    Need your help to understand what does Magnetic Lines direction represent ... when we say the tangent to the magnetic lines points north ... on earth (or on Magnet) say at latitude 45 degree north .. there is a direction of magnetic field lines .. what does it mean .. that it is pointing north? What does the north mean?

    sir, u have mentioned about the earth horizontal magnetic field which is absolutely right.But what about the earth's vertical magnetic field.Will it affect the magnet.

    Sir the declination you wrote for Delhi and Mumbai are wrong. The declination at Delhi is 0degree41minutes east and the declination at Mumbai is 0degree58minutes west (according to NCERT).

    sir i have encountered a problem while solving a numerical
    according to it magnetic field is present in direction into the plane and a charged particle with velocity (in the direction of plane of paper .L to R) v enters the magnetic field and deflects
    the width of magnetic field in the plane of paper is 1 cm
    now in order to calculate the time to cross the region i divided width of region (1 cm) by velocity v and got correct answer in the numerical
    but actually due to B particle should execute circular motion and should deflect however v remains same through out but its trajectory changes hence distance it covers by velocity v changes so time should be larger
    so iwant to ask that
    is this because new(deflected) path is approximately equal to original path
    and
    will horizontal velocity remains same inside field region
    you may please refer to hcv magnetic field q no 42
