How could anyone dislike this it's pure soul and happiness. When I haven't gone to church when I need a reminder I'm gods son I sing this song to myself
these ladies are truly some of the most talented singers iv ever had the pleasure and honor to here. . God bless them all and if they go to glory before i do i hope thell be singing me home. God love um.
This song was created by ENSLAVED Africans and African Americans working on a PLANTATION field. It is derived from WEST AFRICAN work songs! It is absolutely a CULTURAL thing. Regardless of LOCATION or CHURCH DENOMINATION a majority of African Americans know these songs!
@@Codi892 some of it does. it most certainly isn't white southern. but these people are Gullah-Geechee and we are from a cooridor on the shore on the southeast usa, specifically. me and this group from the same area in south carolina and are southern. but that's just in the specific flavor of how the song is presented here. the song is specifically African American, you like said, and written in the 1920's. so after slavery but still influenced by the same culture.

Glad to be southern. These ladies are great.

These are negro spirituals tho. Has nothing to do with being southern. I live in the Midwest and was taught these songs as a child.
