This is a very well balanced video: history, market position, strengths and weaknesses combined with cool and uncommon video footage. Your commentary is a nice bonus: a pleasant voice that is not from a robot or too fast, and easy to understand even for non-native english speakers. Just one suggestion for improvement: please invest in a better microphone, as it sounds a bit like you're talking from inside a bucket 😉
In the danish army, this helikopter was the boggyman. If we didn’t dig our foxholes deep enough or used comuflage in an effektive way - Then the platoon leader always told us that: “the big bad Hind” would rip us apart. This was probatly the weapon that we had most respect for.
3:13 when this version appeared in MG:Peace Walker, I thought it was something the studio dreamt up - I was fascinated to discover the Hind's evolution through these earlier iterations. You don't often see Western designs adapt the way I've seen some Soviet tech developed. I won't be the first/last to say this, but your delivery, the objectivity of the content, and the heaps of information you gather/present to your audience ? Really brings people from all over, no bias to turn away those that simply wish to know much more about machines from just as many countries. No dubstep, no After Effects overload. Clean and easy to digest. It's such a sensible and considerate attitude to take, as content creators, I don't often get this lucky when scrolling my feed. Many thanks 👍🍻 🇨🇦
The last European combat actions for Hinds was of those in Croatian Air Force service ( a regiment of Hind s D and E ) during the war in Croatia and Bosnia Herzegovina in the 1995. They used them in couple of anti tank missions , but mostly in CAS roles against the Serb ground forces. One was lost in Bosnia during a such mission.
Perfect example of the Russian brute force approach. The air-to- air reports are startling; I had not heard of actual combat (or kills) with helos-- only as targets for fast movers.
Love this helicopter! Russian helicopters are amazing! When crewed by Russian or Boer pilots these choppers are 2nd to none. Also I would think the Indian Army version would be very good. The Russians are first and best though. I believe the Czech Army also used them and theirs are painted with some awesome designs!
Mi-24/35 is the best/deadliest/beautiful/powerful helicopter in the world 2 me!!! They need 2 make a stealth version. it owuld have to be made longer so it could be made wider so it could hold internal missiles but that could be scaled. As long as they keep upgrading this he;licopter it will be viable until they decide to go all stealth helicopter platforms. Like i said before they should make a stealthy version of this chopper!!
I wonder why the US has never made it,s own version of the hind ? A troop transport capable of not just defending itself but to go on the attack seems like a worthwhile piece of equipment to me
Helos are part of the army, the most conservative branch. If the story of how they resisted adapting the m16, the bradley and the m1 abrams are to be attested, adapting to change is not one of the army's virtues.
The Soviets were really weird with their weapons systems. They go cheap cheap cheap cheap cheap on everything. Then, every once in a while, they throw out something like THIS. A big, expensive, Do-everything gunship that is a nightmare for any enemy the size of the USA's flying banana. I mean, expensive aircraft are not uncommon in the Soviet Union, but they are always prototypes that never see the light of day. This... is something beautiful. I wonder why the USA doesn't build gunships like this. A blackhawk/apache hybrid sounds like a good idea.

I am not sure if the use of helicopters by the US during Vietnam War was a complete success due to staggering losses that they suffered as well as their crews and the infantry they carried/tried to save.
Well the Huey helped alot bringing Troops to strategic Positions fast and without having to manage going through the Jungle. The Fact that it was in a losing battle was the stealthyness the NVA and VC had using the Jungle to the fullest Advantage. It would have been much more horrible sending those GI's in VC infested Jungles by Foot.
There would be thousands more dead in the jungles if the helos didn't provide medevac on time or didnt provide fire support. There would be many units cut to ribbons if not for resupply and reinforcements on time from helicopters, the battle of Ia Drang valley is a prime example, the first half saw an american success due to overwhelming air power and innovative use of helicopters while the 2nd part of the battle saw the ground based relief column get ambushed and nearly wiped

All thing is good in this helicopter but what about anti aircraft missiles and gun stringer so its useless for main battle its only special operations and terrorist groups only
They need to be upgunned to use the Russian 30mm tbh. That would make it even more attractive to typical Russian weapons customers and even newer ones. Edit I meant the flexible mounted auto canon on the newer models. Not the older models that already has the 3mm but on a fixed mount.
You don't really need the 30mm for soft and not heavily armored Enemys. For Tanks and APC/IFV it uses the Ataka! The most important use of the Gun is for Infantry Positions - Where you need fast and accurate Gunfire. The Ka-50/52 has a great 30mm and I can see how accurate it can be using it often in DCS World. Though if you face heavily armored Vehicles it won't help much. SO I use the Ataka first to disable the Tanks and then go in with the Gun for the Infantry surrounding it. Remember that the Infantry nowadays can carry Manpads and that Range and Rate of Fire of the Gun is more important than the Projectile Weight. In this Cases I'd prefer a fast firing 14/20mm to a slow firing 30mm!
Ukraine war proved that Mi-24 and Ka-52 are very expensive mobile platforms to launch unguided rockets in indirect fire. They are one of the worst weapons against an enemy with decent AA capabilities.
