A few weeks ago. I was developing with my Patterson tank. When I poured the chemicals into the toilet the top plastic funnel that sits above the reels came lose and everything fell into the toilet. Anyway, I quickly put it together and moved on to the stop bath portion and the film was fine. Grateful I did not lose those negatives because they turned out to be precious photos (to me).

So, that is comparable with a SD card going corrupt for digital photography. But then you may loose thousands of frames instead of twelve. I use a plastic tank. Never heard os problems with them but now I am sure there are. Have you ever heard of problems with plastic tanks? Thanks for this tip!

30 years ago I worked in a one hour photo lab. Very high standards and precautions. Still, machines fail and I’ve seen pretty precious negatives shredded in the metal. Clients crying, memories lost. Life in photography.
