Absolute shame that we pay medicare tax our whole working lives and the Gov't cant properly budget for it. Can't wait to see how medicare for all goes....NOT.
I’m about to go on Medicare. Do I really need Medigap Supplement Plan to pay 20% of dr. Visits/hospital procedures/surgeries? It’s next to impossible to know Medicare price on common heart surgery or knee/hip replacement … if I knew how much these common senior procedures to expect …I could make sure I had those 20% monies set aside. Folks are scared to death literally because no one will tell them how much medical bills on Medicare will be. I know Medicare has priced at cost for example an appendectomy for younger folks would be priced at $50,000. but on Medicare, it’s $9000. So, Medicare pays 80% of $9000 and Medicare beneficiary would pay 20% or $1800. That is not much $ to plan ahead for. Folks who buy Medigap Plans don’t seem to realize the premiums are less at 65 years when we sign up, premiums often increase every year or two by 3 to 6% …seem to go up at 75 years then again at 85years …my question or point is there are a lot of years when u don’t have any medically necesssary procedures yet continue paying insurance company to write a 20% check …based on wonderful lowest Medicare price … that would be manageable if we all self funded this 20% portion ourselves. Anyone or Dr can u share some common Medicare bills so we can understand if we can afford paying our 20%.
Just because someone's grandfather doesn't complain to their grandchild about the cost of Healthcare doesn't mean they never do.. Even parents try to make sure their children aren't aware of financial stress - your statistics cover it though
Thank you for this. Do you have any video on drug utilization in a hospital/medical setting? I know PBMs handle much of the pharmacy utilization, but wondering who does the medical side and how that works.
I'm addicted to your videos. I'm an foreign graduate internal medicine resident and I can't emphasize how much I've learned from this channel.
Super! Thank you for watching!
