I love how this video explores the idea that clinging to life and resisting change is what causes suffering. The explanation of Nirvana as 'letting go' and the realization that there's no separate self really resonates with me. This wisdom on accepting life’s transience is truly liberating!
Thank you for sharing your wonderful thoughts! You're absolutely right - the idea that clinging to life and resisting change creates suffering is such a profound insight. The concept of Nirvana as "letting go" and realizing there's no separate self truly resonates with the deeper wisdom of accepting life's impermanence. When we stop fighting change and surrender to the flow of life, we can experience a true sense of freedom and peace. It's truly liberating!
Some people think Alan Watts is giving answers to things he does not know enough about. In truth, Watts talks about things that are very obvious and very clear to all of us. He is simply bringing up the truths we try to hide from ourselves. He knows as much as everyone else. He just wasn't afraid to bring it up like the rest of us. That is a good teacher. Everything he said was the reality of the only truths humans ever could know. He fully knew what he was talking about.
@huepix Alan watts was not a con artist. He meant what he preached. Just because someone isn't out helping starving children doesn't mean they aren't doing something meaningful. That's a shallow way to define someone as a good person. Alan Watts was trying to save people from themselves. He believed that it could be achieved through the Eastern spiritual teachings.
@LunarMarie This is exactly how I felt about his lectures when I first discovered them. This is how I described him to people in my life. All the things he shared were things that I thought of even as a child in some form and hearing him made me feel as if I was listening to myself speaking through another version of me that was no longer. I grew up in a standard Christian household and family so it's not as if I was exposed to Buddhism or Buddhist teaching but many of the Buddhist conclusions came to me from just learning about the world and observing things around me as well as absorbing what knowledge humans have currently about the universe and elemental particles everything in existence consists of. He is not telling you or anyone what to believe. This is not about belief systems. It's about understanding
@@Meditative-Bliss Yeah, I see that, the congruence is an amalgamation of previous experiences. Thousands of years of thought being expressed with ease by mr. On a large scale life, not this or that living thing, but life itself has a lesser purpose and a greater purpose. The lesser purpose is to perpetuate life through survival and reproduction. The greater purpose is to disapate energy more quickly. Life can only exist in an environment that is being bathed in excess energy, and the energy going into the environment is greater than the energy leaving the environment. Life itself is complex and requires energy to maintain, and the maintenance of life disapates the energy of that environment faster than it would otherwise disapate. This follows the greater patterns of entropy.
But you're both confusing function and meaning. What you desctibe is the workings of that Universe, its function. The meaning is about the Human experience. You're thrown into this World, lent to it for ,90 years. You realize it's hell for animals and a mix of good and Bad things for Human... And then you're removed of it. That experiment we're in went wrong. Why ? Answering that is giving the meaning....
@@Stoicbeast33 The question that really haunts me is why did it go wrong ? Why is a part of the Universe (mankind) disappointed and baffled by Its fate ? Why do some of us build cathedrals or make beautiful paintings and others take delight in torturing ?. The Christian explaination that we disobeyed God and are punished as a result, seems so naïve. The Cathar explaination that the Creator of the Universe is a malevolent entity and that we should put an end to this World by not reproducing, is interesting but not totally convincing.
nothing can bring more happiness than a pilgrimage to The Ganges, a gulp of that sacred water could be better than chanting a mantra for hours or even running 12 prayer wheels !
The point is if you reach the state of simply focusing your attention on the joy of simply living, everything else will fall into place. But when focusing on the material world and the illusion of danger, we put ourselves in a state of survival mode and that creates an energetic frequency that sends signals to the universe showing that we are struggling. Struggling signals equals the universe will support you in making you struggle more, but By focusing your attention on living in joy and being true to the hidden source within you, you create a frequency of abundance and the universe will send you passion, energy and opportunities internally and externally to make that representative of who it is you are. Basically, you can only have what you define yourself as first. Being at a state of peace even if the material world does not change, that’s how far you have to change.
