Thank you for this brilliant discussion. I totally resonate with Stefan’s viewpoints on nature. We are only one part of nature, no more no less and all are worthy of deep respect and reverence. In fact non human species have so much to teach us especially in our need to reconnect with nature and realign with her laws. She knows best. ❤

As a member of OBOD, and a long time practitioner of Japanese Martial & Cultural arts, I am intrigued by Shinrin-yoku, so much so that I have ordered the book (as well as that of Ian Siddons Heginworth). Living in a rural area outside of DC, we nevertheless have kept a variety of indoor plants, including a Norfolk Island Pine, in sunrooms for decades so that we always have some green indoors no matter what the season (we experience the full 4 seasons). For over 30 years I have been involved in several different Japanese weapons arts, both as student & instructor, many of which used wooden weapons; there is something unique in the touch - there is a spirit within them Most are Japanese white oak along with hickory and ash - we treat with the same respect as the real ones that they represent. .
