Congratulations with your result and thanks for sharing this video Jon! Proves to me that maggots are the best bait in this time of the year 👍Well done!
Well done on section win and 3rd. The usual running commentary was totally amazing. Great venue, we fished Jacks and Stretton last year. Definitely going over to maggots and expanders now. Keep them coming Jon.
Great match Jon,maggot over pellet for a change.Great how your always chopping and changing for that extra fish...hence now your one of the top matchmen fishing. Keep on sharing these match videos.
3rd ain't a bad place to be. Nice going. Especially as you beat Jamie Hughes. He's a tough nut to crack. Katie is such s gem, I don't think you're old enough to remember, but in the 70's and early 80's, there was a commercial on TV, I don't recall the products, but a little girl was there, and her line was "My mummy says 'I'm going to be a proper little madam when I grow up'", sitting there loaded with pride, really pleased with herself. That's who Katie reminds me of. So sweet. Any way, well done mate. TTFN.
Great video Jon as always looked a great venue Yes looking forward to scaling down in the winter fishing for silvers and working for bites Keep up the great work🎣🎣
Great video Jon I'm lucky enough to have a caravan 20mins up the road from weston pools it's a great venue I think Jack's and weir are my favourite pools
Totally agree with Jon about the lower weight / tactical style of match fishing. Separates those 'venue experts' on hook a duck fisheries from decent match anglers. Great viewing, thank you!
Great content Jon, nice match breakdown, thanks for sharing, never been to Weston Pools, looks a nice fishery, brilliant hobbit homes to stay in. Fishing looks spot on too, well done at the end 👍
Well fished John did it leave you wishing you had tried to your right earlier definitely kept you busy showed how to work your peg. The old bleep machine was busy too lol 😂. Good stuff John. Mick Booth (Chloe's Dad)
Thanks, I find starting a new short swim very late can be effective this time of year on lots of venues, so I feed a main one early then fire up the other one late if things aren't working out 👍
Brilliant again John so much taken in and also hope to see you with Ali next year at the match day he put up on the one more cast event he done a great match day check that out worth a watch 👍 thank me later 👍
how did you find sleeping in the hobbit house Jon? im booking one for myself, i will probably take my camping toilet as it looks like u may have to get up and walk in the middle of the night, and i get up in the middle of the night many times at my age hahahaa. great video as usual matey :-)
I have a few power banks but usually don't hook them up during a match. Instead I actually turn them on and off and might have to do a mid-match battery swap. That'll surprise a LOT of people!
@@JonArthur Yeah that does surprise me,I can do the chest cam fast but it's the other one I want to put either on a margin float view or just a side view for different prospective, tried using remote but have found the wifi kills battery almost as quick!! Thanks for taking time to respond, much appreciated.
Another fantastic video Jon, the noise from that aerator would have sent me bonkers going all day. Could I ask a question off subject. I don't thing I've ever seen you use and type of liquid bait additives while fishing pellets, do you or are you a firm believer against. Thanks Malc.
Really enjoyed that John thanks for sharing. Any thoughts on why at the end your new short right hand swim was more productive than the swim you primed all day?
I think because it's a totally clean area and the fish are ready to come in close but sometimes wary of a swim that's been fed all day, or the bottom has been disturbed too much.
Hi John, Frank from Liverpool, I am a part time angler John and 64 with health issues which prevent me from getting on the bank as often as I would like. Could you clear up something which still baffles me to date, that us, what is an F1, back in my day it was perch, pike, roach, Rudd , bream tench, crucian carp.
F1,s are a mix of common carp and crucian carp, they grow faster than regular carp species. Hope that helps mate, tight lines 👍 Ps to tell the difference f1,s have 2 barbules compared to 4 on normal carp.
F1 means First generation hybrid, and applies to anything from plants to animals and of course fish. Usually it's a crucian carp and common carp hybrid. They are slow growing and feed throughout the winter and can be distinguished as they only have a couple of little nodules if anything at all, whereas a proper common carp will have full-grown barbules.
I have one, and yes it is! I use it on commercials with 10-12 and 14-16 elasitcs, and it handles everything Comes with a match kit too, I use that for silver fishing
Is there any golden rule regarding which angler can fish against the platform between you? Or If you see the next door angler getting a few there could you drop your float and rig two inches from his to start catching???As long as it is exactly half way? I once fished a match where I baited up by a bush between us and when I started catching in the last hour he dropped in right next door to me!!!! Grrrrrr.
Some venues only allow you to fish to one side, but I don't think that rule is necessary anywhere I go. It is normally halfway to the next angler or the next platform leg (so the platform width is ample free space between you both). I would ALWAYS try and strike up an agreement with the next angler where you can each fish and try and give each other a metre space or more. I have sadly seen some selfish idiots try to fish exactly halfway which is poor form really as you just cancel each other out. But I haven't experienced that for a long time as most people have some common sense and decency!
Jon, I have previously commented on how tidy your box is . So Iit is only fair to comment on the state of your van. It looks like your gear was hurled in by a group of Orangutans.
What a venue. What an Angler
Ha ha, great venue I agree

Looks lovely there Jon, only 45 mins from me. Nice mixed fishery it seems. May have to give it a go. Well done, can't win 'em all!
Do it!
Fantastic video mate. Hope one day you get called up to fish for England
Thanks Brian but it's never been an ambition of mine. I'd rather win Fisho ha ha!
@@JonArthur I'm sure you will get what you wish for.
You could take up Pike Fishing lol
Brilliant again John so much taken in and also hope to see you with Ali next year at the match day he put up on the one more cast event he done a great match day check that out worth a watch 👍 thank me later 👍
Thanks for watching 👍
Always a joy!! 👍
Well done m8 !
Thanks for watching 👍
Glad it isn't just me who panics when they storm up and down a lake in a match haha
Yep, so difficult on such a small lake with close pegging. Thanks for watching 👍
Well done mate, great video. If only there was another 20mins of fishing, reckon you'd have won the whole match. Great section win from an iffy peg.
They'd definitely arrived hadn't they!?
how did you find sleeping in the hobbit house Jon? im booking one for myself, i will probably take my camping toilet as it looks like u may have to get up and walk in the middle of the night, and i get up in the middle of the night many times at my age hahahaa. great video as usual matey :-)
It was OK, just a bed and a room which was all I needed. Definitely take your mobile loo!
Good match jon, off topic what are those 5 black stacks side of greenhouse? Ta
Oil tank!
Top video again mate,do you use a power bank for you go pro?can you tell me which one cause I haven't found any which say compatible for go pro, cheers
I have a few power banks but usually don't hook them up during a match. Instead I actually turn them on and off and might have to do a mid-match battery swap. That'll surprise a LOT of people!

Great Video Jon was you on peg 24
Yup
jon did you do any filming when you was at white acers ? back next year my self in june cant wait loving the vids pal
Sadly never got the cameras out. Should've filmed my two lake wins on Acorn and Twin Oaks really!
Another fantastic video Jon, the noise from that aerator would have sent me bonkers going all day. Could I ask a question off subject. I don't thing I've ever seen you use and type of liquid bait additives while fishing pellets, do you or are you a firm believer against. Thanks Malc.
I mess about with additives a lot but generally on bigger venues targeted by specimen anglers and if its very coloured water.
Congrats on your section win and third overall Jon, when fishing the maggot feeder how short would you go on the hook length
Down to 8in at times, but 12-15in seems optimum.

Exciting , can I ask,, why no grand bait?
I had some F1 Dark mixed up but it just seemed a bit to clear and they responded well to net maggots on the day.
What swim number is that mate, just out of interest as I’m going myself in a weeks time 🎣
Sorry not sure, but it was on the back bank somewhere! Have a good match
Is the MTX2 a solid pole ?
I have one, and yes it is!
I use it on commercials with 10-12 and 14-16 elasitcs, and it handles everything
Comes with a match kit too, I use that for silver fishing
It’s actually an MTX 4 ultra.
Definitely!
Thanks for advice !!
Was just looking for a new pole and was stuck on what to choose
Leaf tourettes 😆 Opportunity there for a compilation video of lots of anglers swearing at leaves!
Ha ha, yep that'd be a good un!
Thank god the milk 🥛 🥛 bottles have been put away til next year 😃👍🍌
Watch this space...🥛 🥛
good fishin jon shame about first day

I'd be afraid to sit in that Hobbit House, get up to fast from that chair and your gonna knock yourself out without thinking.
Are you Gandalf? Ha ha!
Love your videos Jon but not tomato sauce on a full English 🤮 🤣🤣
