      Romans 6.23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
      John 3:16-21
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
      Mark 1.15
15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
      2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
      Hebrews 11:6
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Heck, these days the way a warranty is phrased, it usually won't cover anything but gross defect, & even then the warranty on a component covers only those parts, not installation.
The terms & conditions of bumper to bumper dealer warranties vary widely, & are generally not as comprehensive as they may seem.
Any number of common mods, use cases, or practices, even dealer-installed factory options, can void some warranty terms!

Like I see how every generation of Porsche 911 will become a classic, but I fail to imagine how Porsche Cayenne becomes a classic. Or Alfa Romeo Stelvio and Tonale.
Even with cars like Lamborghini Urus or the Ferrari Whatchammacallit SUV, in 10 years many of them will probably rot at outskirts of Dubai, or will be on their last legs carrying around pimps and drug dealers in ghettos.

I'm sorry but older cars were not exactly "built to be rebuilt". The truth is that older car engines simply needed to be rebuilt more often. In fact, on average a modern car engine will last two to three times longer than an engine from a car from the 60’s or 70’s before needing a rebuild. And lets face it, by the time a car reaches 300,000 or 400,000 miles most people are not going to want to put money into it to rebuild the engine. So, it's not a matter of cars being built to be disposed of but rather that their engines last so long that by the time the engine goes the cars is not worth putting that kind of money into it.

She is not wrong. In the 80s, my mom came back from an oil change but it was black. I scratched an X on the top of the oil filter and went back. The garage asked "what did you do to dirty the oil?" After we pushed, he changed the "oil and filter". I asked if I would still see that x scratched on the filter. He then changed the filter. I change my own oil or check before I leave a garage. I see underfilled oil, old wiped filters, loose fill caps, and endless upsells.

PR tries to spin it so customer value seems unsustainable, but in truth, these companies are stripped for equity while leasing to continue operations. Suppliers are switched to benefit new owners, _at the expense of the company itself._ A company with enough assets, can be run on fumes & false promises for years before operations finally unravel completely. Whole industries are run into the ground, by people who take everything they can & move on.
Once private equity was dictating operations, that company's goods & services were doomed.

I've used the "lifetime guarantee" a few times on the replacement starter and alternator on my 1994 F150. Original parts lasted 25+ years, brand new made in mexico/china junk fails in 6-12 months... Takes a whole 5 minutes to swap either of em in the Oreillys parking lot, but still a gigantic inconvenience. Carry the original receipt in the glovebox, guaranteed theyre not gonna be able to find you in their "system" to do a exchange otherwise.

I had the factory radiator blow outon a trip. The local chain parts store had one of mine in stock. That one failed over ten years later, and my local store honored it. And the water pump that had been replaced as well at another time.

@@stevencovington4715 Seems to be a pretty massive difference between chains. Where I lived previously there was a Napa and a CarQuest that were both decent, you'd see the same handful of knowledgeable older dudes working there everytime you came in over the course of a few years. They typically had different "grades" of parts, you could get the elcheapo taiwan version of whatever, or you could spend a few more bucks and get something made in America (or at least Canada, Japan, Germany, etc etc)
Now days I'm stuck with an Orilleys or an AutoZone as the only two local places. Basically the fast food versions of a parts store. Seems like they're more concerned with keeping the store stocked with air fresheners and turtle wax then they are with stocking actual parts.

It's incredibly frustrating how poorly made aftermarket parts are...it should genuinely be illegal in my opinion, I don't care where or who you buy it from, you're not even going to get half of what the OEM gave you. I had to replace the starter on my '99 Maxima 3 times within 4 months after the original finally kicked the bucket after 23 years...and they were all the "premium" lifetime warranty units I may add. Got so tired of the part store junk that I went to a junk yard and pulled an OEM off a wrecked one (verified by Nissan logo sticker ) That was 2 years ago and it's still doing okay.

Most these auto parts stores are not honoring lifetime warranties.

Greenest thing you can do is to take what you have and make it last. Good on her.
