RICO needs to apply. This is fraud, extortion, and theft. If the camera system can't talk to the purchase system, in ZERO cases should the default action be to assume that they didn't pay. A 10% failure rate that they reported themselves having, though I expect it is likely much higher, should be grounds for negligence.

As it is now the corporations can falsely fine people and there is no down side for the corporations when they get it wrong either through negligence or deliberate fraud.
Even if you can get a receipt, which this report stated that this particular parking lot does not supply, no one will keep it for long. The report stated that the collection notices were sent months after the victims parked in the lot.
They did that to me! I didn’t pay. They told me they would send it to a debt collector. I said no. They said they would repo my car! Yeah right, you’re going to steal my car? Pfff. Nothing ever happened after I told them to leave me alone
My son paid to park in a garage in Austin. Fortunately he returned just in time to see a guy trying to boot his car. He told the parking guy he already paid. The guy replied: "Our network is down and I can't tell who paid and who didn't".
My wife and I just dealt with this exact issue. Same lot, same PRRS notice. Fortunately, my wife had the text message receipt from when we paid the parking fee. They make disputing the fine a pain. They dismissed it but we shouldn't have had to deal with it in the first place.
So they pay, They have the credit card receipt. Then the collections says that’s not good enough? They want a receipt. Only the machine didn’t give them a receipt. Now the company is saying that’s not their fault! What????? It’s YOUR machine. It is your fault if it is not serviced correctly. Take me to court. I have my proof I paid. Now prove to the court I didn’t.
Had a similar thing happen to me when using a private parking building in Auckland, NZ. We pre paid online for a parking a spot for an event and wife placed the print out reservation on the dash as they was required. Unfortunately we got a fine from them about a week later for parking there even though we paid in advance, displayed the reservation print out and they had our vehicle registration. The only dropped it after they realised we were not going to pay and take it to small claims court where they had recently had decisions go against them. We always take a photo now of receipt when we use any parking.
Since airport parking lots scan the license plates of parked cars day by day to track how long it's been in place, I take a picture of my car when I park it so I don't get over charged at the end of the trip
If it takes me an hour to get the $87 fine removed because of a technical glitch on your end, I'd be sending them an invoice for the time I spent troubleshooting their system. And if they don't pay, I'll send it to debt collections, have their credit score take a hit.
If you’ve paid and they send it to collections, that negatively impacts your credit score which could cost you money. THATS libel and they should be sued.
Come on there must be a class action attorney ready to take this on. If the company is claiming they didn’t get paid they won’t be able to say the plaintiffs agreed to arbitration.
Well, no, there's a big sign that says by parking there, the customer agrees to arbitrate all claims and to waive any right to file a class action. This is unfair and morally wrong, but our conservative, pro-business, anti-consumer Supreme Court has said it's perfectly okay. _AT&T Mobility LLC v. Concepcion,_ 563 U.S. 333 (2011) So our only recourse is with Congress. Interestingly, there was, in fact, legislation pending in Congress that would have done away with forced arbitration like this. It was called the Forced Arbitration Injustice Repeal (FAIR) Act. But now that the voters have voted for Republican control of both houses of Congress -- as well as the White House -- that legislation is dead in the water. I guess those "working class" voters who voted for Trump got what they wanted! 🙄

They also tried to F me over after I parked in their lot. They gave 30 mins free on top of my 2hr payment. I left around 2:10hrs later and they claimed I overstayed.
I used to make roughly $50 an hour, straight time before retirement. Every time I have had to disprove a parking fine or a toll charge for my license plate number from another state, it takes hours. And there are no repercussions.
This is one main reason why these services cost such outrageous fees. 3,or 4 middlemen companies that add on their fee. Not one of them will admit they are the ones who have any liability for any problems.😢
The state agency that issues business licenses for this particular company should revoke their business license for the entire state. And Denver needs to shut off the internet provider that is keeping that dump connected so it can't keep scamming people.
I had this happen with PRRS in Denver. My tire was touching a parking line and they gave (not sent) me a ticket. I fought them directly and they waived the ticket. CEO's should take notice!
I think having a parking attendant would be cheaper than the computerized pay, cameras, and other things used to run the facility. It sure and a hell is much cheaper than forking out $75,000 to someone you screwed over, especially if enough people get pissed and start taking them to court every month. 6000 cases a month, maybe 600 fines deleted, that means that the various pirates involved get to divide 5400 x $87 = $469,800 monthly in their fines and other BS (plus those legal payments they collect that were supposedly paid for the parking) If you are in a big city and you find a place to park in the middle of the day, something is wrong and you better think twice, because if no one is parking there [and there is never enough parking in any city] there has to be something wrong. I remember something that Chicago had back in the 70-80s known as the Oak Park Pirates that went around and found expensive cars, then towed them (no infractions involved) then charged a fortune to get your car back.
The same thing happened to me. I paid for parking and went to have lunch. As I was leaving, I took a phone call that lasted about three or four minutes.
