    I have a 1962 Willies Utility Wagon like this. less than 40k with all original parts and badges. It was parked in 1991, running. It has an inline 6 cyl. I think it says Hurricane on the top of the motor with an oil bath breather. My grandparents had it for 40 years.

    One of my customers plopped a Willys Wagon body on a Chevy S-10 chassis, 4.3 V6 with 4 speed o/d auto. The exterior was beautifully rusty patina. The interior had refinished wood paneling under the roof and a saddle blanket upholstery job. It was rat rod greatness.
    I like the idea of keeping it in the family by using a Jeep chassis.

      People who watch/read a lot of automotive content have seen LSs getting swapped into everything, it gets really really boring.

    • @lokihallow
      @lokihallow 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      lilorbie lilorbie its actually far different than a traditional small block in terms of what it can do. LS engines are lighter, and lighter than most other swap candidates for that matter, they make power cheap and easy, there easy to slam into just about anything due to the compact size and as a bonus the mpg you get is pretty damn good, hell the 505 hp ls7 gets 28 mpg thats amazing. not to mention the stock internals can take alot of hp and the ls family is super reliable and very streetable even with large amounts of hp. you can hate it and theres nothing wrong with your own feelings towards it but at the end of the day it ends up in so many cars because of how great it is in all categories

    • @lilorbielilorbie2496
      @lilorbielilorbie2496 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      lokihallow all of that maybe true. but it,s still just a small block chevy. it replaced the original small block. if i see another ls swapped into any thing else i am going to puke.

Just about finished restoring the Chevy chassis really looking forward to seeing your swap. My frame was cracked in two spots and the original engine flathead I6 was missing the head and was totally seized so figured if i'm repowering it and it's no longer going to be stock go big.

    I'm all for V-8's, but a 4.3 V-6 is a much better fit in a Willys. The weight/power ratio is good and you don't have to hack the body up to make it fit. EVERY V-8 Willys I've been around has had a fan kiss the radiator at the most inopportune times, so I'm a little biased.

    People complain about LS swaps, but how many have you actually seen in person? Unless your in California the answer is not that many. I have seen tens of thousands of custom cars/trucks at car shows since the LS engines debut and I probably have seen 35ish swaps in person. That is not a lot. Magazines and the internet make it seem like everyone does it, in reality its not that many.

      It's indicative of a problem. Because they're so ubiquitous, they've become the go to swap for any jackass that can't figure out how to get the original setup running. At any given show or cruise in I go to, there's at least two LS-swapped cars that have lost their original character basically because of a lazy owner.
      It's the McDonald's of engine swaps - there's one on every corner and they're all boring
