Donggung Palace and Wolji Historical Site No. 18 Unified Silla Period palace grounds, used as a palace where the prince resides along with several annexes including the Imhaejeon Hall, is a place where the prince gives banquet when there is a slope of the country or when he receives precious guests. According to "Samguk Sagi," there is a record that says, "In the 14th year of King Munmu of Silla (674), they dug a pond in the palace to plant houseplants and raised quaint birds and strange beasts." In the 5th year of King Gyeongsun (931), there are records such as "A feast was held at the Imhaejeon Hall for King Taejo of the Goryeo Dynasty." The date of construction of Wolji and Donggung Palace and the characteristics of major buildings can be seen.
In 1975, most of the Wolji, which was built during the Silla Dynasty, was confirmed in an excavation survey that combined with dredging, and it was confirmed that the date of construction was consistent with the records through the roof tiles excavated from the Donggung building site and the name engraved on the Sanghwamunjeon Hall.
Wolji was also called Anapji because geese and ducks flew into this ruined place during the Joseon Dynasty.
