Canadian here. Outside of the covid lockdown protests this past weekend was the first time in a literal decade I have seen this country unify, get angry, and get behind something. I don’t think the rest of the world grasps how much of an economic and morale decline Canada has been in since Trudeau came to power, and right before an upcoming election. So if anything it was good to see shades of my old country back.
Is it like the US saying they were in financial decline when we were doing great coming back from covid? It's all a political perspective here. As an American that hates who America is right now, I'm with Canada.
American here. We'll negotiate with your new leadership if you are clever enough to vote for someone competent. I've traveled all around the world, grew up in Europe and Australia and Hong Kong for a tick. I've never been treated so badly by any Border Patrol on the earth than I've been treated by the Canadians.
@ Border guard mean to you? America can start by voting for someone competent and then maybe we won't have any problems with canada and mexico. We are the a**holes.
Yes, tariffs are bad, except everyone in the world has tariffs against USA. So we simply need to renegotiate with our best Allies. They are now all rich countries and can afford to make changes.
Yes, the US collected more money during the Biden administration from tariffs than the first Trump administration. It is bad when people's hatred from Trump blinds their objective reasoning and thought processes.
@@MatthewJohnson-zx9zs There are major imbalances between countries. You have to get into the weeds. Why do you think Europe is so reluctant to renegotiate along with so many other countries? Trump is asking for receptacle trade, and every country is trying to avoid that concept of fair trade.
USA tariffs EUR autos at 2.5%. EUR tariffs US autos at 10%. You sure do not see EUR complaining, nor are they volunteering to lower to 2.5%. Its up to the US to level the playing field.
Great episode and greetings from Europe. Trump’s list of failed businesses is longer than his alleged victims of sexual assault. Let us also not forget the 6 times he filed for bankruptcy including 2 casinos. This is not the ‘billionaire’ that we should entrust to run a company let alone a country.
Dan Ives been sounding the alarm on Palantir for as long as I remember. I sold my shares a long time ago because it did very poorly during the time I had it. Shoulda been more patient as always.
Love the show and hopefully I don’t get shadow band😅 but Josh opens up with I haven’t thought about tariffs and then brings out research from 1988 on tariffs
Sovereign Wealth Fund & US?--Alaska already has an $80 Billion "Permanent Fund" and gives every resident an annual PFD (Permanent Fund Dividend). Started in the 1970s...invested in stocks, bonds, real estate, etc.
Trump's banter on tariffs reminds me of the movie The Princess Bride. The Dread Pirate Roberts tells Wesley "good work, sleep tight, I'll most likely kill you in the morning". With Trump, it's "bend over, relax, I'll most likely tariff you in the morning". Canada and Mexico got shaken down for a 1 month delay. Next month Trump will try the same trick again. In middle school, it was "give me your lunch money!, is that all you got?!, oh, a Snickers Bar too!, nice going, now move along, I'll probably beat you up tomorrow".
7.20 mark Downtown talking about west germany and i can remember as a kid being around a company my dad worked for and they purchased a concrete saw from STILH and it said Made in West Germany and i believe the company still has that saw 35 + years later. also remember searching wall street journal for the company ticker symbol and finding out they weren't publicly traded company or even owned by private equity and all these years later the company STIHL is still family owned (4 shareholders) and they are a market leader and have a heavy manufacturing presence in United States. but yeah West Germany was a thing. Josh how's Julie? i guess that reference is as old as west germany
Great video I think you two guys have one of the most balanced approach to stock Live the info and analysis !!! Alex harp reminds me of SBF with that hair LOL; but I did buy palantir abs did not touch FTX
I’m at $14 cost basis and it has genuinely changed everything for me. So glad I didn’t falter and sell when it was in single-digit territories (I took some gains over time, but haven’t sold anything for over a year)
36:50 my understanding is US Dept of Labor oversees how retirement sponsor manage these plans. It would be a ton of accountability upon the plan sponsors for allowing private assets into their 401k plan.
WOW! Josh came in HOT! With some truth bombs for all of us. Whatever your political leanings, that intro made you uncomfortable. This just absolutely confirmed these are my guys from here on out. I am not a bot, just a real dude that hopes to retire some day.
It is one thing to move a factory from New England to the South for cheaper labor. It is another thing to move the factory to another country. As the workers at the hundreds of plants, employing 100’sk people, who if lucky would goto Mexico, train their replacement worker for a few months, then get fired when back home. But the CEO’s make generational wealth through the stock options. Look at WHR
Great content, as always! A bit off-topic, but I wanted to ask: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). What's the best way to send them to Binance?
I don't hate the idea of a sovereign wealth fund (we do generate revenues from government lands like oil leases, mineral rights, and timber harvest), I just don't trust this administration to run it. If we did have one, it would have to have a Fed-like independence.
It's all a big pantomime. Some people will take their camp kicks out of the show, others find it ridiculous and embarrassing. It's a oft repeated story in our culture.
@@eughrologh I don’t disagree. The tariff stuff doesn’t even bother me. The actions of the world’s richest human and 6 kids, no matter how intelligent, going root and stem through data does concern me. I just wish we were better than treating society like it is a video game. However, I cannot view the world as I wish I have to view the world as it is. I do appreciate the levity of your reply. Thank you.
People waking up to Palantir. I bought this company because I missed all the other mega cap tech companies and I thought this one might be the next. We’ll see. It’s been a fun stock to own.
Josh, you guys are clearly singing to your own choir. [John, chart on please.] Josh, you can clearly see here on this chart that nearly 80% of your clients reside in solid Blue cities and states. These are the same clients who are out of touch with policies that resonate with US citizens who believe in America First. Ponder that while you walk past the migrants, homeless, drug trash, and urine smell in your NYC commute. [John, chart off please.]
The one stock that does need to be concerned with tariffs is Tesla. It will be the no 1 target for retaliation for any country targeted by tariffs. Regardless of what governments do, the citizens of targeted countries will turn on anything connected to Elon as demonstrated by Canada. But I reckon the brand name is badly damaged by Elons political shenanigans now anyway. He’s alienated a lot of potential customers.
How can you talk about the rise of Palantir and not talk about the Paypal mafia connections with Peter Thiel, Elon Musk, David Sacks and their involvement in the Government which bodes well for Palantir going forward. Not to mention Palantir's CTO Shyam Sankar being considered for a role at the Pentagon.
I like that he does stuff… good or bad he actually makes decisions instead of worrying more about keeping a balance. Also are Tariffs really bad if every ‘loses’? If America loses less then it’s a relative benefit which counts for something.
That's not how it works. Everyone loses. If I shit in your yard and then you get pissed off and decide to shit in mine, both of our situations are worse and the neighborhood now smells. Tariffs can only be beneficial as a way to temporarily benefit niche domestic industries/products (that don't have supply chains affected by the tariffs), and as a bargaining tool to coerce other countries to make concessions (but this can backfire into trade wars as we are seeing).

No point trying to explain this to thick people

most developed countries have the same low tariff on US goods that we have on theirs - typically 5%

Avocado is a thirsty fruit. Many California groves were destroyed due to water rationing some years ago.
Everyone is a tariff expert now. Including Michael. Amazing. LMFAO.

Go research the IMF report on tariffs in 2018-2019
IMF is another unelected government.
Im guessing they are still ignoring the treasury hack in this episode 🙄

When you've kissed the ring sometimes the truth hurts bro.
How are you asking qtr questions like that regarding Google. I was just in there and have no idea how you did that. Or is that for premium membership?
With regard to tariffs, be sure you know the marginal cost of production relative to substitute products.

Trump’s priority is The Border, both immigration and fentanyl. That’s what motivates him. Both Canada and Mexico acquiesced
By doing what they were already doing.

Lower fees don't always make a big difference. Look at XLP vs RSPS over multiple decades.
Howard Nudnik said tariffs are not inflationary. I wonder what his company's economists think.
Sorry, you are so wrong on this subject! Super “dislike” button!!

Josh is sooo correct... the orange jesus bully boy absolutely wants to own TikTok. Why else did he turn over his interests to don jr???
Spratz on the water is in the house
you make Tuesdays awesome 👍🏻
Josh is turning into the Joe Rogan of f-nance.
Josh, check out Alex Karp's recent interview w Stan Druckenmiller

Why do podcasters and CNBC always find out about next Microsoft stocks of future like Pltr after they already do 100% from lows 🤔
DAN FAUST!!
Duncan has a good voice! He should do audio books! And dang I should have bought Spotify when they signed Joe Rogan.

why is pltr the only thing rising after beating earnings 😪
