@Apache Ranch Thank you for this! You saved my Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland and my 8'x4' utility trailer. That noise was driving me insane and I was ready to firebomb the whole thing and start over. 😉 Thank you. ~ Jeremy ~
Any suggestions for a quick release u-bolt stabalizer? I frequently switch between a hitch with 2" ball and a recovery ring style hitch. Having to unbolt a u-bolt each time would be annoying. Wonder if I can simply ratchet strap that metal piece against the hitch instead of using the full u-bolt and nuts? Maybe some other idea for a quick release?
Well you don’t necessary need to buy this just put card board or duck tape around male part or rubber piece in the gap would be save time money…oh boy I try this clamp 2 bolts under $10 at harbor freight work like a champ really smooth I speed up to 80mph w/o no problem on long trip you really need this clamp

Exactly what I’ve been doing for years. Duct tape works great. Even if you don’t want it super snug it still dampens the metal on metal noice.
Can I get this u bolt at a hardware store? I don’t have time to wait for Amazon
You probably can get one with a rounded end. A large enough one might work.
split washer or flat washer goes on first? I've seen both ways
I usually put the split washer next to the nut.
Interesting but my hitch never rattles 🤔 I just grease my receiver and hitch ball
Pickup truck or SUV? If SUV, you will notice the difference.
Used them they get lose ,junk.
Tighten it up right! It won’t losen up.
