAT BUT THEIR CARAZY !!! BIG HUGE EYES YOUR FEATURES EVERYTHING ABOUT YOU IS BEAUTIFUL ❤ I WOULD LOVE TO LOOK THAT CUTE BUT IM AN OLD GIRL NOW ❤LOL ❤
DaMasterStylist has a tutorial from four years ago. The length looks about the same too. If the curls dont stay, you can usually use clips (without the spikes alligator clips) until it dries. Also maybe try a pomade? I know my grandma had curls like yours and it wouldnt hold without a strong gel/pomade. Its a beautiful style! I hope this helps! Ps Im 32 and still struggling with my curly/wavy hair. I have no idea what to do lol. th-cam.com/video/Y76eSR_3YlQ/w-d-xo.html
You put on clothes that don’t look too good on u .’ And now we have to see u post your hair procedure. Can’t u do anything without an audiance??(and most people ,’like me, know how to do hair by now
If you dont like her videos why tf do you waste your time watching them just to comment? Like you genuinely wake up everyday and go 'hmm lemme go be a hateful bitch on someones posts that they get paid for' meanwhile what money are you making from these comments? oh right NONE. and most people(apparently not like you) also know how to be quiet by now but i see you skipped that lesson.

Do the mousse first and then use gel! Works like a charm. Then after covering it (allowing it to dry) spray with a holding spray
Appreciate the honesty. Sometimes it’s hard to achieve certain hairstyles.
Only thing I can do successfully is a top knot bun 😩♥️
Ditch the Curl Lala the oil is going to ruin the efficacy of the styling mousse. Try the style again but this time on freshly washed hair only using Mos def. Love that you’re sharing your hair journey with us ❤
You do NOT look masculine! You look gorgeous!
The end hairstyle was nice and looked good on you 👌🏾
I have been waiting for this, so I appreciate even trying it. 😂 bless your heart. I did the same thing first time, i said "fuck this" lol it's not easy on yourself. You are so beautiful, I can't imagine looking at you and thinking masculine.
I wish you lived closer. There are so many styles you could rock and I would be able to show you how. Don't get discouraged, Sis!
Wait the braids are so cute tho!!

Hair is lovely. I even like the side part more than the middle part tho
You are super pretty
This is my biggest issue with my hair. I’m trying so hard not to wear a protective style and feel feminine in my hair, it’s so hard! I can’t wait for my curls to grow longer.
Your soooo pretty
I’ve never been able to do finger waves! It’s like the hardest style ever for me!!
Try @ErinParsonsMakeup. ..she has a short showing how she does finger-waves & they look amazing..if you like hair & makeup you'll like her channel..its fantastic!..seriously check her out,you won't regret it,her content is great!..
I think you should try edge fixer gel. It works on my 4c hair with ease. I finger wave my edges with it.
You look good Girl!!! 🌹
I love the cut and how it highlights your beautiful face. Keep trying it will come more easy-going to style once you get totally comfortable with your curls...
I love it too ! It’s so hard to do your own hair sometimes especially with a new cut. Can’t wait to see her new protective style ❤
I love your hair short, it really makes
Your beautiful face the main focus ❤
Two strand twist and pull out would be bomb

Don't use foam, Stella use gel. I've been doing finger waves for years. Gel helps kerp the wave formed. Try clear ice gel.
Your face is way too beautiful to ever be considered masculine. Too pretty honestly.
Your natural hair is beautiful
So cute!

It looks good!
Use Mervin wave clips & they’ll come out perfect.
When I was taught in cosmetology school it’s usually done on straight or perm hair.
I've got finger waves in right now and you didn't use enough product. I know it sounds wild and feels wrong but your hair needs to be drenched. A lot of mousse and then some gel. Also don't let your hair dry out at all

They have vintage clips to form the waves its that makes it easier for you
Ditch the curl Lala and curl creams in general. They mainly work by adding weight and they don't actually help you mold the hair.

Gel works the best!
That is cute🤗
Use duck clips to hold waves in place and let them dry and you should have proper finger waves
😂😂 I did the same thing after cutting all my hair off I was so lost when it was growing back so happy it's long again because I just couldn't maintain the Amber Rose cute
No more curl la la for finger waves you need more gel and foaming setting lotion and a dryer to sit under
Beautiful face ! 🤩🤩🤩
I'm a hairstylist and had to take a class. You have a lot of natural curl...I would have use gel to keep it flat..I wish you were closer to me I'd do your hair for free...just because!

that’s how I get discouraged lol
Always clean wet hair! Doesn’t work well just wetting with product
You can try any 8 styles 👉👉👉: 1. Leave in conditioner oil loc twists; 2. 5-8 flat twist then takeout I'm morning;
3. 5-8 plats then take out in morning
4. Pebbles look

6. Bantu knots
7. Flexi Rods in a fun style

Finger wave is usually done on straight hair.
duckbill clips might help you keep the waves in place will they set. that works for longer hair.
Number 1 rule of finger waving. Don’t give up!!!!!😂
Those clips that are like Gator clips without the teeth. They are just the straight clips. I don't know the name of them I know they use them in beauty salons. Those work amazingly for doing waves! It's cheating literally 😊 try those!
That was real! I so get it!

Nobody:
Cast: Do Yo Homework On…
🤣🤣
You need the finger wave clips. So easy when you have longer hair, highly recommend!!!
MASCULINE? GIRL U R STUNNING VERY BEAUTIFUL AND FEMININE YOU GOT CURVES BEAUTIFUL SKIN SHINY HAIR THICK SHINY HAIR SO GORG !!!! ❤ YOU ARE CLEARLY BEAUTIFUL

You are beautiful
You NEED a strong hold gel forsure
Seeing those straight bits trigger me soooo badly lol. Cut them off!!! That's damage.
Try again using only a firm gel like eco styler
It’s definitely tricky. It’s easy once you figure it out but since you’re natural your hair might be too long.
Attempt finding a foundation that matches next..
her foundation matches perfectly fine actually, it blends into her neck and thats what you should color match not the exact color of your face. I say this as someone who has seen her in person and the foundation looked fine.
Yes please stop the middle part it’s 😣😬
Middle part is fine your eyebrows tho arent.
You need a lot of gel!
I loved your natural hair not masculine at all. But yep we allll like to style things up every now and then 😁
MAD SCIENTIST ? HELL NAW YOU ARE SO SO BEAUTIFUL I DONT KNOW WHO TOLD YOU THAT BUT THEIR CARAZY !!! BIG HUGE EYES YOUR FEATURES EVERYTHING ABOUT YOU IS BEAUTIFUL ❤ I WOULD LOVE TO LOOK THAT CUTE BUT IM AN OLD GIRL NOW ❤LOL ❤

You are Beautiful but you would get the perfect curls if you cut the long pieces
Need more gel every strand needs to be saturated with gel
May work, just need the correct products.
You need Gel!!
A lot of moose
Your hair is too curly for a finger wave. You would need to do a molded hairstyle with the du wrap tape. 😊
Just go to beauty school for fingerwaves
You need gel!!!
That a no for me
u need jel not foam
Oh hell no girl 😂😂 that ain't it...But you need to tell us your skin care routine cause your skin is flawless!!
You need gel f or your con of hair

Go to a professional
U need moulding gel. Stop following tiktok
You put on clothes that don’t look too good on u .’ And now we have to see u post your hair procedure. Can’t u do anything without an audiance??(and most people ,’like me, know how to do hair by now
