The problem is more than just "Lost in Translation" - there are cultural/heritage facets that is probably going above and beyond most.... especially foreigners. Yes, the movie's storyline also has a play here... but cultural/heritage facets... Bharathanatyam and Bharathanatyam costumes is one facet, Karnatic Music is another facet... the interplay - competition within Karnatic Music and how Bharathanatyam has to follow it although sometimes it has its own thing too. If anybody has been to a cultural show - they would at least know the basics as to what I am talking about - but only someone that knows Bharathanatyam and/or Karnatic Music would know the real basis as to what I am talking about.
This is one of rajinikant best film. Simple story with engaging screenplay and with beautiful score from arr. Last but not least if you looking for vintage rajini style you have to watch this movie guys.. there's alot in this movie.
Nityashree Mahadevan is one of the leading exponents of Carnatic music. Her paternal grandmother was one of the three women stalwarts of Carnatic music. Few people in the industry can reach the notes that Nityashree can with such clarity.

The lines are so good it always let's me hear the song in loop, brilliant lyrics, brilliant singling and brilliant song overall. And yes i agree, Rajini can act. There was this one interview of Kamal where he was talking about one of his interactions with Rajini, Kamal asked why rajini started doing more comercial films with only stylish characters ,why not do different character oriented movie with thespian acting per say. And he said Rajini didn't want to do it he asked kamal to continue that path and rajini chose a different path which is what led him into where he is today. They both were great friends and healthy competitors for people who are wondering.

And yes i agree, Rajini can act. There was this one interview of Kamal where he was talking about one of his interactions with Rajini, Kamal asked why rajini started doing more comercial films with only stylish characters ,why not do different character oriented movie with thespian acting per say. And he said Rajini didn't want to do it he asked kamal to continue that path and rajini chose a different path which is what led him into where he is today.
They both were great friends and healthy competitors for people who are wondering.
You should watch this movie..it is was a massive spectacle in late 90s and early 20s in Tamil cinema...

Nithyashree mahadevans voice is one of the most powerful voice and unmatched in the all of India. Even the shrinivas' s voice falls short compared to Mrs nithyashrees voice in this song if you look closely. Everything in this scene was just perfect. They way it was beautifully portrayed by ramya krishnan makes it an all time master piece. She gave life to the character. Just a wholesome song ❤
