Thanks for sharing, that was cool to watch. I grew up in DeKalb/Sycamore for many years and used to live in Maple Park as well - across from the race track, Sycamore Speedway.

Loved it. I grew up in DeKalb and spent my first college years at N.I.U. Left in 1972.

I have lived here in DeKalb all my life. This is a great video of the olden times in this town. I especially liked seeing the old steam engines going threw the town. Thanks for the memories. Dave Hegberg

We lived in DeKalb from 1970-73. I remember Lothson's, Malone's, Mel Elliott, the Junction, Huskie Stadium and the old fieldhouse, Corn Boil, the Del Monte plant, Fyfe N Drum, the duck pond at the university...

They had actual steam engines in DeKalb all they have is diesel trains diesel Union Pacific trains they don't do much except sometimes the Crossing they blow the horn they're not supposed to because it's silent Crossing no train horn but seriously something is weird when the big boy came to the DeKalb somehow there was a diesel horn but seriously let the steam engine locomotive blow its whistle
